I've been binge watching all of your videos for the past week starting with the channel's debut, but I still watch the new releases they day they're published. It's a treat to see the contrast between new and old. They grow up so fast 😢.
Every time there's a new review, I play it, and pause it a few seconds in and just stare at all of that inventory. Amazing collection!

"Nulu" is slang for "New Louisville" and refers to a location in East downtown that has undergone urban renewal. Lots of trendy restaurants, craft distilleries and old commercial buildings transformed into modern apartments in this area.

Knowing a little about coffee roasting, you would probably want to use a very low temperature compared to coffee. Somewhere around 200 to 250 degrees which is pretty low temps for coffee.

Proceduraly the roasting process of the coffee and the malt would pretty much be the same. For a large batch you could use a roaster like they do for coffee although I don't know if coffee residue would effect the malt and vice versa. If you do a small batch, you could just do a slow roast in the oven similar to toasting nuts. Every few minutes move them around until you get the color you want. If you use it right away, all of the natural oils will be there to give that much more flavor to the whiskey.
If you can find it, and if they still make it, the brewers series from new holland or new Belgium, can't remember which one. But the brewers series specifically, uses brewers and roasted malts, the mash bill changes and is typically atypical. But the results are super interesting and particularly delicious. I had a bottle of Walleye Rye and I have yet to find a bottle of rye that has so much to offer and is equally unique at a low to mid level price point

Totally unrelated but you know when you live in a no liquor on Sunday place and you run out of your favorite so you end up mixing together what you have on hand? Sunday was Elijah Craig Bourbon mixed with apple bird dog whiskey a shot of orange bitters and lemon juice..... It was actually damn good!

If you’re interested in a coffee note try malting or roasting the rye you put in your mash. Try that in a young Texas bourbon with a heavier char and you might get a s’more note?

There is another reason companies above a certain size are past the point of worry : If something changes, they have enough financial mass to be able to stay in business long enough to adapt. Good small companies are nimble because they *have* to be, not because they want to be on their toes all the time.

My barrel pick group picked a Nulu not too long ago and it was like gasoline. I'm pretty easy going with bourbons but this was absolutely the worst I've ever had.

If price were similar in all areas of availability that would be great, unfortunately price and availability vary greatly, so whatever they say would apply for some but not for all.

@@chrisbrookerd No, it isn't hard, it's just not relevant for anyone where availability and price doesn't match what the channel presents. The channels I've seen that do, generally note MSRP and secondary market. I've never bought on the secondary market and seldom find whatever they're reviewing for MSRP if it's available in my area at all. So, wasted content time in my view. But to each his own.
