So glad you are on the mend. Have missed you. Your videos along with your humor have helped me get through 6 years of cancer and life changing leftovers. I am not who i once was but you inspired me to be a machinist in my new life. I am nearing 70 and have bought a lathe and milling machine and am building a shop for them so I can work through your videos. Teaching my brain new things has made my life worth living again. Thanks for the help.
This man was part of the reason I bought my lathe and milling machine,,along with many other tools.. If you don’t have them already,,Get yourself a drill press,,a bandsaw,, some basic welding equipment/cutting/brazing torch and a disc/belt sander and you’re pretty much set to do anything..It’s great being able to walk into your garage and perform any type of function needed to build or fix something..
Marc, you are one of my very most favorite RUclips producers because of your knowledge, humor and sincere help you provide. I have learned and continue to learn from you so much. I’m sorry to hear of your health issues, don’t give up the struggle. Every time I watch you, I wish had you for a neighbor. Thanks for being the nicest guy and best teacher on the interweb. I wish you the very best and selfishly just want you around to interact with. You have inspired me and you continue to do so with your courage. Be well friend.
I've been dealing with metastatic bowel cancer for almost two years now, and I can absolutely say that continuing to do things is how you get through it best. Fight on my friend!
I just want you to know that your videos/website/learning courses are very well put together. They are very much appreciated and helpful to me and I'm sure thousands of other people. You are reaching way more people now and your previous teacher experience shows. I'm also glad that you are feeling better now. If some day you run out of areas to cover on machining maybe, you could do some project style videos and share the plans. It could be a useful tool of just a fun toy ect.
It's good to see you doing better! Take care of yourself, enjoy life, and do what makes you happy. If it's making videos, we'll watch them. If it's traveling and spending time with family, you can sleep soundly knowing you have a good catalog of content for us to consume every time we stumble through a project and need a bit of help.
You are and have been a teacher to me... and along with some help from my Dad before his time came, got me started in machining. Your video series was the first and still the best I have found regarding an organized way of starting from scratch on the road to being able to safely (very important to me) learn the fundementals of machining. Thank you for your efforts and your time. Welcome back and I hope you hang around for many many years to come.
God Bless you Marc. I think I speak for all when I say your love of teaching shows itself in every video you ever made. We all thank you for all you have taught us, Especially the Hobbyists such as myself. As someone who suffers from depression, I have learned that the opposite of depression is NOT happiness. Rather it is enthusiasm brought on by problem solving using skills in different, and unconventional applications . Both of which you do in every video. Good luck my dear friend and may God keep you with us for a long long long time. Now, on a lighter topic, what is that crazy song at the end of every video? Is that you or your son singing? Here in the states, we call it "Cajun" I love it! It always brings a smile to my face & lifts my spirits.
Good to hear your doing better. I have thoroughly enjoyed and found your videos helpful. I hope you have still managed to have enough energy, to do the things in your life the bring you joy. Whatever they may be. Sometimes the hardest thing about health related depression, is the fatigue and feeling like you don't have the energy to what you want. (I have chronic fatigue, so i know this well on some level atleast) So sometimes pushing to do the things that bring you joy, can be the biggest reward and healing for the mind.
Chief, so glad you've gotten over the rough spots. Getting older isn't for the faint of heart. As a teacher, you reach thousands who want to learn. May the good days be ahead. Cheers from NC/USA
I'm wishing you a speedy and complete recovery. I too have prostate cancer, but fortunately for me, a very slow, non aggressive one. Either way it's no fun. Wishing you the best!
Mi Marc, So glad to see you back. I have learned so much from your videos. Hope your treatments are successful and glad you are feeling better, both mentally and physicaly. All the best, Bob
Always enjoy your videos, I look forward to all of them. Glad your health is on the rise. You know I’m still working on your certificate. I’ll finish it some day. 😊
Thank you so much for the update and please make sure you take care of yourself. Remember what the stewardess tells you on the airplane, "put your own mask on before assisting others." Thank you for all you have done for all of us.
Good to hear the treatment is working. I know from personal experience how debilitating radiotherapy can be. A months course of daily radiotherapy sessions left me absolutely knackered, not helped by the 40 mile trip to the hospital each day coupled with the chemotherapy. The support of friends and family is so helpful in overcoming those feelings of helplessness (depression) that can sneak in. So, looking forward to the conclusion of the jigs and fixtures and learning a new aspect of metalworking (punch and dies).
Thank you for talking about this. I just found your channel, and have already learned an enormous amount after just a few videos. You're a gifted teacher, and your calm, earnest delivery is inspiring. I just wanted you to know that you've had a positive impact on my life, and that I hope you keep up the work you've been doing here, as long as you find joy and meaning in doing so.
I glad to see you again, I like very much your teaching skills. Actually your skills are a lot like my father's and it is not found anywhere in the books. God give you the strength to fight. Get well soon. 🙂
Best wishes from the UK , sorry to hear of your health issues and hope you are over the worst. Thanks for all your videos, just do what you feel you can how ever much you can manage and enjoy. Hope your health gets better and better 👍🏻❤️
Glad you are still here. When people say depression, I listen real close. depression is the darkest evil spirit I have ever faced. It is dangerous. Christ bless you and heal you. Hawk
It's good to see you are okay. I am very interested in the punch and die series. I have a spare Roper Whitney #8 punch available if you could use it for that. Just need to figure out shipping to Quebec.
Every time I sharpen a twistdrill I think about you and your videos, you were the one that taught me the correct way of grinding a new edge to a drill in your video. I also try to pass the knowledge to all the students that come to do their metal casting work placement in my shop. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and I wish you all the best!
Great update…wishing you best of health…my prostrate cancer was luckily caught early, hormonal treatment (chemical castration) is rough compared to the radiation treatment I selected
My thoughts are with you. I am on round 3 of ADT after surgery and radiation. 10 years so far. Thank you for continuing on the videos. I have learned a lot from you.
Just found your channel in the past couple months by watching your heat treating videos from 9 years ago. Overwhelming collection of knowledge that you’ve shared with all of us, thank you!! Very glad to hear you’re on the upside of your complications and going to be feeding our eager brains even more!
