  • Additive processes are the future. MTU Aero Engines is one of the first engine manufacturers to use selective laser melting to produce additively manufactured series components. At MTU's Munich facility, this process is used to produce borescope bosses for the A320neo's PW1100G-JM engine.
3D printing allows greater design freedom, elimination of molds and significantly reduced lead times. It works by using a laser to build up the material layer by layer from a powdered starting material.
