    Our alarm beeps when the batteries need replacing .

      When it's battery there's a different beeping. Anyway I changed the batteries and still beeping occasionally

      @@diaryofmyfrugallife Hhm strange. Is it a carbon monoxide alarm too? Maybe worth checking your boiler if a gas one.

      @butterflyj1967 no. Just smoke alarm. I have an additional 3 smoke alarms and 2 carbon monoxide alarms all fine.

    Have You ever considered to come back to Portugal? Isn't there cheaper to live?

      @OgrodNaTasmanii Portugal is only cheaper for people who have money or get paid from abroad. Portuguese salaries are really bad, and there's barely any help from the government. I left because I couldn't pay for what my son and I needed with my salary. I love living in the UK, can't see me going back.

      @@diaryofmyfrugallife I understand. Living without partner is hard - only one salary is often too little to cover all needs. Can't really see what You can do to save more as You don't spend much money anyway. Maybe grow Your own veggies in the garden?
