Why would they give you a deal when you chose to by it by itself the first time. It's not the associates job to tell you about every tool deal they have, do your research prior to checkout.

2 years ago I got a 40 volt kobalt weed eater on clearance for 48 bucks. Charger included, plus the battery. An extra battery sold for 79. So if I wanted a backup battery the thought was just get 2 weed eaters.

I'd have done the same...be a pain though as I live 110 miles round trip from Lowes...we have a cordless DeWalt weed eater...I love it

Something does not seem right about this story, you can return any Craftsman products for up to 90 days... so there should have been no issue. If the manager did not want to follow Lowes company policy then you should be letting corporate know their name to correct their behavior.
