YHWH or JHVH. These four-consonant words are commonly called the Tetragrammaton, or Tetragram, derived from two Greek words meaning “four letters.” Now the question of accurate pronunciation arises because early Hebrew writing consisted of consonants with no vowels to guide the reader. So whether the pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton becomes Yahweh or Jehovah depends on which vowels the reader supplies to the four consonants. Today many Hebrew scholars prefer Yahweh as the true pronunciation.
However, consistency favors Jehovah. In what way? The pronunciation Jehovah has been accepted in English for centuries. Those who object to using this pronunciation should also object to the use of the accepted pronunciation Jeremiah and even Jesus. Jeremiah would need to be changed to Yir•meyahʹ or Yir•meyaʹhu, the original Hebrew pronunciations, and Jesus would become Ye•shuʹaʽ (Hebrew) or I•e•sousʹ (Greek). Hence, many Bible students, including Jehovah’s Witnesses, feel that consistency favors the use of the already well-known English-language “Jehovah” and its equivalent in other languages.
Why does the New World Translation use the form “Jehovah”? In English, the four letters of the Tetragrammaton (יהוה) are represented by the consonants YHWH. As was true of all written words in ancient Hebrew, the Tetragrammaton contained no vowels. When ancient Hebrew was in everyday use, readers easily provided the appropriate vowels.
About a thousand years after the Hebrew Scriptures were completed, Jewish scholars developed a system of pronunciation points, or signs, by which to indicate what vowels to use when reading Hebrew. By that time, though, many Jews had the superstitious idea that it was wrong to say God’s personal name out loud, so they used substitute expressions. Thus, it seems that when they copied the Tetragrammaton, they combined the vowels for the substitute expressions with the four consonants representing the divine name. Therefore, the manuscripts with those vowel points do not help in determining how the name was originally pronounced in Hebrew. Some feel that the name was pronounced “Yahweh,” whereas others suggest different possibilities. A Dead Sea Scroll containing a portion of Leviticus in Greek transliterates the divine name Iao. Besides that form, early Greek writers also suggest the pronunciations Iae, I•a•beʹ, and I•a•ou•eʹ. However, there is no reason to be dogmatic. We simply do not know how God’s ancient servants pronounced this name in Hebrew. (Genesis 13:4; Exodus 3:15) What we do know is that God used his name repeatedly in communication with his people, that they addressed him by that name, and that they used it freely in speaking with others.-Exodus 6:2; 1 Kings 8:23; Psalm 99:9.
The first rendering of God’s personal name in an English Bible appeared in 1530 in William Tyndale’s translation of the Pentateuch. He used the form “Iehouah.” Over time, the English language changed, and the spelling of the divine name was modernized. For example, in 1612, Henry Ainsworth used the form “Iehovah” throughout his translation of the book of Psalms. Then, in 1639, when that work was revised and printed with the Pentateuch, the form “Jehovah” was used. In 1901, the translators who produced the American Standard Version of the Bible used the form “Jehovah” where the divine name appeared in the Hebrew text.
Explaining why he used “Jehovah” instead of “Yahweh” in his 1911 work Studies in the Psalms, respected Bible scholar Joseph Bryant Rotherham said that he wanted to employ a “form of the name more familiar (while perfectly acceptable) to the general Bible-reading public.” In 1930 scholar A. F. Kirkpatrick made a similar point regarding the use of the form “Jehovah.” He said: “Modern grammarians argue that it ought to be read Yahveh or Yahaveh; but JEHOVAH seems firmly rooted in the English language, and the really important point is not the exact pronunciation, but the recognition that it is a Proper Name, not merely an appellative title like ‘Lord.’”

Yes, it seems God only permitted "Allah" to create the Qu'ran if he included the verses below, so anyone who actually studied the Qu'ran can find the Truth. Many people who claim to be muslim say:
"Bible and Torah were corrupted/changed by men."
Which is in disagreement with their "Allah", who says:
      1) "Torah and Bible are the word of God" (Surah 2:41, 3:3, 5:43-48).
      2) "Words of God cannot be corrupted(change by men)" (Surah 6:115, 18:27).
      3) Jesus says "I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life. No man can come to the Father except through me" (Bible, John 14:6).
      4) If you believe the Qu'ran, you must then believe the Bible, which then cancels the Qu'ran.

It is the congregation who understood the divinity of Jesus, never as God the Majesty, so they could be spoken in that terminology without understanding that Jesus is God THE MAGESTY, EVEN when Jesus IS ALLOWED to receive GLORY AND HONOR that only belongs to THE MAGESTY AND THAT IT WAS NOT LIKE THIS, much less in the TIMES OF ISAIAS, UNTIL NOW that he gave his life as a sacrifice, and that I cannot be declared as such in the times of Isaiah, since that was not the message of justice that now after the death of Jesus, it would be. Felt him 8 times so far. I read every book in the bible except psalms. Im only about half way through but ive read the other 65 books multiple times and ive had the pages jump out at me. Ive had multiple visions of Jesus and other things ( the Throne room was pretty cool ). And yes he has even talked ti me through scriptures but the really cool thing is when he answers questions through scripture or i ask a question one day and wake up the next with certain song lyrics fresh in my mind that answers the question. As a native Greek from Greece, I can fully confirm that your teaching and interpretation of John 1:1 is accurate and Orthodox about the Greek text .
And the Greek text is crystal clear.

    • @cugrngneer
      @cugrngneer 8 месяцев назад +14

Just because you confirm the Greek is accurate does not mean the 'interpretation' of a part of something is accurate. Interpretations don't necessarily mean getting the sense of the meaning of something. Personal perceptions and desire to control outcomes is what stylize interpretations serve. When people get the same accurate understanding of a particular thought, then they all end up on the same page and in agreement to collaborate. Jesus was all about agreement and collaboration. Which cannot happen when everyone is interpreting their own way. Just look at the world's politics and religions...divisive because of language and personal interpretations.

      @cugrngneer 8 месяцев назад

@@nikostheater "We are in luck, because the following verses explain the mystery." Where are they?
Do you mean "the text is clear and accurate" according to Your own understanding of ancient Greek, which King James's English translators translated from? Your understanding of Greek doesn't mean that the essence and understanding is being translated to the reader from ancient Hebrew to ancient Greek to middle ages English with accuracy or with collective agreement. Jesus promoted agreement among his followers regarding the Scriptures' message about him.
The Father/Son relationship is a fundamental relationship humans are able to conceptualize and associate with. "Let US make man in OUR image..." (Gen 1:26) In verse 27 it says, " And God went on to create the man in his image..." Father gets all the credit and glory, but son works side by side in the work reaping his own reward. Connections we can experience. We don't naturally conceptualize that we are made up of multiple people with separate free wills along with 3 way hierarchy occupying the same body including a spirit entity sidekick. Evidently, because we are not created in the image of anyone defined as a trinity. We are all given the dignity of individuality, personality and will...Like Jehovah and Jesus see themselves. People use John 1:1 as if the rest of the Bible is irrelevant without realizing they are doing it. Do you know this scripture? (2 Tim 3:15-17)

The verse equates the Word with YHWH.
It clarifies it further, because the Word is a creator of Creation along with God , to the point that EVERYTHING that was created, was created with the Word.
So the Word is pre-existing and also a Creator.

The sad thing is there was a time when they were taught to reason that way. I think it all started going downhill after Nathan H Norr. After him, the number of people that possessed that skill, just dwindled and dwindled. I think Franz was probably the last one who is a true master at it. The man was a genius. He was multilingual and counted Koine Greek among the languages he spoke. Anyway, Russell absolutely had nothing against debating people on biblical points. He frequently debated people using a Greek version called the Emphatic Diaglot which was an interlinear that was used before the Kingdom Interlinear was used. These days, they are discouraged from getting any sort of high-level education whatsoever, and positively forbidden from debating with anybody. Very few truly and deeply understand the points that they’re making with people as opposed to just repeating Word for Word what they are getting out of some of those publications. They only know the beaten path. They never stray from it.

John 1:1,2; 1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.”
Is Jesus Christ God or the word of God? John 14:10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.
So Jesus said the words that He speak it’s not His words, but God’s words. Let’s see what God says in the Scriptures below:
Deuteronomy 18:18 I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him.
Isaiah 42:1 “Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.
Matthew 3:17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Now with the above Bible scriptures in mind let’s read, John 1:1 In the beginning was …… Jesus Christ…….the Word, and …… Jesus Christ…..the Word was with God, and the Word …… Jesus Christ spoke ……was God. 2 He…… Jesus Christ….. was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him…… Jesus Christ….., and without Him …… Jesus Christ…..nothing was made that was made. In Him ….. Jesus Christ,…. was life, and the life was the light of men.……. John 1:14 And the Word….. Jesus Christ…… became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
      John 17:5
And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.

John 14:28, RS: “[Jesus said:] If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father; for the Father is greater than I.”
1 Cor. 11:3, RS: “I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a woman is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.”
Holy Spirit is Gods (The Most High)power. This is evident by what the angel told Mary at Luke 1:I n answer the angel said to her: “Holy spirit will come upon you, and power of the Most High will overshadow you. And for that reason the one who is born will be called holy,l God’s Son.”and at Acts 1:8 it says You will receive power when the holy spirit arrives upon you, and you will be witnesses of me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the most distant part of the earth.”

I sat next to a Jehovah's Witness on the plane yesterday, and he noticed the Bible I was reading. He brought up the New World Translation, which was new to me. We had a conversation about the Bible, and he tried to persuade me to consider the Jehovah's Witness doctrine. I saw it as an opportunity to share my faith, which had been my prayer (open doors of opportunity to being people to Jesus) Although I was grateful for the chance, I felt a bit uncomfortable/lost as to what to say. Today, I came across this helpful video that discussed Greek comparisons in the Bible, which I found beneficial. I'm unsure how it appeared in my feed, but I'm glad it did. The speaker was very skilled at delving into the Bible in detail, something I may not be able to do, but it was certainly insightful. Thank you.

In the old testament, you see the word being given a personality. Example in Genesis where the scripture says the word was walking in the garden. You may ask how can a word walk?
      Genesis 3:8 KJV
And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
It goes to show that the word from the beginning is a person. In the book of John 1, he wrote, and the word became man and lived among us. That mean the word of God put on flesh and dwelt with mankind for a while.
A person is what he says and what he does. The same way God is what he says abd what ge does. God's word is God Himself. You cannot separate God from his word. Thats is why Jesus being the word putting on flesh is God himself.
People may argue but the reason why Jesus kept referring to His Father is because his Father was in his fullness and Jesus being the word was only on an assignment to save the world. He had only one purpose where as all purposes was in God. Therefore you hear him say my father is greater than I.

      Bible translator William Barclay writes:
“Now normally, except for special reasons, Greek nouns always have the definite article in front of them, . . . When a Greek noun has not got the article in front of it, it becomes rather a description than an identification, and has the character of an adjective rather than of a noun. We can see exactly the same in English. If I say: ‘James is the man’, then I identify James with some definite man whom I have in mind; but, if I say: ‘James is man’, then I am simply describing James as human, and the word man has become a description and not an identification. If John had said ho theos ēn ho logos, using a definite article in front of both nouns, then he would definitely have identified the logos [the Word] with God, but because he has no definite article in front of theos it becomes a description, and more of an adjective than a noun. The translation then becomes, to put it rather clumsily, ‘The Word was in the same class as God, belonged to the same order of being as God ‘. . . . John is not here identifying the Word with God. To put it very simply, he does not say that Jesus was God.”-Many Witnesses, One Lord (1963), pages 23, 24.

[In a matter like this, we cannot do other than to go to the Greek, which is theos en ho logos. Theos is the Greek word for God, en for was, ho for the, logos for word. Now normally, except for special reasons, Greek nouns always have the definite article in front of them, *and we can see at once here that theos the noun for God has not got the definite article in front of it*.]
When a Greek noun has not got the article in front of it, it becomes rather a description than an identification, and has the character of an adjective than of a noun. We can see exactly the same in English. If I say, "James is the man," then I identify James with some definite man whom I have in mind; but if I say: "James is man", then I am simply describing James as human, and the word man has become a description and not an identification. If John had said ho theos en ho logos, using a definite article in front of both nouns, then he would have definitely identified the Logos with God, but because he has no definite article in front of theos it becomes a description, and more of an adjective than a noun. The translation then becomes, to put it rather clumsily, "The Word was in the same class as God, belonging to the same order of being as God."
[The only modern translator who fairly and squarely faced this problem is Kenneth Wuest, who has: "The Word was as to his essence essential deity." But it is here that the NEB has brilliantly solved the problem with the absolutely accurate rendering: "What God was the Word was]." John is not here identifying the Word with God. To put it very simply, he does not say that Jesus was God'"
['"God himself took this human flesh upon him." (William Barclay; Many Witnesses, One Lord, p27) ]
BARCLAY WAS REFUTING MODALISM - NOT TRINITARISM!!!!!
How deceitful of you. Just like WATCHTOWER.
When Barclay says in his book, Many Witnesses, One Lord: "John is not here identifying the Word with God. To put it very simply, he does not say that Jesus was God", Barclay is refuting Modalism. Modalism states that the Father and the Son are the same person. Barclay is saying, with our brackets added for emphasis, "John is not here identifying the Word with God [the person of the Father]. To put it very simply, he does not say that Jesus was God [the person of the Father]". Jehovah's Witnesses deliberately confuse their readers by misinterpreting anti-Modalist comments. Such is the "deception of wickedness".
When Barclay says in his book, Many Witnesses, One Lord: "The Word was in the same class as God, belonging to the same order of being as God." It is obvious that Barclay is viewing that Jesus is just as much VERY God as the Father.
In Barclay's letter to Shoemaker, he says, "that he is of the same stuff as God, that is of the same being as God" which is echoing the Athanasian creed

Letter written by William Barclay to Donald Shoemaker of Biola College after Shoemaker informed Barclay how the Watchtower had misquoted him:
      Dear Professor Donald Shoemaker,
Thank you for your letter of August 11th. The Watchtower article has, by judicious cutting, made me say the opposite of what I meant to say. What I was meaning to say, as you well know, is that Jesus is not the same as God, to put it more crudely, that he is of the same stuff as God, that is of the same being as God, but the way the Watchtower has printed my stuff has simply left the conclusion that Jesus is not God in a way that suits themselves.
If they missed from their answer the translation of Kenneth Wuest and the N.E.B., they missed the whole point.
It was good of you to write and I don't think I need say anything more to make my position clear.
      With every good wish.
      Yours Sincerely
      William Barclay.

So God released the spirit to help us know who God is and how to follow him. The holy spirit will speak to us through our minds with a thought or an idea or to lead us by making an impression in our hearts to do something or say something or even think something that is according to God's will.
For example, if you're having a debate or see something happening and you get a strong urge or feeling to say something according to God (stand up for him, defend him etc) that feeling you're feeling is the holy spirit doing work.

A week later, they came back, only this time they brought a man with them who was clearly one of their elder members. Again we spoke for almost an hour. The next week, this same leader returned, but with two different people with him. We discussed at length as I showed them things they were not aware of. An angel is anyone or anything that preaches Gods message. Some examples. The Bible is an angel, Moses was an angel, Elijah was an angel, you are an angel. Arch means the firstborn. Before God created anything else, he made Yashuah [God is my Salvation (Jesus)] whose real name is Michael (Who is like God). How can God be anyone’s salvation if Michael was made before man who needs salvation? Also John 1:1 is a huge mistranslation. Michael was made by God and everyother angel by Michael. That is why in Proverbs Michael is said to be the masterworker of God. He isn’t God but is if the same essence of God (the Father). All angels are “gods” but not “God” For example, Satan is a god. Hope this clears up any confusion.

"..., and the Word was a god."
Why the NWT put "a" article before god in John 1:1c when Koine Greek did not use such before "theos"/god?
First of, Koine Greek has not yet recognized articles such as "a" and "an" in its dialect. But the Coptic Greek in the 3rd century standardized the indefinite article, which is the first translated language by Greek-speaking Christians in Egypt, who were the direct descendants following Jesus's earthly ministry.
It's a crucial period because the Coptic Greek had not yet been adulterated by the pagan Trinity of the 4th century, with the Nicene Creed endorsed personally by the Roman Emperor.
Also, the usage of article "a" in John 1:1c, suffices John 1:1b wherein "theon"/God was written in accusative case w/c required the translators to put "with" before God.
In fact, God is discerning to have instructed John to write John 1:2, "This one was in the beginning with God." to break the confusion for those who have faith in truth.

For over a year, a Jehova's Witness elder has visited my home every Wednesday. We go over the "lessons" in a Watchtower publication and watch videos that accompany the text. I do not debate, knowing the futility, but allow him to take the role of "teacher". With that, I am able to question the publication as its taught. Many times I point out the contradiction in both the publication, and the NWT. The response is typically the same, "I'll have to look into that." I use old Watchtower publications against the organization which clearly show contradictions, but the response is, "I'll have to look into that." They are indoctrinated into a cult, so they have a cult mindset. Only God can open their hearts. The most that can be done is to plant seeds of doubt in their minds, which, if they reject, will be used against them on the day of judgment. Sad.

24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. Hmmm NOT MY SAYING...but you say he's God! Lets read Hebrews 1:1-2 Ahhhhh now we know! 2 Corinthians 5:19 and Acts 10:38 and soooo many more!
When does Jesus return? Mark 13:32-37 God knows all!!!
What is Jesus, He is the New Covenant, we have to accept HIM and he is the ONLY WAY! Acts 2:22-23 and Deuteronomy 18:15 & 18-19 and Acts 3:22-26 and John 14:6 kjv.
No, Jesus is NOT God....Jesus tells us Mark 12:29-30 kjv.
First read all the scripture posted before you post a reply telling me Jesus is God when scripture clearly tells us different.
      Peace!

@@NickHawaii What are you talking about, there are many that are closer to Christianity in their teachings, doctrines & practices. Jws slaves do not even consider themselves Christians because they're indoctrinated to believe that Christ isn't their mediator, but they go about merely as members of a religious cult regurgitating the distorted gospel of Watchtower. They are set to make slaves for Watchtower, not disciples for Jesus Christ. What part of these Jws are preaching Christ & the good news of the gospel to people? That's why Jws don't know Jesus, because 99% of their indoctrination has been about the name "Jehovah" & "Jehovah's organization", the cult tower governed by 8 men who claim that every jw slave should completely trust their words the same way they trust Jesus & the Father. That is heresy!! What part of Christianity in the time of the apostles and the early church, gathered to reject the body of Christ & called it the "Memorial" of Jesus Christ?
Are you a Jw? Is Christ your mediator? The Watchtower is a religious cult that presents their distortion of the gospel as a narrative of Watchtower, which more so points people to the organization as a means of being saved. Their distorted bible supports their narrative of God's kingdom that they publish in their literature, all fables and heresies like Jw slaves having to clean up the earth after Armageddon and an unrighteous like a homosexual will return and have any chance to learn the way of Jehovah by way of the witnesses.
Watchtower org is closer to a religious cult than a sect of Christianity!!

@NickHawaii Thank you. I hear you, and your point is taken. But this was the point of my original comment... because your community is "closely entwined" (and I have experienced it, and it is lovely), it makes it harder for people to see the real truth, because of all that they will lose. In the video, the scriptures were plain to see, the original greek was plain to see, but they didn't want to see it because they had too much to lose. Similar to those who leave Islam, I imagine. The relationships and friendships are real, I'm not knocking that, but that should not override the pursuit of genuine biblical truth. Tbh I was actually surprised that a Wiitness would even watch these videos because the ones I know are guided by the elders not to watch videos like this. But sincerely, I wish you all the best. Thank you for respectful dialogue ❤️! Editing to add, genuine disciples of Jesus, who love the way Yeshua (Jesus) demonstrated love, are the embodiment of Christianity. I am blessed to be in such a congregation of believers!

Please understand this, it is not always about being afraid to learn the the scriptures accurately, it is about the massive mental shift that occurs when you realize you've been lied to and you've wasted years of your life in that mindset.
After that, you have to decide if you'll walk away from all that. Because it's a cult, that's not so easy.
These people have their entire lives wrapped up in their religion. They risk losing their jobs, kids, spouses, etc
I know this because I'm ex-mormon. There are many people who pretend to be Mormon because they cannot risk losing a job or getting a divorce and losing their kids.
When I found out all the dirty secrets of the LDS cult, it was a massive betrayal. I didnt sleep for weeks.
When I stopped going to church that's when the harassment started. They harassed me, my neighbors, my family.
I had to go through therapy to unravel the indoctrination, guilt, and shame. That's how that church makes you feel, like you're never good enough, no matter how much you dedicate yourself to the church.
When I left the LDS cult I became atheist. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth.
On 11/25/23 Jesus Christ spoke to me and he healed me. I'm not the same person anymore. That experience completely changed me. Praise Jesus Christ, the one TRUE god!

@@annastinehammersdottir1290 you have got to be kidding. This guy does not know his Bible he has rehearsed over and over the same scriptures. My sisters have more patience than I would have with the so called “Bible Scholar” 😂 If god is 3x1=1 Please explain each one of these. John 10:36 Jesus Christ said: "I am God's Son."
John 14:28, RS: “[Jesus said:] If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because “I go to the Father” ; ((why) for the Father is greater than I.”
1 Cor. 11:3, RS: “I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a woman is her husband, and the “head of Christ is God.” (Clearly, then, Christ is not God, and God is of superior rank to Christ. It should be noted that this was written about 55 C.E., some 22 years after Jesus returned to heaven.
1 Cor. 15:27, 28 RS: “‘God has put all things in subjection under his [Jesus’] feet.’ But when it says, ‘All things are put in subjection under him,’ it is plain that he is excepted who put all things under him. When all things are subjected to him, then “the Son himself will” (what)”also be subjected to him” (by who) “who put all things under him,” that God may be everything to every one.”
John 10:17This is why the Father loves me, because I surrender my life, so that I may receive it again. 18 No man takes it away from me, but I surrender it of my own initiative. I have authority to surrender it, and I have authority to receive it again. This commandment I received from (from who) my Father.
      John 20:31
But these have been written down so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and because of believing, you may have life by means of his name.
John 15:21“They will do all these things against you on account of my name, because they do not know the One [Jehovah God] that sent me.”
      John 1:14 So the Word became flesh and resided among us, and we had a view of his glory, a glory such as belongs to an only-begotten sent from a father;
      Definition: be•get be get | ba'get |
verb (begets, begetting; past begot | ba'gat | or archaic begat | ba'gat | ; past participle begotten | ba'gätn | ) [with object] literary 1 (typically of a man, sometimes of a man and a woman) bring (a child)into existence by the process of reproduction:
And if John 1:1 explains the trinity where is the holy spirit ? Why is Holy Spirit not mentioned. I’ll tell you why because it is God’s power or active force. (The Most High)power. This is evident by what the angel told Mary at Luke 1:I In answer the angel said to her: “Holy spirit will come upon you, and power of the Most High will overshadow you. And for that reason the one who is born will be called holy, God’s Son.”and at Acts 1:8 it says You will receive power when the holy spirit arrives upon you, and you will be witnesses of me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the most distant part of the earth.”
Clearly this shows that Holy Spirit is not a person but Gods power.

In my opinion, trying to argue the greek with non greek speakers is not the proper way to get this point across(as we see in the video). Picking single verses out of the bible which show Jesus is God, will easily be refuted by other verses which by face value look like Jesus is not claiming to be God. Since he brought up the king james version, I would of loved for you to ask them why the king james version (john 1:1) does not match their own translation. You can then ask them if speaking to spirit mediums is allowed in God's eyes (lev 19:31). Then ask them if they are aware their john 1:1 translation comes from a spirit medium. Do research on Johannes Greber he was the reason for their mistranslated john 1:1.

Here are some scriptures that are often used to support the argument that Jesus is God, countering the Jehovah’s Witness belief that Jesus is not God:
    1. John 1:1-3
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
    2. John 10:30
I and My Father are one.
    3. John 20:28
And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"
    4. Colossians 2:9
For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
    5. Philippians 2:5-6
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God.
    6. Titus 2:13
Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.
    7. Hebrews 1:8
But to the Son He says: "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom."
    8. Revelation 1:8
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."
These passages highlight the divinity of Jesus, affirming that He is indeed God according to Christian doctrine as reflected in the New King James Version of the Bible.

@@TakingTurf Well,... bless your little ole loving Christian heart!!!
Are you by any chance the one Jesus called a "white washed" TOMB??? All pretty and sparkling with self-righteousness on the outside,... but nothing but dead rattling bones on the inside??? That couldn't be you. That dude was so "religious",... he had Scripture sewn in his clothes and hair!!!
Unfortunately, he didn't have any love in his heart ❤️❤️❤️
Nothing is secret from God,.... "neighbor"😉
      God bless.

      When you're talking to a _Paulian_ ...
      Q: Who is God?
      A: Jesus
Q: Is Jesus the son of Mary?
      A: Yes,
      Q: Who is God?
      A: Jesus
*God Jesus was born from the mother he created (Mary)
Q: Is Jesus a born son?
      A: Yes,
      Q: Who is his father?
      A: God
      Q: Who is God?
      A: Jesus
*God Jesus is the father of God Jesus and the creator of the mother he was born from her the son of his wife
Q: Is Jesus the servant of God?
      A: Yes,
Q: Did Jesus die on the cross?
      A: Yes,
Q: And for whom did he go up?
      A: To God
*God Jesus was crucified & ascended to God Jesus
      Q: Is Jesus a Messenger?
      A: Yes,
      Q: Who sent him?
      A: God
      Q: Who is God?
      A: Jesus
*God Jesus was the messenger of God Jesus. God sends himself as a Messenger of himself
Q: Did Jesus pray when he was alive?
      A: yes,
Q: Whom was he praying for?
      A: For God
      Q: Who is God?
      A: Jesus
*God Jesus worships God Jesus himself
Q: Does God have a beginning?
      A: No
Q: So who was born on December 25th?
      A: Jesus

      Q: Is Jesus a God?
      A: Yes
Q: So how many Gods are there in heaven?
      A: Only one God
      Q: Where is Jesus?
A: He is sitting to the right of God.
Q: So how many gods are there in heaven?
      A: Only one god. Still
      Q: Is Jesus a God?
      A: Yes
Q: So who many seated gods are there?
      A: Only one God?
      Q: Where is Jesus?
A: He is sitting next to the god.
Q: How many gods are in heaven?
      A: Only one.
Q: Are they sitting on the same chair?
A: These words are understood only by the one who has the holy spirit.
*so.. God sacrificed God to God in order to save God's creation from God. God prayed to God for help but God didn't help God, and God killed God with help from humans. And that God is a father of himself and the mother of himself and the son of mother he created at the same time. He is also eternal but his birthday is...?

I had an extended interaction with what was probably an elder - he knew his stuff. The thing with JW’s is that they will proof-text all day long (using specific passages whose interpretation does not contextually fit within the WHOLE counsel of scripture) and they will continually move the goalposts once you refute one of their points.
One of the biggest issues (and there are a TON) with the JW’s is that their very foundations (like the Mormons) are founded upon the teachings of FALSE PROPHETS who fail the test of a true prophet in Deuteronomy 18:22. The guy that I was talking to refused to answer why the founders of the JW (Charles Taze Russel, Judge Rutherford) made numerous false prophecies and yet were considered to have the one and only "truth". My question to him was “How can you base your eternity on a religion whose foundations are based on the revelations and teachings of people who fail the test of a true prophet and whom GOD SAYS "if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him" and subsequently stone that man to death for speaking falsely in the name of God?
He would not answer that question. The truth is right there for all to see; they refuse to see it because the cost is too high (shunning, disfellowship, etc). In the end, they fear man more than they do God - so they will go to hell for the sake of maintaining their toxic relationships with people as woefully deceived as they are. To anyone trapped in this horrible religion, I would implore you to remember something: The truth welcomes honest scrutiny and examination. It welcomes the light, it welcomes testing. Deception does not. People who do not enthusiastically demand that you thoroughly examine your own beliefs, and punish you if you do, are NOT leading you into any form of truth, period. Liars do that. Deceivers do that. Satan does that.
If the foundation of a religion is based on lies and deception (so much so that you have to create your own version of the Bible, something EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN BY GOD [see Revelation 22:18-19]) how on earth do you expect to get anything but lies and deception out of it? Think about it!
