Dude, perfect video, you took the time to explain clearly and simply all steps taken, to gain power whilst remaining safe. Thank you so much for this. More youtubers ought to follow your style. Best of luck with your project.
💯👍👍
Took the words out of my mouth. Excellent detailed explanation. Appreciate that.

Thumbs up, subscribed and I turned on the bell. Very nice video.
Yea this was awesome I now understand tuning much better without going all formulas and crazy math on me
This was literally the definition of a perfect RUclips video. Straight to the point, entertaining, informative and well edited. I look forward to your future videos.

@@giantpune and the extra 10 minutes of awful camera angles and boring dialogue
@@giantpune Fucking this lol. God some youtubers are so annyoing. Throw in some crappy thumbnail which highlights the car (I'm looking at you tavarish) and an extremely surprised face and the title "YOU WONT BELIEVE HOW MUCH HP I GOT FROM THIS INSANE TUNE!!"
@@OPBjorn They're catering to a "younger" audience. It's what you do when you want to make the most money. Attract the teenagers who are used to reaction videos and stupid clickbait titles.
Came to the comments to write exactly what you wrote.
Perfect combination of explanations and visuals. The only small thing I noticed, as a Dragy addict myself, is I find that it's best to start at least 5mph (more if turbo) below the start point of the acceleration test, so the suspension and drivetrain can get all loaded up by the time the clock starts. Sick video and please keep it up!
You know this video is bussin, when the miata dad is here
I guess we can just pretend that the test was from 35-80 🤣
@@nytro8027 It's still going to be 99% consistent in an n/a car, but what can happen is if you try to start the pull right at the "start speed", Dragy can trigger the timer early which can give a slower overall time. Or trigger the timer while the suspension is still loading up and you could lose a fraction of a second haha
This was just for scientific purposes so it would just be another variable here. If he was actually racing that would be a good idea. Also, if it's a turbo you can use the clutch to rev up and build boost and drop it to have boost when you start.
@@matthewmorgan582 Not really the case with a boosted car, it just needs to be at full acceleration before the trigger speed (aka fully spooled up). Trying to do funny things like clutch kick are just going to lead to inconsistency, and how hard you demolish the clutch don't have anything to do with metering how fast the car accelerates due to an increase in power.
as a car newbie, the explanation and visuals was perfect, even for someone like me it's clearly understandable what's going on :)
Couldnt agree more!
I know absolutely nothing about tuning cars but ive learnt so much from just this simple 7 min video
Best video out there that explains ecu tuning, well spoken and well presented, i finally understand the principals of ecu tuning! love it! insane gains for n.a. btw!

Very nice swap. My dad and I swapped a 351w into an 84 gt. It was a lot of fun.
@@fordxbgtfalcon do you know how much power it makes?
99% of mechanics an techs don't know much about tuning. They may know what your looking for AFRs but not much else.
In a few minutes you explained what other guys take several hours to say. Bravo
Nice of you to explain to people how the tuning process works. I owned a first generation Viper and remember gaining 6.25/8.5% with K&N, exhaust and tune back in the day. Those V10s respond well to tuning which isn’t always the case with NA engines.
Goes to show, esp nowadays, what can be done with simple things not all this aftermarket hoopla to get 50hp for 2k lol
Dude, what is an engine? The correct answer is an air pump and anything you do to increase the air flow into the pump and out of the pump is going to make power...
@@garyvisser8987 Of course. But some manufacturers do a better job of getting air in and out than others. Some cars barely benefit from simple mods like air intakes and exhaust systems.
@@Bamabrute85 so true, 2v life here..lol
LS engines respond very well to tunes too, I drove a stock F-Body and I drove a F-Body with an aftermarket air intake, exhaust and tune and it was a night and day difference, 3 simple mods but it was like a different car, doing the mods without the tune would have been useless it's the tune that really woke it up.
This honestly is probably the best in depth raw “tuning101” video i have ever seen. I learned more about tuning and afr, timing, fueling and more in this video alone then a hptuners tutorial video. Thank you so much!
Very true.
Same. I cant believe how clear it was
I've been trying to learn more about tuning lately and this video was super helpful. Informative yet concise while explaining several of the "why's" behind the process
You know you hit the nail when every comment is, “I feel like I genuinely learned something from this video.”
I imagine someone is going to meet you in the years to come and say they watched this video in class-how it made it all make sense. Good work!
Solid video, enjoyed the effort you put in to explain the whole process. Would love to see this car with ported heads and a big cam!
Hey buell dad
More people need to take this approach when tuning cars, it's super engaging vs someone trying to entertain the audience when we can't see what's going on during a dyno run. Loved it. The benchmark
Creators like you and videos like this are why I love RUclips. Fantastic video man.
Been on various forums for years and have seen PLENTY of youtube videos...this is the best, most concise tune video I've seen. Thank you for putting this together!
Best dyno tune video i've ever watched man, great work. I work in an engine shop so it's great to see you explain these concepts clearly for other people to understand.
This just shows how important tuning is. Almost 30 hp gain on a 100% stock car. Absolutely nuts, great video!
I wouldn't compare the hp figures that much since its 8L V10 and it has much to give.
The 6.8% hp gain is pretty good but eliminating the torque dip is much more important and you can feel that in daily driving.
@Yuck Foutube 430 HP on a 8.0 V10 is nothing. 0.5 HP per 1.0L just sounds ridiculous.
@@GAMING2S It could make plenty more power than factory, It's a big, lower compression engine that makes a heap of torque. Probably very understressed and "detuned" because it didn't need to make an insane amount of power at the time.
This was really cool to watch. It always seem so complicated what they're doing but you broke down every step and made it much easier to learn and absorb. Would like to see more of these.
Teach us more !!! Not many people can do such a great job on understanding, and being able to simplify it clearly like you do
You have a gift and I definitely appreciate you taking time out to break it all down like you did in this video
Thank you
Incredible job, man. I love the graphs and you explaining pretty much what an engine tune is and how its done. Great work
thank you venik 🙏
This was a really well made video. Explained the basics of how n/a motors are tuned! Loved the use of the death in the end! And also love that you stayed in a single gear to remove human error!
Honestly the best video I have come across explaining tuning, please do more!
Love these kind of videos and how it shows how much power can gained from tuning alone. . It’s a perfect example of how from the factory the timing is conservative with extra fuel to keep the motor safe.
Wow, this was the best tuning explanation video I have ever seen! You explained it so clearly and simply! I thoroughly enjoyed this! Also that viper is so clean! 🤤 way to go man! Badass
I love how put together your videos are and how well you explain what is happening and how it's happening! Quality videos over quantity!
Definitely the best video I’ve seen regarding what a tune can do to a car, also the explanation was exceptional, loved it. I hope you keep doing videos like this one. 👍🏼
This is the best video on ECU tuning I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a lot of them. Really precise, well explained, yet short and without any of the usual bla-bla-bla that makes it two times longer than it should have been. And still simple enough that I think I can show it to my friends that aren’t gearheads without them drifting away 😅.
Seriously, perfect visuals, great explainations, now I’m ready to see how much of a monster that Viper is going to be!
That’s really impressive, people always say that it’s pointless to tune a stock NA car but you definetly proved them to be wrong
Edit: wow over 100 likes, never gotten that before lmao
Well... And basically you proved me I should look into it for my Viper as well. It certainly is interesting for anyone to squeeze just what there is in the engine without further mods 👍
Tuning an 8+ Litre NA v10 isn’t same as tuning a 3.5 NA V6. Obviously the v10 has way more potential power to be made. My 3.5 NA V6 Lexus with 11.8-1 compression only gets 10 whp from a ecu tune.
@@nickcaesar7650 yeah, that's totally true. Large displacement (NA) engines likely react very favorably to anything you just "through at them".
Grateful machines they are 😊
Only ppl on the internet say that
the difference is even more impressive on more modern dual cam + variable cam timing engines. even my little v6 mustang had a 10% improvement in peak number and something like 15% in the mid range with e85.
amazing work. this era of viper as well as corvette are so raw, they still look and perform great and can come at a good price. looking forward to seeing how much more you can get out of it with mentioned upgrades.
This is an incredible video. One of the first youtube videos over 5min that i didn't skip to the good parts. Very good visuals. Very concise details. Thank you for this!
This video is perfect from the tuning info to the dragy results flawless
Absolutely fantastic video! I loved how you stepped through the whole tuning process.

Thanks so much for this video mate, I really got a lot out of the graphics and explanation! Very cool of Street to Sand to let you video that process, many tuners refuse to let any stuff like that get out. :)

Was this done on the stock ecm and stock harness ?
This format of video showing dyno results is by far the best i have ever seen, i really think people should learn about how a good dyno show video has to be! Thank you!!
Man, I cannot thank you enough for this video!!! I've always been super curious about tuning, and I LOOOVE that Viper. Thank you for posting this!!
Wow, that's a huge improvement in that acceleration time! I've heard - not experienced myself, but Jay Leno said - that these earlier vipers were held back by long gear ratios. I guess that torque improvement really helped to overcome that!
A long transmission on a car with low torque might be a short transmission on a high torque car. Transmissions are torque multipliers, so your base value is very important in determining what your ideal ratios are.
Learned more in this video then I would in a hour long one. Much appreciated!!
I knew all of that but have never seen it presented so concisely. This is the gold standard for making technical videos accessible to everyone and I'm sure you just inspired someone to learn more about engine tuning.
Awesome video. Enough info to feed the brain, but not an overwhelming amount of detail to make it boring. Subbed.
Well presented and clear non nonsense video. Thanks for the upload
Genuinely enjoyed all these videos. Great to watch for a complete novice to what goes into a tune. Keep them coming.
Fantastic vid mate. Love the dyno graphs with fuel mixture included. A real eye opener as to how effective ignition and fuel maps are to power and torque optimization. Also shows how drive ability is affected. It's not always about peak outputs. Can't wait for the next vid.
Excellent video! I recently had my 3v tuned and had the privilege of finding a tuner that explained every step of the way in the tuning process. Keep up the good content and greetings from South Texas!

Very high production quality! Thank you so much for sharing so much detail about the run-to-run tuning process.
best vid i've seen explaining tuning! simple and straight to the point! also beautiful viper GTS! subbed
Nice job tracking everything and showing how tuning is an iterative process. It's pretty nuts how much torque the stock car puts down over a broad rpm range. But yeah... I love gen 2 vipers, I am starting to regret selling mine. Beautiful car man, enjoy it!!

I love the color and no stripes with the polished wheels …… it’s such a beautiful car.

Hey @Four_eyes, really intellegent and comprehensive channel. I have learned alot from watching your content. Especially the final drive ratio! The road testing/real world after tuning or modifications is really genuine and appeals to me. Look foward to your future content and I sometimes re-watch some earlier content for things I may have overlooked. Cheers from Australia🇦🇺
What a fantastic short video that explains everything in layman's terms. Thank you so much, I actually learned a tonne whilst being hooked on the video. Great Job.
Awesome. My mate tuned my stock (apart from exhaust)18 year old LS1 and made significant gains in torque and overall driving performance up to 5000rpm
This is a great explanation of the tuning process. Although gains aren't usually massive on a factory n/a motor, tuning out the dips and rough areas in the dyno graph can absolutely be felt while driving. It's not always about peak numbers.
right? the midrange seemed to pick up a significant amount of oomph
this is lowkey an awesome channel. it will naturally grow don't push the uploads the quality is worth it!
This was really great. It wasn't convoluted with graphs and whiteboards. This was straight, simple information to digest. I'm glad I found your channel. Consider me a new subscriber.
Awesome video! I love the details being explained in the tuning process. That Viper needs to get uncorked though! Have any major mods your gonna do to it? Or happy with it as is?
Yeah so first mods will be a full exhaust and smooth tubes, then eventually the engine will be rebuilt. I am aiming for a 9+ liter / 700+ whp NA build.
@@Four_Eyes Dang now thats awesome! That will be a monster to drive and its already a monster. Look forward to seeing that happen if you post videos of it.
@@Four_Eyes HELL YEAH KEEPIN IT NA BROTHERR

Good to know! Thank you.
Great video. Love the explanations between each dyno run. The graphic used and the legend on the side were spot on!
Nice job.

Love this video format, the explanations and the attention to detail plus the breakdown of the tuning steps. 👏
I learned more in this 7 minutes than I did in auto class. Awesome setup and explanation! Thank you.
Beautiful car. Never would've thought a simple tuning would increase HP and Trq like that. Does this apply for just about any vehicle?
yes , the factories place limiters and restrictions on every car. tuning pretty much just gets rid of the limitations allowing for maximum air in/out which is pretty much what increases hp
Succulent, straight to the point video, with good explanations and animations.
Subbed.
This is the best tuning video I have seen on RUclips. Absolutely zero BS, every broad question answered. Nice
Firstly, what a beautiful car! Secondly, that experiment is just perfect for these old engines which were programmed and assembled by some farmers who didn't really know what to do. Like giving these old horses some coke and I believe they enjoy it! Lastly, thanks for the explanations of what was done. Seems so simple and logical but best to let a pro do it, I guess.
oh god I hope you're talking about soft drinks but sadly suspect otherwise

Amazing video!! Love the explanation of how tuning affects the engine/performance.
Everybody likes to see max hp. But your dyno runs show just how important the entire rpm curve is. So much meat under those curves after the final tune. Peak numbers r for show, fat torque curves r for go.
Explaining complex things in simple easy-to-understand ways is a superpower. This is the best video on tuning for non-technical folks I've ever seen.
The visuals and graphing animations made me weak to the knees. It was so easy to follow along and i felt like a learned a lot while continuing to enjoy the progress being made!
This is actually a great presentation on the basics of fuel and ignition tuning. You guys did a great job with the old viper. I'm a big believer in tuning "stock" cars. Every individual engine is different, not to mention they change over time with age and mileage.

This is such a well done video. This may seem so basic to many people and easy, but I had to learn all this stuff on my own back in early 2000's and it took a long time just to understand these simple concepts.
