*My br600 and br430 are both leaking oil around the bottom engine pan and neither will run properly. What do you charge for an engine reseal on these blowers or what should I expect to pay for this job? I've heard it consists of removing the engine from the blower to be able to remove the engine pan and re seal it with gasket maker and replace the crankshaft seals. Thanks in advance.*
Sorry, i do not do this for a living so i do not know. I would think a pro could do this job in an hour and the seals are not expensive but i suspect they might suggest you have other parts replaced while they are in there. And if they use genuine stihl parts it could get expensive real fast. Sorry i do not have a better answer for you. Im going to try and finish this one real soon. Right now im back to trying to save my ms290 saw.
@@stevewatr *I hear ya on that and appreciate your fast response. I have an ms251 woodboss saw that I need to replace the piston/ cylinder on as well. As for the blowers I'm trying to figure out if they are worth repairing, I'm willing to pay $100 per blower with parts and labor but any more than that is not worth it in my opinion.*
With sufficient compression, and good spark it shouldve fired when gas was introduced into the cylinder via the spark plug hole. I'm actually betting on the coil. They're finicky when on the fritz, but sweet when running correctly. A very necessary tool for me and my detail would suffer tremendously without mine.
I been a gardener for 15 year and that kind of blower has a weird design, the oil you saw coming out usually goes to the piston and loose power after few months from brand new, personally i never like it because the way is built and no so strong.
since there is already snow on the ground i dont think you need the blower now,lol..... might be another Noreaster next weekend, its too early for this crap. the only thing i can think of is a broken flywheel key or a valve adjustment if adjustable???? that pull rope seems very short too
Maybe the previous owner broke the recoil unsuccessfully trying to start it, and the extra oil you found was introduced into the cylinder in hopes of bumping up the compression a little because of worn rings? idk
@@1WHITEBOY32 lol, I'll see what I can do about getting back to this repair. Even if I do figure this out, Cleveland might be tough to get to with the holidays around this close.
Hi steve; so what became of this? I've had and rebuilt several of these , and their cousins ,,,, 2 things common that might give grief , as mentioned in other comments 1) timing/flywheel key, 2) tappet clearance on valves, ,,,,, flywheel key not likely to load shear on these BUT guys do sometimes use the flyweight bolt to freeze the crank when removing the impeller ,,,, *big no-no* --- and the tappets/valves do get mushed,,,, unless you have more patience and are braver than I, *DO NOT* mess with the cam
Its sitting in a box, waiting for me to get back around to it. I appreciate your advice. What's so darn frustrating to me is why cant I get so much as a pop out of it?? Is the compression that low?? It seems to have some compression, and spark.
@@stevewatr *_IF_* the flywheel Key (not so much a key , as it is cast as part of the flywheel has been sheared by someone holding the flywheel when trying to remove the impeller and it is more than a couple of degrees off of where it should be during spark initiation , you would get *EXACTLY* zero _"much as a pop out of it"_ !!! also true in some cases where the tappets are not opening the valves properly (tho there is i a bit more leeway in that case)
Steve Watroba is there a good video of how too properly rebuild one of these. I have several 600s with bad crank bearings I would like to rebuild. I started on one and used the flywheel in a vise to hold to get the hard impeller bolt off. It came off. Now just looking how to rebuild.
Lol. Coming soon! I just recently decided to get back to this project. New crankshaftseals, and a used replacement crankshaft and piston are sitting on my workbench waiting for me,
I have seen alot of videos since i just got a used 600 that wasn't running. By far this is the best one I've seen. Thanks!
Your welcome.

Hi
Have you please produced a video showing how to test the coil etc?
My 600 will not start no matter what I do
Thanks !!
Hi, the side you cut the gasket don’t have a gasket on that side.
Did you check for spark!
best video

Where did you pull the spark plug from??

Hmm, broken key throwing the timing off??? I'll have to check that, thanks.
You can log onto Stihl and download a free complete manual for this machine.
Well done….thank u sir….
Did you ever figure out what was wrong? I'm guessing the valves were loose.
No, I stopped messing with it. I'll get back to it eventually. Someone suggested the flywheel key may have sheared.
Hi though you have spark the timing maybe off also the coil might not de producing enough energy. Good luck.
Someone else also mentioned timing. I'll check for a sheared key on the crank next. Thanks.
Check the crank seals and bearings. Blowers are famous or that problem.
What type of oil do you use in the gas tank
Does anyone know????
@@ronwilliamgeraldarnott57 modern 2 stroke oil mixed to a 50:1 ratio
Thanks buddy for the info 👍 that is what I use,but I wanted to make sure 👍 and I just put in a tune- up and set the valves on it
New spark plug and all the filters now it runs like new again Thanks

That was my guess about the oil. We may never know.
Could be a handy blower to have if she'll go. @@stevewatr
Hi, is there going to be a part 3
Yes. I'm currently finishing up a couple other projects like the Stihl chainsaw, and a Hammond grinder. I'll try and get it back on the bench soon.
Hurry up!
Ive got one in Cleveland you can come down and fix.....

Part 3 already... Just reply what happened would be sufficient, and what you did.
You work on a lot small engine repairs
you have the off position ;) On is the middle

When you give it throttle it releases choke.
Thanks, I finally figured out how that lock button on the trigger works.
Camt you manually hold it closed? Even while engaging the throttle?
