Way better than electronic. They never go obsolete. Great video.

John McMaster That's pretty much the way I see it too.

grayfurnaceman John McMaster Not to mention quiet and fast, too! It's hard to find an electric damper actuator that's both fast AND quiet. Most of the fast ones are real screamers, and the quiet ones move at a snail's pace. Pneumatic controls get an unfairly bad rap. There are a lot of poorly maintained and misunderstood systems out there, and I think that has a lot to do with it. A properly designed and maintained pneumatic control system works extremely well.

I don’t know what world you all work in, but pneumatic systems are the dinosaur 🦕 of the HVAC controls (old, antiquated and use an absorbent amount of energy ). If you enjoy a world of air leaks , loud compressors , line moisture , inaccuracy , slow, response time & poorly maintained systems ,be my guest /pneumatic systems are for you 💨. I will take a properly design electronic /wi-Fi system over a properly design pneumatic system system any day of the week .

Great video. Those damper actuators can be a lot of fun especially with their different spring ranges like minimum position dampers. You should get into the topic of direct acting and reverse acting systems and how they work along with NO and NC valves and pneumatic controllers that would be a very interesting series.

mechanicwarrior20 I have been on the lookout for some of these devices. When I find some I will do a series on them. It could get quite long.

Keep the air clean and dry and it will probably outlast your career. Much more dependable than electronic.
