    This is way you are my go to holster guy!! I have been looking for an option to have a ring for my olight!! I'll be ordering the Theorm Switchback today so Thank you Shane for all of your hard work it's very much appreciated!! My truck/camping light is my OD Green Warrior 3x which is a bigger strong throwing light about 600 meters and has 3 glass breakers on it! I would love to see you test the glass breaking capability for it plus it already comes with a very cool Oring!

      If you need to attest to the durability an Olight can have, look at the Drain Addict channel. Oliver has been using an R50 Seeker for at least half a decade, and he does not baby his equipment AT ALL.

    Say what you will about olight but this particular switch design with the partial press for low momentary and hard press for high momentary with the side switch being for constant on is a big appeal to me. I wish other brands would integrate this design. The tailcap cycling through brightness is a big no go for a tactical light in my mind.

    Olight is geared toward the collector, issuing the same light over and over again, just in different colors. I have several Olights and they have all been fine, I am a user not a collector. From a user standpoint in my opinion, Sofirn and Wurkkos are just as good as Olight at a third of the price. Olight however is now offering a lifetime warranty on their lights which may be worth the extra money to some.

    I love this light and i have it. Forget about using this as an outdoor light, it doesn't provide the throw enough to illuminate where you're pointing your light at. But for general indoor use, this is really good!

    ive used a mix of Olight units for severat years. yes the copper versions are tanks. i have one that does not see much use because the copper is so heavy. The upshot is that while other makers may simply copper plate their special editions Olight actually uses all copper construction. in my experience Olights are tough and durable - the only real failure Ive seen is that on rare occasions the circuitry in the units glitches and even a freshly charged one won't turn on. Unscrewing the cap and removing the battery then reinserting it and screwing the cap back on corrects the issue. This typically does not reocurr for months.The Odin rifle lights have yet to fail and same is truue for a couple of Baldr Mini pistol lights. My EDC experience with handheld lights has rarely if ever failed and that was due to the user failing to recharge a unit.

    I own olight surefire and stream light. Recently I became aware of fenix. Highly recommend trying out fenix lights. They have some tactical switches that allow instant strobe plus second tatical switch to cycle through high medium low eco etc. and are computerized to come on what ever level you leave it on first. They make some huge lumen numbers that also behave amazing candlea with beam meter distances way beyond competition. Great videos as always, but would love to see you test out fenix lights.

    • @FlashBro-r4w
      @FlashBro-r4w 9 месяцев назад

      That’s cool you have some lights to compare against other light companies.
      I carry a number of Fenix lights myself and they are durable quality lights I’ve not had a problem with.
      Fenix PD36R v1 1,600 lumen. That comes in at 20,000 candela. But what makes this light even more usable is that the die size LED sst40 is larger than most leds. Only downside to this emitter is its green tint.
      Fenix PD35 V3 1,700 lumen light. This is one of their flagship lights and is very capable for a smaller light. It uses the SFT40 emitter and produces 350 meters (31,650 candela) of range.
      BUT….
      Recently I’ve tried out Olight Perun 2 mini 1,100 lumen headlamp, with a paltry 160 meter throw. Now you’re probably wondering why I’m comparing a weaker powered headlamp/ light to bigger lights???
      Well it’s because of this and this ALONE.
      The technology that goes into what’s called a “total internal reflector…. Or…. TIR Optic.
      Olight uses this optic on most their lights as well as this Warrior 3S. In short, that TIR optic makes use of spreading the total lumen output for a more refined and brighter beam.
      When I tried my Olight Perun 2 mini right angle light on moon light mode it was incredibly bright and useful even at the lowest modes.
      That’s why I want to try this light out.

    Interesting to see the hate for Olight. Not really an olight fan, bit they seem to be doing well. A guy I worked with had a Surefire that exploded in the passenger seat of his patrol car. Using surefire batteries. Surefire told him they wouldn't cover it. Left an impression on me. He switched to the Thrunite Scorpion at the time. Olight always seemed cheap, but their new stuff isn't too bad. Just picked up the Warrior 3s, hated it out of the box. Took it out at night and loved it. Extremely useful admin light and seems to fit the bill for tactical. I got it for teaching low light defense courses and wanted an option to show students that bridges the gap between momentary only and EDC lights. I'm going to test it further, but looks promising.

      What is best for one may not be for another. Closest thing I have found to “best” is the Thrunite tn12 pro. Has the same UI Olight is known for. Which in my opinion is the best UI hands down. I just don’t like, although very subtle, the extra bit of “chunkyness” the Olight has to offer, obviously the Olight has the proprietary 21700 with the proprietary charging cord. While the tn12 pro can accept all of the commonly available button top 18650’s I use in my modlite’s, and charges it on the go with a very common usb-c cable. Has a bit more candela than the Olight with all the same great lower admin modes. With that said I almost always grab the modlite 18350 hand held over anything else I just prefer the size because I can drop it in the bottom of my pocket and still pull it out pretty quick with a lanyard I attached to it. For low admin light I use a small twisty keychain light with a quick release magnet I got off Amazon. That way I don’t have to have all the keys in my hand to use it. When I get done with it I just sweep the light over my keys and the magnets usually always connect easily.

    • @junktube4000
      @junktube4000 Год назад

      @@Tony-sy7ed I'm jealous of your Modlite 18350. After looking into a bunch of flashlights today, I wanted a Cloud Defensive MCH HC, which is cheaper than the Modlites. I think I'd get the version with just one setting (turbo), because I wouldn't want to flip past the low setting mode to get to the high mode. Any thoughts on this light? Should I go for the Modlite instead?
      I'm shocked to see that the Thrunite tn12 pro is a similar size (thickness) to the warrior mini (which I EDC) and the tn12 has a brighter candela than the M2R pro. I think I'm done with olight. I might also grab a tn12 pro now for comfortable EDC. I saw you also recommended the PD32v2 in other video comments. Do you like the tn12 more than the PD32v2 now, as a budget option? Thanks!

    • @Tony-sy7ed
      @Tony-sy7ed Год назад +1

      You can’t go wrong with either modlite or cloud. Iv said the same thing about clouds mode selection on the dual head, needs to be high then low and the low isn’t low enough. I’m a fan of clouds color temp but modlite got me in the beginning with the compatibility with surefire scout accessories. Then the batteries that worked in the modlites and surefire DFs also are compatible with other devices I had. My 18650’s are protected so they don’t fit in the cloud lights because they use unprotected cells, unless something has changed. Surefire’s new turbo handhelds should be available pretty soon. But if your open to having many different batteries either one is great. Olight handhelds are great I just don’t like all the proprietary charging system. I think someone else recommended the pd32, maybe. I have recommended the pd36 it has great output but I can’t stand fenix’s UI with output memory. Now I couldn’t recommend either fenix over the Thrunite. I use the moonlight sub lumen output 99% of the time and I want to know when I’m operating a light what output am I getting at turn on. If I hold down the side switch I get very light light and I can ramp up if I need to, if I need all the light I hit the tail switch, there is nothing better than that. If I could get clouds HC output with an admin side switch of the Olight, and the gas pedal tail switch, with an 18350 size, that might be the most game changing light ever made.
