Garry is creative and spontaneous enough to actually be the best grappler to cross over into MMA. We haven’t had a cross over into MMA from the BJJ world since Damion Maia
@@retardno002 Gilbert Burns has been mixing everything from Boxing to Muay Thai and Wrestling! He’s not pure anymore! Ryan Hall is pure and precisely the reason he got destroyed by Topuria. Mackenzie Dern even had to adapt and learn Boxing skills to be competitive and she’s only won 2 out of her last 4. Werdum has fallen off but even he had to train with Chute box academy and learn their striking to stay competitive. How do you think he knocked out an elite striking like Mark Hunt. Besides his length and physical attributes, that was a well timed knee counter.
Crazy what he was doing to Enrico Cocco, who is a very high level grappler himself. Actually disrespectful, but amazing to show that Gary can do that to even someone as good as Cocco.
Garry Tonon sometimes easily loses his game. But it's not because he is short of ability. It's because he is so confident and likes too much to put himself in danger and slip out of it and win the game. While doing it, he sometimes fails to escape and then lose. If he tries to manage his game more conservatively, he would never lose the game. He is that good.
😂😂😂😂🌞🖤 Thats absolutely insane no one would ever just flop around like that and still win. This is how you instill fear into an opponent they dont know what to do but get counter and learn from this😆.
Man his duck dive type moves are fucking absolutely brutal. Just fucks you uo quick and escapes out the back. Dude is deceptively good. Gordon gets most of the shine but it was Gary who got him his start. I also don't want to take it there but I don't think Gary takes PEDs or not to the degree of some others. I will add I'm NOT against the use of certain PEDs. In Gordon's case it was just a matter of time and it paid off.
Jeff glover was the original guy who had made this playful style ( where you give a up a little positionally to make your opponent open up his defence posture resulting in overextention getting to excited etc) success. He gave Caio Terra his back standing and caio made the same mistake over extending getting to excited fell off and lost the match in a insane upset
If all grapplers engaged like Tonon BJJ would be so much more popular than it is. It's when athletes rely on butt scooting guard play that really makes it tough to watch sometimes.
And this my friends is why jiu jitsu sucks as a real martial art, cuz the best dudes in the world act like it’s the only martial art, acting like somebody wouldnt ground and pound you into tomorrow.
Are you saying that sport bjj has evolved into something that has little applicability in a real fight? I agree with you to an extent. And so do a lot of old school bjj guys. But to say bjj sucks as a martial art is absurd. I think the first several UFCs proved that. Or the fact that basically every mma fighter trains bjj as they do wrestling and striking. It’s become its own aspect of the game. Dudes who are able to ground and pound BJJ guys are able to do so exactly because they themselves learned bjj and know how to defend.
"Most entertaining" because he's a former wrestler who's using his skills against jiu-jitsu players with no wrestling skills. Big gap in wrestling skills makes for exciting takedowns and sacrifice throw "scramble" sequences.
He's an amazing grappler but hes so disrespectful to the bjj community no respect just look at me ill showboat with lesser competition to look good for my insta act like a brat when he loses
Garry Tonon and Marcelo Garcia are probably the coolest grapplers to watch. Entertaining and skillful. And that is an understatement.
Marcelo, Garry, Jeff Glover, in no particular order.
