I know this comment is 5 years old, but Jesse's cover was based on the late great Chris Cornell who covered the song like this. Does not at all take away from his performace, but wanted to credit the original of this reimagining :)

I wish this show had more traction this is a better reality audition then the other one is a reason people didn’t watch American Idol this was actually a better show
it sucks that the show never got "traction" in the ratings, but Sunday nights are tough for network TV. At least Jesse got a record deal out of it, and hopefully he'll make it. Grobin and the judges did a good job, given the hybrid~copycat (VOICE/Idol) format.
