You explained it so well, thanks for sharing your knowledge and not withholding anything you've learned from your experience, really appreciate you.
You bet 🙏🏼
Non owners insurance coverage works better for private rentals , another option way is to obtain Rental Car dealers License “ short term lessor “ to operate legally as a private rental company.
Ehhh sometimes. That insurance gets denied a ton in claims.
@@AlexWitherow1 Any commercial insurance you recommend?
@@michaelmaignan GMI and BMI
my intent / business model, if you will, was to get really inexpensive cars and rent them for $200/week insurance included. I know there’s a ton of demand for that, and I feel better for charging a lesser amount for those hard working rideshare drivers out there.
Basically create a fleet of 2012 Honda civics. (I’m aware of the maintenance issues I could incur)
Obviously this wouldn’t work with livery comercial insurance. That said, would my only option be including up to 3 or 4 drivers max to my personal insurance as described on your video, and never go LLC?
Thanks for the prompt response
Yeah that’s one way to go. It really depends how big your fleet is. The answer changes
@rafaelsantiago6880 can we connect. I'm tryna do the same business. I have 3 cars so far. I'm still figuring out the insurance situation
$800 a month -insurance -maintenance -downtime ?? You must plan on having a lot of cars. Other than that your going in the hole
Ive seen other videos talk about Livery insurance having tons of barriers to entry to even get it, idk maybe I misheard but I saw claims of the fleet owner needing some sort of industry experience prior, along with an official rental license and things of that nature…also heard livery wont insure just a few cars…
but was wondering what you know about / what your exp is with Livery specifically.
Do you cover Livery extensively in your insurance course?
I have a few cars running privately in a major market and making good money so looking to scale, but also havent dealt with any a hole renters yet so maybe I have just been lucky lol.
Thanks for any info my man!
I do cover it. And whatever leftover questions you have, I can answer personally. I know livery insurance well.
Hey Alex great video! If the guest sets up a new policy with full coverage under their name even tho the car is not registered to them be an option? Any insurance companies you could recommend?
Personal insurance will not do a policy for you unless the car is under your personal name. They won’t insure a business car.
Thank you for the information! I have my cars in my personal name, I haven't insured them as of yet. I plan to put them on Turo. To use Lula or Period X does the cars need to be in an LLC? Also what insurance did you use when the cars was in your personal name? Do you know if there is a temp insurance? I plan to refinance them into my business name eventually. Thank you!
No temp insurance.
Cars don’t need to be in an LLC for Lula or ABI.
Any rideshare product works for personal insurance.
I was looking to start, i'm in Toronto Canada, but they want $25,000/Year for one vehicle. It's facility (government insurance) because i've never had insurance before.. How can I start?
Unfortunately I only know the American insurance system. Wish I could help you more!
I want to short term lease my Business Cars to a University in Indiana. Nice cars, average $50k luxury car and 20-25 units. They will be rented or lease for the year? I need good comprehensive coverage. Is Lula my best option? Thank you
Do not touch Lula. Www.carrentalu.com/insurance
I’ve seen on other platforms car rental business owners discussing which insurance was better. The comparison was Lula (averaged $140/car/month vs GMI $100/car/month).
Here you are saying $450/month. What am I missing? Are the rules different when renting vehicles for ride share?
Thank you!
Yes exactly. Technically you need livery insurance. Lula doesn’t cover rideshare.

If I have insurance already on the vehicle should I just let the renter get their own insurance? Do I continue paying my policy if they have their own insurance?
It depends what kind of insurance you have and what kind of insurance they have and how you’re using the car
When is Uber going to buy Getaround?
Don’t think it’s going to happen. UBER doesn’t want rideshare drivers… ironically.
What insurance do i need to rent my personal vehicle a few days at a time to tourists
Privately or on a Carshare app? Privately I’d look at GMI.
@@AlexWitherow1 yeah privately. Does the insurance I need have a specific name
@@doost7846 GMI
So wait what do you use?
Totally depends on the state you’re in and how many cars you have.
Wait if a customer brings his insurance, doesn’t tittle have to be under his name? Would there be any liability under me if they kill someone in the car
You usually don’t want to rely on the customer bringing their own insurance. That’ll usually result in a declination of claim.
@@AlexWitherow1what if they non owner insurance? I lost myself as owner and they are authorized driver
What about the graves amendment
That’s legal murky water. Depends on the circumstances of the situation. Not quite cut and dry.
If i want to rent a car on getaround that is from out of state. If i want to insure the car. The state usually force me to switch my license and tags to the new state. How can i get around this? Whike managing my cars remotely from a different state?
I think I answered this on another comment already
