What a voice! The diction, emotion, and the style are just perfect. I must heard this song thousands of time over the decades, only this rendition touched me as deeply as the original.
Tell you what the first time I heard this atta Dan Hill I did not know who he was but I was driving with my GF at the time and she lost it. I mean really, really lost it. So much so I had to pull over and hold her. She was shaking like a leaf. She never explained but it had to be something in her past. She was a beautiful Soul but she knew of Dan Hill. We sat for some minutes after it ended on the car radio before she was composed enough for us to drive off. Yeah it got to me too. Come to find she had never heard it and you know this starts off right straight away very emotional. It musta been a fresh release this was sometime in the late 70's. They'll never be another person that can sing this like Dan. It was his biggest ever hit. You know some songs make their mark so strongly that 50 years later they're still being played. This is one of those classic songs.
