    Hope they mention this more in the show, it is a big deal that Viserys rode Balerion and was his last rider, I think it tells much about Vyseris and his fate as well, the last glimpse of greatness before lesser targaryens and dragons took over.

      Yep, very true. Balerion and Viserys l Targaryen were the last of an Era for House Targaryen. Dragons went into decline and the House hasn't been the same since.
      Perhaps Dany, Aegon (Blackfyre?) and the Valeryon kid I heard that are in the Books can restore what's left of Old Valyria in Westeros, like Aegon and his homies did.

    I like to think, because of Viserys temperament and attitude in the show, and since the show didn't show it and the histories of the books can't know, that Viserys had an actual, good bond with Balerion. That he understood he couldn't make the dragon do anything it didn't want to. That Balerions last ride was something the dragon itself wanted to do. To show Kings landing the power, beauty, dread, and wonder that was the largest dragon to ever live in Westeros. And he wanted to take him to Dragonstone the same way you'd take pap-pap out of the home and on a trip to their childhood home or somewhere important to them like that. I feel like it's kinda fun to imagine that Viserys saw Balerion more like his grandfather than a pet or weapon and that leads to his philosophy on dragons.

    The bigger the dragon, the more food it needs to consume. We saw how much bigger Drogon got compared to his siblings because he ran away from Dany. We also saw Drogon fly over old Valyria. I believe old Valyria is where some dragons feel the urge to go to once they desire more/bigger prey. It would make sense that with Aera being young and seeking adventure, combined with a fearless dragon bigger than every other dragon seeking bigger prey, that she would follow him wherever he wanted to go. They most likely went to old Valyria and it went horribly wrong; Balerion quite literally biting more than he could chew. People also seem to forget how hard it must actually be to ride in the back of a dragon. The bigger the dragon, the more uncomfortable and dangerous it would be. Imagine trying to hold on to the empire state building, now imagine that building is flying in the air like an airplane going 200 miles an hour; that's insanely difficult for any human like creature to do. Aera being as young and as inexperienced as she was probably struggled like crazy to hold on to her dragon, specially if Balerion was fighting something his own size or bigger. She most likely fell into the wrong thing and contracted something. We also have to remember Dany also got very skinny and ill while adventuring with Drogon at first. He didn't feed her and showed no concern for her because he was hurt himself. Aera not wanting to get hurt further probably never left Balerion's back and tried holding on until he finally went back to a safe place; that means starvation.

      Maybe true, but honestly i have a hard time getting a measure of it when Viserys stands by its side. Balerion at the start of the conquest was said to swallow a mammoth whole, for me that skull was very much the size of a mammoth. On the other hand compare it to another dragon we saw, the Caraxes. Daemon can stand by its head and it doesnt dwarf him that much, when the skull of Balerion towers above everything

    • @santyagobustamante7369
      @santyagobustamante7369 2 года назад

      @@paulusillyriusiudathaddaio2530 theres no way that skull is mammoth size, maybe the very small mammoths that were smaller than current elephants i dont remember the name but not the mammoths most people picture when thinking about mammoths, also Balerion got bigger in the almost 100 years after the conquest, he didnt grow much after the first 50 years because of the dragon pit but he was definitely bigger so his skull should've been massive by the time of his death. The thing is tbh it doesnt even matter, G.R.R Martin made some things too big to be even realistic he himself admited to not be great with scale, and if you think about it a dragon the size of Balerion would require and absurd amount of food per day, and he wasnt the only dragon they needed to feed, so how realistically you even feed him and the rest with mediaeval infrastructure, even if we assume he just goes around eating by himself i dont think the lords would be happy about a dragon (multiple of them) permanently eating their livestock. Its fantasy at the end of the day and Balerion or even Vhagar scale is not realistic or practical at any level, i mean the Dragon Pit we are presented is no where even close to be big enough to host Balerion let alone Balerion and multiple dragons so yeah Martin makes some stuff like fortresses, castles and dragons too big but i still wished they made the skull more "accurate to the books" since its only a show piece and you dont need to make the whole dragon

    I speculate that balarion and Aerea went further east, past Valeria and fell victim to one of the creatures said to be a leviathan. Or a sea dragon and that’s where it got it’s scars. And maybe it had some sort of venom that infected aerea.

    • @edwinsoto6932
      @edwinsoto6932 2 года назад +21

      First, considering that leviathans are just massive whales (arguably akin to real-life blue whales), I find the notion that one inflicted Balerion's scars unlikely, to put it mildly.
      Second, unless the venom somehow spawns nightmarish "worms with faces...snakes with hands", ranging in size from that of a finger to that of an arm, I don't think Aerea was infected with venom.
      Finally, the creatures inside Aerea were beings of fire, so sea-related circumstances are not likely.
      The fiery nature of the creatures and the question of where Balerion would go is what suggests Valyria. Balerion's scars, while certainly raising questions, are a secondary matter.

So whatever her and Balerion, who isnt one to run from i imagine anything, ran into must of been pretty intense, theorys, theres most likely some or was unknown dragons there still surviving, Balerion most likely faught one of these, while the princess who knows. A perfect scene where they could've shown Balerion was when Viserys was contemplating his life with Lord Strong, thinking about his legacy. As he was falling asleep they could've showed him having a dream of him riding Balerion when he was a kid. They missed the perfect chance to show him. Hopefully we do get a flashback at some point, maybe even in future seasons. Or maybe when Viserys finally dies they could show a flashback.

    I disagree. Meagor was the rightful heir . Even in polygamy. The eldest child of the first wife inherited even if he was younger. Unless he is attained for treason. Or dis inherited. The father may prefer one over the other but rightfully. Meagor was the heir. Visenya was the First wife and queen. Her eldest son takes precedence.

      @edwinsoto6932 2 года назад +4

      First of all, what laws of succession are you referring to? Which culture? Or are you arguing that the law you're referring to is universal? Unless you're talking about in-universe, in Westeros, in which case...
      Secondly, in Westeros, the succession is based on the monarch, so it is irrelevant which wife gave birth to the firstborn (at least as long as both are considered legal and legitimate); the latter is the monarch's firstborn and thus his heir. Indeed, there is no indication that Aenys's status as Aegon's heir was ever questioned. The only question about Maegor's claim to succession was whether he took precedence over his older brother's daughter. In fact, it is explicitly stated that "it seemed beyond question that Aegon would follow his father, Aenys, just as Aenys would follow Aegon." Maegor was never considered the rightful heir.
      I don't remember any mention of a Westerosi law or tradition that establishes that it is not the lord's legitimate firstborn who inherits, but his first son by his first wife.
      Thirdly, there is no indication that Visenya had primacy over Rhaenys to merit calling her "First wife and queen" (assuming the capital "F" implies a superior position to other wives). Everything we know about Aegon I's reign suggests his wives were equals, their legal power (and title of Queen) lied solely in that they were the monarch's consorts. Which consort married him first doesn't appear to have been relevant.

    • @sarwatarannya8786
      @sarwatarannya8786 2 года назад +6

      Visenya was older than rhaenys but they were both equal in stature, there's no indication that visenya was held in higher regard at all even if she was the first wife. Therefore, aenys is definitely the rightful heir

    Not true, the conquest was less then successful as Aegon failed to eradicate the faith of the seven or break it to its will. This allowed the faith a reprieve and make them casue problems for the royal family in later years. He even accepted the crown they offered in oldtown when their defeat was all but assured. This gave them legitmecy that it did not deserve and also burdened the dragon lords to "protect" the faith when they should all be stamping it out in the first place.

    • @shunyuanliang4397
      @shunyuanliang4397 2 года назад +3

      Note that the Valyrian freedhold allowed different faiths to flourish under their rule but i am sure its due to the fact that the dragon lords retain some measure on control of these religions and they do not allow them to take up arms, keep a standing military force or use violence to spread their religion.

    • @DaHuntsman1
      @DaHuntsman1 2 года назад +2

      @@Audentior_Ito Yeah, keeping the Faith of the Seven was the more pragmatic decision, even if the Targaryens didn't buy into the faith at first, trying to suppress it when they had just taken control would have led to a never-ending war with 6 of the 7 kingdoms, and while yes the Targaryens had dragons, they still relied upon people for taxes, food, and all the other stuff neccessary to support their realm.
