Something else that may help someone out there is to simply just delete the folder's contents first, then delete the folder itself once it's empty. This worked for a folder on a hard drive I had just recently installed, it said that I required permission from myself to delete the folder, while I was logged into that exact user. Even changing the permissions/ownership didn't help. Just deleting everything inside said folder was the only way I was able to delete the folder itself. Hopefully this helps someone out there.
