Influenced by abstract expressionist painters, Spokane artist Mel McCuddin uses fingers, rags and brushes to create his unconventional animal and human subjects.
Great to see a new Mel video after so many years, thank you for making this! He will always be one of my favourite artists for his gift of turning paint on a canvas into profound works of art!
Just revisited this video and it thrilled me even more! I love your work so much, Mel and it is so lovely to see you with your wife. I too paint on in my 80s but never achieved the truly creative joy of your paintings. Still, we paint on. Your attitude is inspiring - thank you.
Art of the imagination, true blue to me. I love his work, renews my faith in artists hearing the call to create from the soul. Thank you very much. Have a continued good life..
Thankyou for posting. I am a new fan. Mel and his work are amazing. I wish I could contact him to let him know how grateful I am to have discovered his art and how much it has changed my thinking and doing when it comes to my own work. I feel set free from the confines of opinions and the suffocating 'rules' in art that haunt me at times. Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Mel and your wonderful wife for encouraging youxxx
Most interesting Art to me, like Mel said, "the painting is already there", isnt that special to make a painting on divination basis, I mean who doesnt know to watch the clouds and see things into it.
One of my favorite artists!❤
