@LukyHexagon That requires suitable housing, and pretty sure that suitable housing can't naturally generate in the world, so getting NPCs oother than the Guide, the Angler, the Stylist, the Tavernkeep, the Goblin Tinkerer, the Mechanic and the Wizard is pretty much impossible
To be honest, Sorbet Cafe was already doing stupidly grindy and hard challenges (such as getfixedboi hardcore and lawnmover only) so the bar was already high, but viewers that got low expectations were entertained with stupidest easiest challenges there is such as "terraria but I start with no tools" where someone just blows up a tree with a bomb they find and challenge is already done
@OverallEnoehem ehem I Wonder who would do too easy challenges Like These… I mean in my case its meant more or less to make the algorithm understand what Type of content i do and to actually practice on editing but yeah starting with nothing is not very Hard. Im Doing no crafting Right know and even tho its also not even similiarly close to challenges from that Type of difficulty its still pretty fun for me. Its still about making content you wanna do ig. For me a challenge is more challenging yourself. Ive never actually beaten empress of daylight or even Night in any world caus I was like: nah its optional and I dont need the gear. And no crafting basically forced me to Beat her in Both Stages because of the insane value her Stuff is Providing. If you arent very Good at this Game like Frostburn etc. I would say its better to gradually Build up the difficulty of your challenges since any challenge you do lets you learn new mechanichs and Strategies that ultimately benefit your next challenges.
Imagine joining a world and there's a random crimtane box in hell and the hallow is already there and plantera bulbs everywhere already but it doesn't even look like anyone's ever been in this world 😭😭😭
@neoselket562 They're still good. They may be talking about enemies having more defense, and in return, take less damage and return less lifesteal. It's very minor.
it'll still get you out of a pinch while keeping some dps up especially when your potion sickness is going. that thing has saved my hardcore runs too often during invasion events
@PaulZeroSolis That requires you to get enough of every single item. There's got to be at least one chest item that can't be researched enough times for journey mode. At least I'd assume so.
22:00 Tombstones will only properly land if there's a flat 2x2 space for them to be placed. They will break grasses and probably vines, but the following will allow them to not be placed: - if it isn't a flat 2x2 (eg: if one block is heigher than the other) - another type of furniture (eg: a placed work bench) blocking its space, including things that you wouldn't immediately think of like trees and dye plants. Probably also Crystal Shards - a hammered downwards block
I started falling asleep & hallucinated a totally warped version of the game & video, & was rather confused after the video ended with success only halfway through the checklist & you beating a specific hardmode bloodmoon enemy.
i think you had a premonition of a second challenge video or smth. i'm not positive but i think i had one before about the spectator mode video and maybe even replying to this comment. the 5th dimensional assholes are really fucking with you this month.
I know people have said before in comments that this sort of thing is what happens when we don’t get 1.4.5, but THIS is the sort of thing that happens when we don’t get 1.4.5
idk why you would think items appearing offscreen in lava would make the run seem scuffed. I think finding items enemies dropped while running into lava offscreen is something that every terraria player can relate to.
58:32 how DARE my terraria content creator not know the incredibly obscure and niche fact that plantera always drops a grenade launcher first in classic mode video is LITERALLY unwatchable angry emoji
@apple5293 You don't die "almost instantly" to a Hallowed Mimic. It takes 5 hits to get you down from 400 to 0 health, assuming you have 0 defense and don't drink a healing potion. There are plenty of other hardmode mobs that are better at stunlocking than the Hallowed Mimic. The Medusa and Black Widow are examples of mobs where getting hit once can ACTUALLY mean death, due to their debuffs. It is okay to appreciate some aspects of a challenge while also recognizing that others may have been exaggerated.
My thought process watching this: "Well I guess you can always craft an anvil... OH BUT YOU CAN'T PLACE IT. At least the npc's are going to come in handy! ... BUT YOU CAN'T BUILD HOUSES AAAA." I can't believe how fun and unique that is.
On multiple separate occasions during the video I thought "well its okay that he can't BUILD houses, if he just places a torch in the sky island houses ...... oh wait" lmao
I appreciate two things a lot about this playthrough: 1) Terraria is of course a game about building and reshaping your environment. But when you can do it to any extreme it feels like the meme about billionaires removing every possible inconvenience from their life and thus becoming completely detached from reality. Having to deal with whatever the game throws at you without any way to cheese it grounds the experience so much more. 2) Using test worlds! It always makes me cringe when I see a challenge runner run into something unexpected, face tank it and then be annoyed that it didn't go how they wanted. You can save your game, load a second save, test it and come back! I know it's more hype to have to do it live but practice done after the run starts isn't invalid if it's not a real time speedrun!
43:17 "Something else I'm hoping to get from this is a mech drop spawn" ... *stares intensely at the mechanical worm that dropped in the little pocket cave to his right*
the amount of monotonous grinding required for this run is insane, big respect for actually completing the run properly instead of just showing a proof of concept and cheating in all the rare items. also the editing and pacing was really good here, great video!
but how does his mana go up and down throughout the playthrough? 33:07 @ 3 stars 35:24 @ 7 stars 38:58 @ 3 stars *note: none of these timestamps are noted as being in a test world
4:41 you're telling me that all the times i've done the lucky dance to get a magic carpet from a pyramid chest, i've really just been jumping around like an idiot?
This was honestly one of the most fun videos they i have seen in terraria in a while, the editing and the absurdity of the challenge are something that I am quite impressed by, hope you make it far
The reason why graves sometimes places and sometimes doesn't is because it needs 2 blocks under it, even it it has a hammered block it won't move it like torches will
True, WoF is such a sore loser for invalidating the run when it died lmao Jokes aside, Frostburn didn't place the blocks himself so I don't think anyone minds
And starting hardmode also alters some blocks by introducing hallow and corruption/crimson, and both these things is undoubtedly a result of player's actions. So surprise: this challenge is impossible.
You could get lifefruit because it grows, just like plantera bulb, but ignoring it makes for even better and "pure" video. Great job man, keep up the good work!
@mymusicmen13 at this point is it even worth it to comment without definitive proof. Considering youve been saying this all over his channel, why not make an exposing video with all your gathered intel
@mymusicmen13 the music is in the description, its just the youtube audio library which doesn't have ai music. the voiceover is pretty clearly not ai, you can hear a lot of cuts and subtle shifts in the sound as he moves different distances from the microphone. and the script doesn't sound ai at all, none of the common ai patterns are there and it is way too specific to what is happening in the video
@mymusicmen13I hate the overly repetitive music too and his mispronouncing cavern was a bit silly but its pretty clear to anyone not wilfully misconstruing the evidence that he is not using ai for the music, his voice or his script. 100% human including all the flaws XD
Just tested it out, and you absolutely CAN spawn Plantera without manually breaking the bulb, but it's not a particularly fun solution. If the jungle grass it's on gets corrupted, then the bulb will break. If you're near the bulb when that happens, Plantera will spawn. All 100% natural. The downsides are waiting for this to happen naturally would take FOREVER, and when it does eventually spawn in, the biome will likely be crimson instead of jungle, so it'll spawn enraged. But hey, it's an actual, viable option to summon plantera without artificially placing OR breaking blocks! This also makes it theoretically possible to get life fruits too, as they also require jungle grass to exist.
2:45 ive had some worlds generate where the random underground minecart rails have generated in perfect ways where caves are connected from the surface all the way to the underworld. im fairly certain that the noise generation from the caves themselves prevent one cavern from fully stretching down, the the minecart tunnels seem to override this fact
I did a similarly long-duration challenge run that required theory crafting, scouting and grinding in another game before, so I already have a grasp the effort involved in such a run. But on top of the endurance you displayed in your challenge, compressing this run down to a 1h10min video is no small feat. Well done!
@məke Anno1800, building the Worlds Fair and holding the maximum size exhibition settling only a SINGLE tiny island. Besides the space requirements, and the inability to settle and produce goods in any other region, tiny islands will also never have Oil which is a very time-intensive restriction to overcome. After beating the challenge, I extended it to building all (possible) monuments and also built the Skyline Tower.
Some of the best editing I've ever seen on a Terraria video! I was going to watch it in the background, but all the fast-forwarding, zooming, jump cuts and commentary kept me engaged all the way through. Excellent work.
I expected him to do a theoretical run beforehand where anything he could get from grinding he’d just give himself. And he could respawn but nope, straight into it 😂❤
I just started watching and I'm so excited. And thanks for shining buff. It doesn't change the way this challenge works, yet it makes it twice as interesting
... It took me until 38 minutes to remember that technically killing WoF spawns in a square of block. Which I assume we're ignoring. Just weird that I didn't think of the technicality or that it was unmentioned so far.
The wall places those blocks, not the player. Ruling otherwise would mean something like an antlion spitting sand would end the run, which is kinda overkill
@danielbarker2522I know, I know. Though he did count gravestones and if you count that as a death of an entity caused by the player... Then using the vaguest of terms, those are similar. Besides, I did admit that yes... We're ignoring that. Just that I was surprised he didn't mention that we're clearly ignoring it as it is required.
1:01:27 I'm sorry if someone else has brought this up, but doesn't breaking the thorns here count as breaking a block? Especially if you didn't even allow yourself to break grass or vines
Hey I've done something very similar to this! I'm at 0:35 but I wanna talk about what I did. I did not do hardcore, so graves were happening. The jungle has to have an opening to the underworld. In some worlds it's cave goes all the way. So I went through worlds til that. I banned myself from crafting as well in this challenge, so I only geared up by enemy drops and chest loot. Full ancient cobalt and the water bolt did quite well against the wall of flesh. I did this on classic because fighting hardmode bosses without wings is a horrid experience. Sandstorm in a bottle I found in a pyramid does me justice for trying to dodge. I made it past the destroyer and skeletron prime but spazmatism would keep beating me, so I stopped around there. This title makes me wanna try it again though...
this wasnt broken by him, however, and instead by the suspicious way the terrain was made. Which means that with a vine book he could gain vines, altho he wouldnt be able to play them anyways
52:00 Despawning items isn't that complicated. There is a max amount of items that can be in a world at one time. When that max is reached, the oldest items despawn. Thus, if you are careful and don't spawn too many items, dropped items can last FOREVER.
How hard would it be without the Preservation book? Also, the WoF spawning blocks is way more problematic than the Plantera Bulb (which is an enemy?) Very impressive either way. Good video!
It would be near impossible to avoid breaking the underground pots with both starfury stars and grappling hook and idk if there's a way to avoid WoF to spawn the blocks

@LukyHexagon That requires suitable housing, and pretty sure that suitable housing can't naturally generate in the world, so getting NPCs oother than the Guide, the Angler, the Stylist, the Tavernkeep, the Goblin Tinkerer, the Mechanic and the Wizard is pretty much impossible
despawning items are number in world so if 1000 items drop the 1001st drop will despawn 1st
The game places the gravestone when you die, not you, so dying should be allowed, as long as it isn't intentional.

52:00 unlike minecraft, it's unrelated to time, the limit is 400 dropped items, then the oldest get despawned
lost all my mediumcore items to that "cool" fact. never playing on medium core again
Or if you quit out of the world, all items despawn immediately.
@CeduJJbozowhy did you put cool in quotes when no one said it lol

Wouldnt _italics_ work better for sarcasm? I almost never see quotation marks used outside of marking quotes.

Turning a Terraria world into a Metroidvania challenge.
Extreme dedication would be replacing all the items you took from chests at the end of the run
What is wrong with you
Well the cans of worms and herb bags would be impossible to use as theyre not replaceable (as far as im aware)
@NaelvonBorg Do the challenge in Journey Mode, to duplicate the otherwise unreplaceable items.
Dont tempt me frodo
@PaulZeroSolis That requires you to get enough of every single item. There's got to be at least one chest item that can't be researched enough times for journey mode. At least I'd assume so.

Also, as I learned from playing legendary mode with my friend, the gravestones will do damage like a weapon

My thought process watching this: "Well I guess you can always craft an anvil... OH BUT YOU CAN'T PLACE IT. At least the npc's are going to come in handy! ... BUT YOU CAN'T BUILD HOUSES AAAA."
I can't believe how fun and unique that is.
On multiple separate occasions during the video I thought "well its okay that he can't BUILD houses, if he just places a torch in the sky island houses ...... oh wait" lmao

57:18 Plantera bulbs can be broken without player intervention if the block underneath is converted by corruption spread
Guess he needs to redo the whole thing
52:07 whenever you leave the world or when there are 400 dropped item stacks and one more wants to drop, oldest despawning first
We need to postpone 1.4.5 another 5 years so we can truly hit the limit of insane challenge runs like this
I appreciate two things a lot about this playthrough:
1) Terraria is of course a game about building and reshaping your environment.
I know it's more hype to have to do it live but practice done after the run starts isn't invalid if it's not a real time speedrun!
test worlds is excessive, just make save backups
@aRyzeneD backups are even more excessive. Test worlds are simpler and way less technical and easier to switch in to
43:17 "Something else I'm hoping to get from this is a mech drop spawn" ... *stares intensely at the mechanical worm that dropped in the little pocket cave to his right*

Bro this is crazy I don’t think I’ve seen a harder terraria challenge before. thank you for the time and effort invested I heavily enjoyed
Good video, the wall did place blocks, but also hardmode alters the world too so it's a reasonable exception
But HEE didn't, that was the game itself, so doesn't count/matter 😅
Thanks for not having annoying effects or crazy reactions, this was a good video to sleep to on loop
Script, voiceover and music are all AI.
@mymusicmen13 at this point is it even worth it to comment without definitive proof. Considering youve been saying this all over his channel, why not make an exposing video with all your gathered intel
@mymusicmen13 god forbid someone doesn't want a copyright strike
@mymusicmen13 the music is in the description, its just the youtube audio library which doesn't have ai music.
the voiceover is pretty clearly not ai, you can hear a lot of cuts and subtle shifts in the sound as he moves different distances from the microphone.

Truly incredible!!! You have some of the best runs to watch!!
Gratulations on your sponsorship!
I thought a run cannot be more tedious than the fishing ones, smh my head
I really like your way of editing. This is a lot of fun to watch :D
Absolutely INSANE run, prob my fav challenge run I've ever seen. Love the dedication!
i sure hope you didn't end up breaking any non spider biome cobwebs on accident at some point
He did, you can see it in the video. Doesn’t matter
this might be the best terraria challenge ive watched honestly, awesome
1:08:54 it's amazing that he doesn't scream when he accomplish such an amazing milestone 😭
bro's so nonchalant
He doesnt scream cuz the voice is ai
That was super fun to watch!
Technically the wall of flesh placed blocks when you killed it
That is so impressive, love the dedication to the challenge!
43:25 "We need to get a mech boss spawner" the mechanical worm sitting on the cave overhang below your cursor: am I a joke to you
Yesssss!
Amazing job, was entertaining to watch
1:04:17 mewewewew heheheheh. wawawawa wowowowo. idk why but cultists noises sped up are just so endearing. i feel so paternal
this was crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of my favorite terraria videos now
Just tested it out, and you absolutely CAN spawn Plantera without manually breaking the bulb, but it's not a particularly fun solution.
That was sick, nice video!
18:12 Well, well, well if it isn't the Terraria Jungle, proving once again it's dominance over the game.
This commitment was admirable! Great video
2:45 ive had some worlds generate where the random underground minecart rails have generated in perfect ways where caves are connected from the surface all the way to the underworld. im fairly certain that the noise generation from the caves themselves prevent one cavern from fully stretching down, the the minecart tunnels seem to override this fact
the jungle quite frequently has a cave stretch all the way to the underworld naturally - I don’t think theres anything preventing it
I hope this challenge catches on because its been one of my favorite ways to play Terraria. Well done!

what was your playthrough?
@məke Anno1800, building the Worlds Fair and holding the maximum size exhibition settling only a SINGLE tiny island. After beating the challenge, I extended it to building all (possible) monuments and also built the Skyline Tower.
"you're a ghost, snake. in every sense of the word."
2:40 it’s actually quite common to find paths directly to the underworld straight through the jungle, I’ve found multiple in my time playing
Omg this was genuinely one of the best challenge run videos for any game I've ever seen. Like genuinely insane stuff, well well well done
Bro what? These challenges keep on getting crazier 😭😭😭
Also 1 minute ago is crazy work, now imma binge the video
Some of the best editing I've ever seen on a Terraria video!
I was going to watch it in the background, but all the fast-forwarding, zooming, jump cuts and commentary kept me engaged all the way through. Excellent work.
Man I thought you would talk about how you could 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 achieve it or not, not actually succeed in doing this. This is insane, props to you
I expected him to do a theoretical run beforehand where anything he could get from grinding he’d just give himself. And he could respawn but nope, straight into it 😂❤
at 43:10 did he not see the mechanical worm?
you are making amazing content, really appreciate watching your videos. keep going
this is a very interesting video but the music you chose is actively driving me insane
Great watch, love the content!
Bros making this from a padded room 😭
I just started watching and I'm so excited. And thanks for shining buff. It doesn't change the way this challenge works, yet it makes it twice as interesting
The flying saucer has a higher speed if you move diagonally with it. Great stuff!
Mmm but is that a higher airspeed AND groundspeed?
This video was such an interesting challenge run. I loved the required magnet part, really cool problem solving lol
... It took me until 38 minutes to remember that technically killing WoF spawns in a square of block. Which I assume we're ignoring. Just weird that I didn't think of the technicality or that it was unmentioned so far.

@plzletmebefrankit's something the player can reasonably prevent (by not dying)
The blocks are Spawned just like the Hardmode spawns hallowed biome, plantera bulbs, More crimson, etc.
Awesome challenge as always and constantly making me wonder what else you could be cooking, great vid!
This video is really good but the song constantly repeating got me annoyed really quick and i cant finish it unfortunately 😅
The dedication is absolutely crazy!

You always take your challenges to the next level! Glad to see your vids are taking off
What is the song at 50:31 🦖
I don't know
I like the dinosaur
Awesome work! So many roadblocks I didn't consider.
1:01:27 I'm sorry if someone else has brought this up, but doesn't breaking the thorns here count as breaking a block? Especially if you didn't even allow yourself to break grass or vines
pretty sure he brought up how running through thorns didn't count somewhere towards the beginning of the video
He does allow vines
Fishing arc was the best
40:18 how did you get the staff and chum by killing a merman without being at the ocean...
I think he just spawned merman
How about how did he have the summon in the clip of the blood moon that he didn’t have the summon staff in yet?
A perfect video to watch before sleep! Thank you for this
Hey I've done something very similar to this!
50:05 ah yes the classic wyvern encounter during the destroyer fight
4:58 walking through the door broke the vines
this wasnt broken by him, however, and instead by the suspicious way the terrain was made.
Which means that with a vine book he could gain vines, altho he wouldnt be able to play them anyways
Later in the video he says he doesn't count vines since they grew there
thats not the run/world he ended up finishing
Such a difficult and well produced video!
52:00 Despawning items isn't that complicated. There is a max amount of items that can be in a world at one time. When that max is reached, the oldest items despawn. Thus, if you are careful and don't spawn too many items, dropped items can last FOREVER.
Apparently it's 400 items, which is quite a lot
@SunbleachedAngelor until you close the world
Apparently knowing what fucking gender you are is too complicated.
You make the most incredible and fun to watch terraria content. Amazing run!
How hard would it be without the Preservation book? Also, the WoF spawning blocks is way more problematic than the Plantera Bulb (which is an enemy?)
Very impressive either way. Good video!
It would be near impossible to avoid breaking the underground pots with both starfury stars and grappling hook and idk if there's a way to avoid WoF to spawn the blocks
yeah but like he didn't place the blocks; they're more of a natural phenomenon, like vines growing.
Insane tenacity to make it to the end! Great job, this is definitely one of the more unorthodox challenges I’ve seen.
the answer: yes
your answer: also yes, but at 57:36 you hooked to the celling and broke a bee hive.
Beehives can spawn over time so I'm pretty sure it doesn't void the run
this was good, I really enjoyed the video
