Cool build! Would be fun to do one of these on an L1000.
My thoughts exactly! That sims to nearly Mach 3. A little terrifying, haha
I used JB weld exclusively for my L1 build (zephyr). All I had on hand was 5 min epoxy and JB, and I didn't feel like waiting for an order to come in. It probably weighed about an ounce heavier than it should have, but she's a stout rocket.

Haha, I've been using JB too! My last minimum diameter. I cut fin tabs/tube slots but made the tabs shorter, and the motor sits against them but not glued to it, even though I like your idea better for Mach 1.

JB weld can be very finnicky with ratios and mixing. Also a good idea to make sure it cures in a warm area.
Honestly, small electronic bays are easy if you plan your space accordingly. I’ve learned to leave extra space since I’ll need it for my 1 inch ebays. Just extend lengthwise
You should look into making an arming switch using a screw and two nuts. When off, the screw is only screwed into one nut. The screw being screwed into both nuts completes the circuit between them through the threads, and is very secure. Even if the screw loosens through vibration, it still makes contact through the threads of the nuts. It only takes a small hole in the fuselage to stick an Allen key in to switch it too. Copper/aluminum nuts and screws work the best.

choice to exclude a switch is deliberate. More components means more space taken up and an added potential failure point.
Given that both charges fired, I'm comfortable in ruling out the electronics turning off as a failure point. Twist and tape prevails lol

I have a question. What is that launch guide design called? I've never seen it anywhere, but I invented a similar thing on my own (I have a video on my channel with a launch from a similar thing). So really curious if that design has a real name and who invented it first
It's a pretty standard launch tower. They've been used for decades
What would the extra 8oz of weight have done to your performance if you brought the 54mm tube all the way to the bottom of the motor and made a reusable rocket?

awesome build! Quick question, obviously this depends on how its built but would a minimum diameter 54 on the loki 54 M be possible. or has someone done that already ive just always fantasized over the idea of it. Also I had a flight at airfest where one of the two altimeter leads which was taped to the side of the rocket as how you do it came un done with a just over mach flight. a little scary but luckily I had a backup. gonna use switches from now on.
It has been done! I saw one with surface mount only fins with no tip to tip take a Loki 54mm M in Argonia a few years ago.
Gotta twist lots on those leads!
If you had a choice between Proline and JB weld, which one would you prefer?
Honestly, at this point, I'm not sure. Using a lot of JB Weld can get pretty pricey and it's heavy. On the other hand, it's lovely to work with readily available.
