What I love about *The Room* is that Tommy Wiseau embraced the reasons for its success. He realizes, I believe, how bad it really is, and had had time to reflect on what makes it such a bad film. He also knows that only in the United States of America can you admit it, still succeed, and not have to be delusional about what you are. He is a strange person, but I think he has more right to his fame than most talented and "talented" people.

For his last name to originally have been Wieczor fits perfectly. He alters his last name to sound more french, which fits neatly when he insists he's from Louisiana, while keeping it close enough to Wieczor that it's not like trying to become accustomed to a new name entirely. Wiseau may possibly just be his way of pronouncing his very foreign last name to non-Europeans too.

I visited his birthplace & spoke to friends and family. He was actually considered a genius until a horrible car "accident" left him as he is today. Contact me if you ever wanna email about him; got lots of juicy tidbits that won't be around after "The Disaster Artist" hits in a few days. I'm sure all my research will be confiscated or worse. He's quite fascinating!
