- In todays episode we have a look at the "get 120 probes before you attack " challenge. Where I try to not attack before I get 120 probes. No harrasment nothihng. I play two very tense PvP's.
Don't forget to subscribe to my RUclips channel.
My second youtube channel: / @harstemcasts
love you - Игры
I might start to recycle some of the more popular challenges I did before. Any requests to which ones you guys wanna see again?
I loved the challenge where you put all your money into upgrades. Thanks for the content Captain!!
Mass zealot and phoenix
What about an only robo units game?
The mass gate units with no warp gate
You got cannon rushed twice and only played 1 game with the challenge
Do what you want and makes you Happy. Greetings
Challenge: Noahs ark: Before you attack your opponent you must have at least 2 of each unit in your army. Use the Mothership as the ark and attack the opponent with the ark and the herd under it.
Yes, but the mothership must sneak into opponent's main and recall the herd in
34:46 Pushing against a defense of stalkers only to see 14 more warped in at once would terrify me. This madman has something like 24 gateways and an eco to instantly re-max. This is such a cool challenge!!
Kevin over here printing units.
That first game was tough. You did a great job though and I really appreciate how you were a good sport about it and didn’t let the loss get the best of you!
Two challenges:
1) warp-attacks only. You can only attack into your opponent if the units got there via warp to a proxy nexus, from a warp prism, or warped over by a mothership. Defense is fine, but no offensive moves without warping the units across. You are allowed to walk home.
2) F2-defense. You can play any offensive strategy you want, but you can only use F2 A-move for any defensive moves. (alternate, F2-offense: any defensive micro is allowed, but offense must be F2 A-move only)
I like the warp attack one
mass carriers ignore that "detail"
Challenge idea: Build upgrades only on units you don't have any of. Then when you have 3-3 upgrades ready, get all your non-upgraded army killed, and build fast new army of 3-3 units to end the game.
The ultimate transition
@@PropheticShadeZ this would be much easier on Zerg I think, sounds fun
Did it. Stalker-immortal into carriers.
No challenge suggestion, just wanted to say I found this channel from liking your depth of knowledge in casts, and I've been really enjoying the channel! Thanks for doing what you're doing, loving the content. Really enjoy the pro casts you've done on the channel as well, would love to see more of those! Have a good one :)
Left a thumbs up on the video for your words about not mocking players as a part of a challenge. As a veteran War Thunder player, seeing the game go to crap because the top RUclipsrs and Twitch streamers encourage bad gaming behavior and/or sportsmanship, it makes me glad to see someone (albeit in a different game) take a stand against it. 👍👍
Monobattles: After 10 min you can only build one type of unit (maybe apart from Observers, Probes, and Sentries)
- disruptor drops
- more than 10 void rays
- name a fruit every time you queue an unit
- get 10 kills with a ground unit before you win
- harrass ping-pong: you must harrass after being harrassed, can't harrass twice in a row
- must sing a popular song anytime you get attacked
- 50 supply increment attacks: harrass with 50, 100 and 150, deathball with 200
Harass ping pong sounds fun!
"Must sing a popular song every time you get attacked"
Just another day on Partings stream
Honestly I've never played SC2 but I have seen enough of it to know whats going on but i really enjoy watching your vids super under appreciated channel man!
It's free. give it a shot. takes a while to get into it, but it's so fun
The Fake AFK Challenge was great! Pls do that again :)
Challenge idea: "Energy Crisis"
All of your buildings are powered by ONLY one pylon. Aka ALL of your pylons are artosis pylons.
Yeah thanks for refusing to be BM because that's exactly the kind of things that would discourage me so hard.
It wouldn't make me quit but definitely make me want to. Sc2 is frustrating enough just by itself, we're mad against ourselves all the time no need to add insult to mental injuries.
I saw a challenge Puck did where he was in the lower leagues (diamond I think), which allowed him to do things like “win with only sentry’s.”
It was really entertaining. I know it’s not GM league but maybe something to consider with a new account.
Then you’re able to do more challenges and more ridiculous ideas because you aren’t playing against grandmasters.
It’s kind of like how the lower level relays can be the most fun to watch sometimes.
Logan Gaudreau beastyqt got to GM I think with only sentries
That was fun to watch..It would be cool to watch you play some retired Starcraft pro players if you can talk them into it. Your games are very entertaining.
Because of your channel my son has been taking on learning the game..I am happy because I enjoy the game..Thanks.
Sounds like someone has All Along the Watchtower stuck in their head, good choice :)
All along the Watchtower
Protoss kept the view
The classic mechanical keyboard “ click click click”
I kinda get agressive after more than one video xD
Wow that +XP text is actually OP, shows you when you kill units in fog!
have you played starcraft? I mean, I guess it can help a little in certain scenarios, but usually the xp text thing is useless
@@Noah-xh4vr I think you missed the entire point
@@codyheiner3636 no I get it, that you know if you killed several enemies. I guess you're right but usually you would find out the enemies army size soon after anyway
I only just started watching your channel, so I am not sure what you have done yet. But what about:
- monobattle with an unusual unit e.g. only zelots, only oracles, only adepts etc
- mouse only (no keyboard)
- proxy nexus
Hey Chief, love the videos. I still kinda wish we could see a "can't out-expand the opponent" challenge, or even a "can't out-tech the opponent" challenge! "Out-tech" might be hard to define for non-mirror matchups, up to you. Otherwise, a vote for a replay of no warp gate.
Lemme pitch my idea a bit more, if you have time: a lot of these challenges you win just because you can win just by having better macro and having more units (even if crappier) than the opponent. But being a better player usually means you have better (i) economy, (ii) unit control, (iii) army movement, and (iv) tech choices than your opponents. It would be cool if, instead of handicapping your tech choices, you handicapped some of the other things, like economy.
Another possibility would be to require every fight to only have pre-fight micro, no in-fight micro. So you can set up concaves, pop barriers, start guardian shields, but no juggling, no blink etc. I think it would be a refreshing type of challenge!
Temple of doom challenge: after early game win with only high Templar, dark Templar with blink, and archons
lool yesss
PVZ
1. The early game: Take both zerg’s gas geysers with scouting probe and fake a cannon rush to deny mining; then, adept harass while teching up to fast observer for clearing creep and establishing map vision in case of nydus/swarmhost reaction.
2. Mid game: Transition into prism-templar storm drops on drones, with an arcon/disruptor army backbone, using prism warp-ins. Also, make a couple phoenix and have them solely fly around the map to kill overlords and reduce supply while further restricting zerg vision.
3. Late game: Shift to skytoss if needed; otherwise, keep expanding and remaxing with triple splash army composition until zerg is overwhelmed.
PVT
1. All-in proxy stargate into oracle/phoenix into shield battery/tempest with a proxy nexus expansion in your opponent’s natural and third to contain them on one base. Use a probe to build pylons at the various mining locations on the map so you can see if terran gets an scv out of the base.
PVP
1. Early game: Turtle to enable faster mining and rush double gas saturation from main and first expansion, user choice for defensive unit composition. Use a probe to build pylons on the map for vision of key locations.
2. Mid game: Focus on saturating a third and sending out your army to keep the opponent’s back; also, have DT/zealot runbys set up to counter the opponent’s army on the map.
3. Late game: Amass a maxed (or large) army with the goal being to recall that army into the opponent’s main or expansion with one or two motherships.
Didn't know about the new channel.. will go sub.
challenge:
CAN YOU WIN PVZ without wall-ing off :D that's a real challenge.
What would you suggest to do instead of the wall off
@@PropheticShadeZ creating choke points right next to your nexi
challenge:
Without attacking the opponent, attempt to expand to literally every single place and win by starving out your opponent
I thought his could be an outcome of this game, but his opponent didn't expand enough himself to last.
You mean just play Zerg right?
I did this recently in a TvT. I dropped widow mines at every single expansion point on the map, minus my opponent's natural. He couldn't figure out how to get units out of his base, which was good for me because my army cap was so full of mines that I wouldn't have stood a chance if he had managed to break out and start attacking.
@@jimraynor4383 yeah, a protozerg
This would be a very long, and probably quite dull game after the first 10 minutes....
Insanely impressive that you're able to play at this level AND commentate.
You should do a never engage challenge in which you can never advance into an opponent’s army or harass their base or mineral line, just defend and advance your line of defense for them to advance into you. Never destroy any bases of theirs, only contain them in the bases they have taken.
This is particularly painful to watch right after seeing one of the (presumably multiple) games from the "Is it Imba" series where the guy never tries to attack their opponent.
challenge you need to be winning by attacking only with prism drops/warps defensiv units are ok, but no using of units that didn't join an attack by the help of a prism
Also tumbs up for sportsmanship (2:18) made me happy :)
Did it. Rush prism drop into opponent's main. Opponent's army was mispositioned and I spent all my money on more stalkers.
The keyboard is extremely load and annoying. Check out RTX Voice, it works remarkably well and can be used on non-RTX nvidia cards. (I have a friend with it working on a 700 series card)
The og GREEDIEST MAN ALIVE!
Runby Bonanza:
- You can't attack any base with more than 8 units at a time
- You can attack multiple bases at the same time
- You can defend your base with your full army, you just can't attack him with it all at once
- DTs, Carriers and Tempests are forbidden except for defense
Bonus challenge: no early attacks, try to harass the opponent to death in a macro game
Who would build a carrier for defense lol
A Zerg challenge, you choose the opponent level. Creep explosion! Creep the map as soon as possible. Start using a proxy base to be able to creep backwards and sidewards too.
challenge: beat an opponent with the least APM you can. so no unnecessary actions (multiple moves/attacks to the same location, multiple swipes to select units on the screen). for every unnecessary action you do take you have to wait 3 seconds before you can continue playing.
What a guy. Going out of his way not to BM.
challenge:
expand at natural, then do at least two ninja expo, defend harass, and whenever oppenent start pushing, go base trade
Basically only ninja expos allowed after natural and going for macro/basetrade
@@rkanava7245 yes
SC2 is a very exhausting sport of tap-tap keys and agility.
Challenge: you can defend with any unit you like BUT you can only attack your opponent with a ground army consisting of 100% disruptors. You are allowed however to support that ground army with any air unit you like.
25:25 What are all those keys you're clicking! Hot damn!
Play as normal but you can only build one type of unit from each type of production building. (If you build a zealot you can only warp in zealots, if you build an observer your robos can only make observers, etc...)
challenge:
no unit upgrades: no charge, no blink, no storm, etc.
Emil Geisler, that’s Florencio but on harder mode (He gets unit upgrades but no weapon/shield/Armor upgrades)
Oh, the good ol' 10-base stalker push
>Mentions watchtower
Starts singing all along the watchtower
Bruh, are we Cylons?
DT and Void rays only. (If its viable). Also first push comes with the probes. Win with first main push.
Challenge Idea: Technically normal play but your control groups can only contain up to one of each unit.
So only one zealot in each group, with one stalker, etc. Which is just... Bad control groups challenge? Might not actually be fun.
Why do sc2 proplayers faceroll there keyboard for no reason? Never understood this
Could have just run a ton of workers per base and/or multiple bases per mineral field. Not "optimal" but hey.. there's ways around every rule ;) Maybe re-try this doing that? lol
Link to the other channel??
can I ask a question, I have watched several of your videos, and....why do you keep just repeat pressing as many keys as you can? is it to make us the viewers dizzy? cuz I can't see that you are actually doing anything meaningful, just switching around for the sake of pressing lots of keys and getting high amp? or maybe I just suck and have no idea what you are actually doing. also making probes go around in circles by pressing right mouse button like 30 times per minute. Just a question...no offense intended.
i heard it's to warm up your fingers ect. so you are up and running once the game gets to a point where you need that much... also i guess some might just be random clicks for no reason, like most ppl do afaik
John Uferbach it also artificially boosts the APM. But yeah, as you said it keeps the fingers active and allows you to respond and act faster. It also keeps you aware of things.
Challenge: win a match with a beginner level APM ie
He disruptor-ed his own mineral line at 10:03 lol
He wanted kill dt as he didn't have detectin
There are karmic forces working in your favor Harstem.
Challenge: Get one of every unit before attacking
Idk if you've done that before, I just started watching your channel
@harstem can you do this channel: you can make only 2 units that attack, doesnt matter as long as it attacks byt only 1 supporting unit (such as warp prism or observer.)
So basically you can make either an obs or warp prism. Not both and 2 units which attacks
is there a way to see total probe amount? or it require manual calculation onlY?
U can Hover over your supply in the top right and it shows your Army supply and workercount
Very well done!
Imagine playing a game and thinking you did well, then you see this, and find out the guy you played against handicapped himself, and it still took you 20 min to win the game.
Constantly proxy Stargates in corner bases/out of the way places and never actually build any air units.
mind games.
can we see mass archon/shield batteries everywhere?
You should do a challenge where you occupy 3/4 of the map as zerg
APm is a lot less impressive when you realize something like 90% of the clicks/actions are filler with no real purpose beyond inflating apm
those filler are used to train their apm
It's to maintain the momentum, to keep the rhythm.
In the past they also had "real apm", some function that filtered out the usless clicks, i think the koreans still had over 300 real apm.
Even tough its stupid stuff you still show the most important thing of sc2 Harstem after the first game.. u said it: you where to fast. In other words; ur build wasent effecient enough to win with 120 probes. Effeciency is the key to succes in sc2. So good video to illustrate it.
One Challenge: use 50 high templars and 50 dark templars smashing your opponent
I mean for the final killing blow. You can produce any units in the early-mid game to defence, but kill your opponent with 200 supply dark/high templar army. Love your series and your humour, GL HF!
I was really hoping he would show the income graph of the last battle
the Karen was fuming out of him in this one!
How about a "Tower defense" goal is to take and keep the tower(s) in the center of the map for as long as possible
20:10, just so satisfying..
Here's an idea: Defend as you like, but when you attack, only attack with stalkers and you have to blink between every 2 shots.
Beat your opponent without using hotkeys!
are.. are you just randomly clicking to boost your apm? i mean i get you are spamming probes but you are not microing nearly enough at the start to need that much clicking are you
Eva Unit 3 You’ll find a lot of “pro” players do that. Artificially boosting the APM and simply keeping the fingers active.
@@FenekkuKitsune hm. seems inefficient. in a face to face match where the opponent can hear my keyboard i might do it just to get inside their head, but otherwise, i think id rather try to win in as few actions as possible.
i mean you have to think, with all the time these players are spending smashing buttons, they could easily be doing something useful instead like tracking how much time is left on a build, or scouting your next base area
Challange: You are only allowed to create 3 ground army units. So your army will always consist of star gate units.
@4:20 there is KARAK in your 2nd base and u dont even bother killing it?
Have to admit, when i offrace protoss, this is about what i do, except only 100, and like 30-40 gates and much much much worse
Challenge: No more than 12 units or 1 building in a control group (SC 1 style)
You should build a base super close to him and rush his base with all of your probes.
What about Proxy production only? No production allowed on your half of the map.
next challenge: only 20% of your current mouse clicks and keyboard smashes
I dont understand the need to have high apm by just clicking or smashing same button over and over again that doesnt do anything.it doesnt have any useful function..omg high apm 100% win lmao.
Renogunz D Dragon it keeps the fingers active so that you can react to things and act quickly. Like how if you stop playing a certain game for a bit it takes you a bit of time to remember how to play it and get back to your previous skill.
How can you see your worker count?
Zerg mode Stalkers Ruptors...
i like your attitude
challenge queue as zerg and make an infestor and infest the other players probe and then win as protos
funday monday stuff is never gonna work EVER vs gm's yet I still want to believe...
challenge:
Win at a 3:1 resources lost ratio (you:him). No killing your own units.
that was probably this game lmao
I love Harstem!
Challenge idea: Only attack with cloaked units. Can't attack with a unit that isn't cloaked in some way.
Coek but can defend without it's a good one
@@Akheronlevrai Sure that's fine. Just a stipulation on attacking.
No upgrades challenge???
how'd he set hotkeys for things he didnt own yet ? the spaces on the map ? any other hotkey stuff anyone can enlighten me on ?
SC2 allows you to setup camera hotkeys. Basically the same way you make a control group (Ctrl + number) and by double hitting that number you can see the units. You can do the same with the camera (you might need to look at your hotkeys first to ensure it’s setup properly) by using ctrl + function key I.e. f1, f2, f3... then by hitting the appropriate key, say f1, the camera will jump to the position it was in when you hit ctrl + f1.
I’ve heard that a lot of pro players use it, if not all of them. I personally don’t because i find it annoying to setup and use, plus I’m not really looking to be pro and micro my camera or w/e
@@FenekkuKitsune this would help me a lot i think, because of the different expansions i am not good at hitting the right side of the keyboard with my left hand. thank you!
this reminds me of the carbot executor
I would build 16 tempests and hide behind a cannon wall for defense
That last game, wtf....
Does he knows that you're applying this rule while he's fighting against you?
8:56
This killed me 😂😂
respect
Should I make 120 workers in Diamond 3 ?
80~ is fine
can someone explain me why keep clicking? whats the point? it looks like you are bored. never understand why these ''pro players'' do this... its not warcraft 3 :D
Sharkonus APM. Actions per minute. Basically in games like SC2 and even MOBA’s like LoL you’ll find the “big” players constantly clicking and moving about the map with the camera. It’s both to stay alert for things like, say, a sneaky probe or drone thats doing a proxy or a jungler about to gank you. It also helps keep up a high APM. Constantly keep the fingers active so when you have to actually do something you can do it fast.
At least that’s as far as I understand it.
@@FenekkuKitsune you dont have to do insane and meaningless actions to prevent anything. i know that there is idle timer but when you otice something than you do it no matter what.. all you need is good averness. when i play for example brutal co-op or pvp i usually have apm pretty low and still i am able to do same output as if i do hundreds of useless clicking.. if i wont notice for example dark templar than i am f@cked and high apm wont save a thing.. its just confusing myself and mostly miss something important.. i know that you must keep watching map and screen. but chaotic clicking between bases make you too much busy and you lack time for think strategy
The challenge makes it so tje other player doesnt have the harrass that would shut down his bases....
All Zealot challenge !!!
I'd love to see some late came proxy cannons.
I do that. It's not good. It's just what am I gonna do with 5000 minerals in the bank when I need gas for everything I'm building.
This games remind me Has vs Medoed on NationalWars. He made 120 probes and rekt him xD
I think you should be able to defend your half of the map instead of just your bases. That might make it a little more reasonable.
