The lion dance is a traditional Chinese performance that symbolizes prosperity, good luck, and warding off evil spirits. The dance features two performers inside a lion costume, moving in sync to mimic a lion’s agility and expressions. Accompanied by loud drumbeats, cymbals, and gongs, the performance often includes acrobatic stunts and interactions with the audience. The lion may also “eat” and “spit out” a green vegetable, symbolizing fortune and blessings. This vibrant and energetic display is an important part of Chinese culture and heritage.
