Drinking water slowly ( like just sipping/sucking it from a glass/bottle ) for as long as you can without pausing ( breathing through your nose only, keep the sucking motion going) has been super effective for me. Just came here to share

I just spent the last 4 days in persistent hiccup hell. I think it may've been the perfect storm of a bad cold along with gastro-enteric reflux disease, which I didn't realize I had. When I coughed and cleared my throat, I'd bring them on. I've always eaten spicy food, but never got any hiccups from them. Maybe my physiology's changing. I didn't really feel any "heartburn", just fluid coming up when coughing and throat-clearing. I finally took a Nexium last night, and got a full night's rest, hiccup-free. I haven't had them all this morning. I'm hopeful. Some of the many remedies I found on-line worked off and on, but only temporarily. We're in a cold snap, and gulping cold water wasn't pleasant. It felt like it was triggering hypothermia. I didn't even know these things existed. I didn't know how long they'd go on. It was a nightmare.

My 47 yr old son has had intractable persistent hiccups for 2 to 3 years. Has been seeing a doctor who doesn't have a clue as to what to do for them other than all the medication prescribed by you. Nothing has helped and now they're suggesting exploratory surgery. He sometimes can't hold a conversation with anyone because he is hiccuping. He has become so fatigued. His mouth is dry and his voice has become raspy. I think it has affected his breathing. Do you have any suggestions or has he waited too late . I am manifesting his healing and thanking GOD that he be healed.
