The issue about people watching videos on RUclips is that they care more about production and not so much about the content. For me you would be on your living room filming on your smartphone and with only natural light and it would be fine by me. It’s all about the content and that never fails to deliver. Thank you for your effort and sharing and enthusiasm on doing so. Cheers and have a great new year.

    Mark,
    1. You are a photographer and your results are great.
    2. You are a fantastic educator and motivator.
    3. Your audio-video quality is great and requires no modifications.
    4. One video a week is more than sufficient. Heck, your videos are much more educational than most photo RUclipsrs. I can't believe you can produce one per week. I can't believe folks are asking for more, especially as the are free to the consumer.
THANK YOU for everything you do. Please know that you are hugely appreciated.

Thomas Heaton and several other photographers have talked about that 1% that feel compelled to leave these negative comments and how much they let that small percentage of morons bother them to the point where they felt the need to create a video just like this. I've done landscape and wildlife photography since the 80's and I thoroughly enjoy all of your videos! You've got the right mindset. Do what you enjoy and not what others think you should be doing. Keep up the great work! Whether you produce 5 videos or 200 videos in 2024, I will look forward to every one of them. I think I speak on behalf of most photographers when I say that we are our own worst critics. Whether you realize if or not, you ARE as good if not better than some of those guys you mentioned in your video. Don't let these trolls get to you. Just do you brother!

As for some of the negative comments - ignore them! Your audio has always been fine; you should only put your time into those things that you truly enjoy and love; and stay true to your photographic priorities. After all, it's your life not ours :)

Mark, I've been an amateur photographer for over 50 years, and I since I found your channel a couple years ago I think I've watched pretty much every video you've posted. Why? Because no matter what topic you discuss any given week, I always learn something new from you or gain a new perspective about something. Your "folksy" style is very enjoyable, much like sitting across a table from you and having a good chat and a beer would be. Pay no mind to the critics! They are not worth listening to, and you have a huge audience of people who thoroughly enjoy your videos, your style, and your personality, and who appreciate the ongoing effort you make to pass along your knowledge and experience to us. As you said, you operate the channel because you enjoy doing it. And you are good at it! Keep up the great work in 2024, and Happy New Year.

Working up to a point....Hi Mark, I have been a photographer since I was12. However, I have also had 43 years as a secondary school teacher - mostly psychology. Even now, in retirement, I still teach Psych 101 at my local community college here in Farmington, CT. In my life, I can now look back and say that the most important character trait in a person's personality, as well as his or her interactions with fellow human beings is....sincerity. Getting to the point, you and Chris Lee (Pal2Tech) are two of the most sincere guys on the internet. The two of you are indeed, my "Fuji peeps." A greater compliment....I cannot think of. Most RUclips photogs online are "okay," and there are a fair number who just like to hear (and watch) themselves talk. But you and Chris are not full of yourselves - and this is not to mention the knowledge the two of you bring forth. Statement repeated, the two of you are as sincere as it gets - and I thank the two of you (big-time) for being yourselves. And as far as the complainants are concerned, I sincerely believe that these folks, in their pettiness, have far too much time on their hands. Perhaps these folks need to buy a dog and take it for long walks. Toward that point, I've done the math. You have 269,000 subscribers. So when 3% (my own estimation) see fit to bellyache or whine, or moan, or groan, or whatever the word is....that means there's a mathematical potential for over 8000 whiners to be "called to action." That's a lot of (numerical) potential to wreck your day, your week, or month. And so I congratulate you on keeping on....keeping on. As for me, I could not do it as I am hurt very easily. In fact, I have completely given up doing weddings. There are far too many bride-zillas out there. Most brides, both good and bad, are filled with anxiety. And worse, they project that anxiety onto everyone around them, e.g., their families, their vendors, etc. I mean....I could photograph 51 weddings and the newly married couple are as pleased as they can be. But there's that one couple who are dissatisfied with my all-out efforts......and I am devastated by it. It takes me months and months to get over it. That is, if I ever do.
So Mark, keep on...keeping on. You are Chris Lee are the best.
    Sincerely,
    Terrence Marselle
    Bristol, Connecticut

My personal feeling towards your topic in this video is you are not always going to please everyone. So, let the negative remarks from others go & continue to share your photo experiences with the people that really appreciate your skills & teachings.
I have learned so many photography techniques since joining your channel & I thank you for that. Biggest thing to remember as a creater. Comments don't define what you do or what you enjoy to do. You're the one pressing the upload button. So it's your choice what you choose to share with the world. Whatever people have to say about it is their own issue. Not yours. You don't need to explain what you love to do. Just keep doing more of it. That's why hundreds of thousands of people enjoy what you do also. Negative and Irrelevant comments are only good for adding to the algorithm. That's all they're accomplishing. Which is ironic that when these people think that they're hurting a channel they're really just adding to the channels support by commenting. So, the joke is really on them.

Mark, you are by far the best teacher on RUclips. Your videos are informative and entertaining at the same time. I've sometimes wondered why you don't do more on location work but in the end it's your weekly tutorial videos that are the best. When you mentioned the only good photo you've gotten while filming on location I immediately thought of that very image. Don't listen to those people that always denigrate your work. They are usually miserable people who only derive any pleasure by trying to make someone else miserable. I've been following you for several years now and you always deliver quality content. By the way, your "set" and audio look and sound good to me. Thanks for all you do and have a great 2024.

I have met Mark a few times. Beyond being a talented photographer, he’s also a genuinely good guy. I enjoy your presentation style, your enthusiasm, and your ability to showcase "how to" ideas in a way that is easy to understand and usable! My photos have improved-editing and composition-and a lot of that is thanks to you and others taking the time (and risk) to introduce information the best way you can. haven't subscribed very long, but I would say that out of all the YT photo videos I have used to help me with taking the photo and then editing the final product, yours have been the most helpful, especially with Lightroom. If I had a negative critique, it would be keeping up with your 'before-after' clicks, they seem quick and I have trouble telling the before from the after on slightly edited photos. Your presentation is not rushed, easy to understand, and it comes across as genuine helpful advice to help us obtain a better final result. 260K+ subscribers cant all be wrong. If you like doing it, keep doing it.

People who leave "unkind" comments are usually very insecure. Many photographers DON'T share their knowledge. You do, and those of us who watch very much appreciate the information you impart. Keep it up! If they don't like your style, they can find another photographer to learn from (or to criticize!). There are lots of great comments on here, so your core group (which is quite large, you know) likes you and your style enough to be faithful watchers/listeners/learners. There is always much to learn and few that share their knowledge so generously. Happy New Year!

Good for you! I have seen a lot of your videos and I've taken some of your courses, and I can't recall a single moment where I thought that it was in any way inferior. There are always going to be critics (1%). Please, keep making for me and the rest of the 99% that love them. And, by all means enjoy yourself. That's when you do your best work. That's what life should be about.
By the way; Your videos are every bit as good as anyone on RUclips.

Very well put, Mark. We have but one life and we can choose how we spend it. You have chosen a life of creativity and sharing your passion for creativity with others via this channel, as well as leading and participating in workshops - kudos to you. Others, a minority, chose a path of negativity and derive pleasure of a sort by tearing down what others have built up. Fortunately, they are a minority, though they are pesky rascals and can be hard to ignore at times.
I enjoy your videos - you are a gifted communicator. Keep up the good work....
    Cheers,
    Alex

I've had cameras since I was 7yrs old and am now 70yrs and consider myself an enthusiastic amateur. There are many so called experts out there and I still enjoy my photography even though some of my shooting is rubbish don't let that 1% bother you. All the best for the New Year and Regards Bob

I think what and how you do your videos/photo shoots are exactly how I would love to be working. I very much enjoy you and think you do an amazing job. I can tell you love what you are doing and that is what everyone’s dream would be. Those people that criticize you are just sad and jealous people. I guess the question is if they think you are so bad at what you are doing, why are they watching.
Bottom line. Keep doing what you are doing and do it how you enjoy it because you make it so easy to follow.
    Thank you again.

Mark I’ve been watching you since you started your channel. Your one of my favorite photographers! I certainly do appreciate all the help I’ve received from your wonderful videos. As for giving an explanation to that 1% please don’t there are 99% who love and appreciate the work that goes into these videos. I would care 0% about the complainers believe me they complain EVERYWHERE not just on utube. Can’t wait to see what you have for us in 2024. Keep up the great work.

Mark, keep up the good work. Don't worry about the gatekeepers that think they get to decide who/what is worthy of what title. I and so many others sincerely appreciate you and all you produce. Remember that some folks need to tear others down to build themselves up. They are just pathetic and not worth your time. Ignore them and continue to inspire the rest of us.

Don’t change a thing. Your channel is great just the way it is. Maybe the knockers need to set up and do better - i doubt they could. When I come in to check my subscribed channels for new videos, yours is the first I check every time. I learn so much from your tips and tuition. Love your work. Keep it up.

I’m always surprised that people feel the need to complain. This is free content and regardless of the mic sound or the fact that you only do one video a week, good for you. You’re authentic! I enjoy what you create. I was a podcaster for two years about 10 years ago and when I stopped enjoying it, I quit. Keep up doing what you enjoy and I’ll enjoy what you do. Even if it’s only once a week. Thanks Mark.

Negative comments always surprise me. I am not sure why so many people need to try to make others feel bad so they can feel good. It is as if social media has given people a platform to express the frustration present in their personal lives. You have a great channel and always add value. Happy New Year and continued success.

Mark, your videos and the way you produce them are perfect. You are not only a phenomenal photographer, your teaching style I would dare say appeals to the majority who watch them. You have furthered my photography more than any others that I watch. Please, don't change anything. Those who troll you are only showing their jealousy and imaturity. Ignore them and keep on keeping on and be Blessed in 2024. Looking forward to what you bring us in the new year.

hi Mark, compliments for your format and way of telling us and making us wiser. I have learned a lot from your videos in recent years and you have inspired me. There will always be critics, but the most important thing is that it is your story, told the way you want to tell it and that you enjoy it and love it. And i like the way you do that. All the best for 2024.

The photographer / youtuber debate and comments are exhausting on social media. It's easy to conflate them, but they're two really distinct skills, and both very challenging and rewarding areas to continually learn in. Thankfully for us you're good at both and have been consistently for years! Typically those that are loudest about this are only good at or are only learning one 😅

I don't subscribe to many landscape photographers channels, but yours is my favorite to watch. The others I have subscribed to say one thing in the title and don't really talk about the subject. They just video the location and what they are seeing. I have pretty much stopped watching them, and I tune into yours all the time. You are doing a great job, and I am looking forward to seeing what you have in store for 2024!

Mad respect for you, man. You have been one of my go to learning channels for my photography and it’s largely due to the ease and style of the way you do what you do.
On location videos look exhausting to me. Especially when you’re a one man show. How many times do you have to set up your camera, walk around, walk back to get it, set it up again, rinse and repeat. 😂 That has to take so much time away from what you really want to do - take photos.
You kick ass man. Thank you for doing what you do and putting in the work to do it. Hope you had an amazing g holiday season and a happy new year!

I've recently found your content and it's great for the very reasons you state in your video, i.e., you have not gone for glam over content.
