He wasn't Left back then, he asked for a third party review of NAFTA to ensure fair business practices (that is what conservatives pretend to want) and he wanted to make sure government policy wasn't co-opted by religious zealots as it has no place in modern government. Unfortunately, the modern Conservatives are now a party of contradictions with a dwindling percentage of the electorate which is pretty sad as we need a legitimate alternative to Trudeau under FPTP.
