I'm a salt and pepper girl. Try - soaking your grits for about 5 minutes in plain water while your broth is heating up, drain the water from the grits, then cook them in the broth. It is so smooth and creamy.
I'm a salt & pepper grits guy. I've never heard of putting sugar in it except for people who thought it was cream of wheat. I've never had cream of wheat but if it's similar in taste to oatmeal then I agree. I make my grits in a microwave for 8 minutes on medium and they're perfect for one serving, and this is the real grits, not the instant variety. I also preload it with some sea salt and a lot of pepper and then drop the butter in at the 4-minute mark and bon apatite it's perfect. I use the microwave because it's one less pot to clean, just put it in a bowl, cook, eat, clean, and done. Great video and will try this! 😋👍✨💥

I remember watching this video 2 years ago and saving it to my “things to make” playlist. I planned on buying a stand mixer back then so that I can try my hand at baking but never came around to getting the mixer, and I’m way too lazy to try without one. But I finally got a mixer and this was the first thing I made with it tonight, and OMG! These rolls were perfect! Made 30 rolls and all but 3 were eaten at dinner by my family of 5. This has given me so much confidence in baking and I’m excited to try the next thing.

Shrimp & grits is standard in our dinner rotation - great choice! We like ours more on the salty side, and I usually make a gravy with the bacon grease. May have to try your milk/broth technique for sure!

The 1st time I tried grits was at a diner. They were as plain as plain could be. I bought a box to try for myself and added salt and pepper, butter, olive oil, onion, garlic, and fresh parsley. As soon as I tasted it I realized that I ate grits as kid. My mother's Salvadoran and she would mix in leftover red beans and we would eat it with breakfast instead of potatoes. We called it maíz.
I love my grits with salt, pepper, and butter. Then for breakfast syrup, butter and a pinch of salt. Leftovers go in a loaf pan over night, forming "mush" , which is sliced, fried, then butter and syrup. Served with bacon, so good!
