    Thank u so much! I forget that not everyone understands their curls and everyone seems to be transitioning. I've had curly hair all my life so I don't think about the steps consciously since I've done it forever so I had to really think what I did and also do my homework before I made this vid for you :)

  • @shamelessmaya
    @shamelessmaya  12 лет назад

    that's what happened to me too! i was only washing once a week and not adding water throughout the week and messed up my hair! i still wash once a week sometimes twice but i've gone back to twisting my hair at night :)

  • @shamelessmaya
    @shamelessmaya  11 лет назад

    i don't think it matters much. mine is cotton/poly mix. or you could use a micro fibre towel. i'm just use what i have and my skirt does the job :)

  • @shamelessmaya
    @shamelessmaya  12 лет назад

    yes! oops! i meant 2 strand twists. not twist out! thanks Eretta

  • @marquesn77
    @marquesn77 10 лет назад +9

    I totally agree with that point !! About 2 years ago I made a conscious decision to just be the best version of MYSELF that I could be- it was liberating and before I knew it, I didn't want to look like other girls, I wanted to look like me ! :)

  • @shamelessmaya
    @shamelessmaya  11 лет назад

    i don't use any products now besides shea butter :) but when i did have hair i did not use mixed chicks. i prefer more natural ingredients

  • @shamelessmaya
    @shamelessmaya  11 лет назад

    try a 2 strand twist out on dry hair. i have a video on the twist out in my curly playlist. oils generally help "stretch" out my curl which is why curly hair looks longer the "older" it gets between washes. i use coconut oil :)

    Very informative video! I did the Big Chop Monday May 6, 2013! My bottom hair was so thin so I cut it all off!! I want the bottom to be full like the topl My hair was so damaged and broken off! I was going to the salon every 2 weeks! I've been watching the videos the past 6weeks, using the products and my hair has improved drastically!! No more sink full of hair in the morning!! No more hair all over my desk! My hair was falling out w/o touching it. No More! :) And I'm saving money!! Thx!

  • @shamelessmaya
    @shamelessmaya  12 лет назад

    I haven't! I'm lame. Although the cut looks great on me my concern was how it would look if I ever straightened my hair since it's such an unconventional cut

  • @shamelessmaya
    @shamelessmaya  11 лет назад

    i personally don't but i know people who do. i just used water and if it was really frizzy i would use a little product.

    I have crazy, thick, curly hair, and my curls are TIGHT, so it gets big when i leave it down, all in all, I have NEVER been comfortable with it. After watching your videos I feel better about myself, and my hair! I actually look forward to wearing it down now, rather than keep it in braids almost half the time! ^^ Thanks so much girl! i was using it daily :) when i wasn't spritzing daily my hair was a disaster! i'm talking 5 splits per strand! this along with that conditioner saved my hair before donation :) i was so paranoid a kid would get my hair and it would break off and cause them more stress than happiness! thank GOD this worked for me :) or whoever has my hair now :)

    Thank you for this video post! These 5 tips are simple, yet, very important for the overall healthy hair regimen. And yes girl! The T-shirt moment is in full effect! I stopped using a towel the same day I took heat out of my regimen. I have noticed a HUGE difference in how my hair feels and looks after it is washed. I shall never return to those bad habits! Please continue teaching curlies about hair healthy and beauty as well as self love and shamelessness!
    Peace, love, and smiles :)

    This helped alot! When I was younger I used to hate my curls because I live in Hawaii & all the girls here have straight hair, so I permed my hair for about 4 years of my life then I stopped when I was a sophmore, but I would dye my hair so my curls didn't look how they did when I was younger. As I've gotten older I realized that CURLS ARE BEAUTIFUL! & that I need to embrace my mixed hair. I havent dyed my hair for about a year & now I'm trying to bring back some moisture and get healthy curls, this helped me alot! THANKS :)

    I'm relaxed and I watch your videos and learn so much. My hair is "low porosity" so it's very similar to curly hair. It hates silicones, too much protein and is very dry. Ah you're perfect, thanks for this vid!

    • @MissNea9
      @MissNea9 9 лет назад +2

      I know you're not asking me but I have 2 tips : Invest in a diffuser it dries your hair and reduces frizz ... Or start drying hair with a cotton t shirt it reaaally makes a difference.

    • @fabulously695
      @fabulously695 8 лет назад +2

      i dont like diffusers, i have one but avoid it when i can, if you look closely, you have a halo of frizz after diffusing and it makes your hair last less, so more washing. plopping with a cotton shirt and then leaving it too air dry is better

    There are micro fiber head towels that do not cause your hair to frizz, I was looking for one for a while and I found mine at target, 2 for $10 I believe. It comes it different colors and patterns. I know you cut your hair (which by the way you look amazing-brave!) but I love your curly hair, my niece has this exact hair texture. Sending you blessings
