@icerink239 He died in X1 to help X battle Vile, in X3 he got heavily damaged, in X5 is in this video, and he dies in MMZ4 by beating Weil and being destroyed along with Ragnarok. So that makes 3 times, though people call his accident in X3 also as a death. The point is, he dies too often :P
An excellent end to an excellent series. When Zero truly dies, and that's the end, there's just so much emotion. This paired with his relations with other characters like Iris in X4 really help build his personality. That's why Zero's such a great character. It's also one of the main reasons I dislike the series past this point. "Oh, Zero's fine. And Sigma's still alive." Because of X6, it's like the entire events of X5 didn't matter - like they weren't important... And I think that's a shame.
This scene with the song was really sad and tough to me when i was young. Thats because Zero was born as bad by the evil hand of wily but did good and sacrificed for megaman and peace. It made me cry especially when the memory of Iris came out ;( even the ending song coming out right next to this scene makes it super depressing. Still, this is a good game tho.
Zero needs a break, srsly. How many times does this guy have to get half his body blown off, lose people he cares about, hijacked and forced to fight his friends, wrestle with his old violent programming and identity... and with no real consolation. Is the series creator depressed or something?😅
(continued) Also, the scene at 1:25 is from a battle that took place in a flashback sequence in MMX4, and Iris, the girl at 2:52, was his friend, also from X4. He had to take her out.
it makes me cry each time when I saw 😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔his real pure love for x as his only truthful friend ...i love the friendship between them..zero..you are my favourite love forever 😭😭😭😭😭❤❤❤❤❤love you sooo much
@morbentfel They wanted a very very fast turnaround with making this game. This was supposed to be the final MMX game in the series, and Mega Man Zero was supposed to be them reviving that 'corpse' of Zero to fight X, who went mad when either the virus took him over, or because Zero died for good, ergo all reploids who argue with humans must be maverick.
That was actually the intention of Kenji Inafune. He wanted X5 to be the end of the X series, hence the finality of almost all the endings. The Zero series was intended to come after, which is one reason why I thin kthat X's bad ending is the canon ending (he dreams of building a utopia where humans and reploids live in harmony, which coincides with Megaman Zero's X ruling over a massive city).
Exactly my thoughts on this game. I love the X series so much and this scene is one of the most memorable in my gaming career due to what it represented. I think any fan of the series knew that this had to happen eventually. Peace cannot exist as long as Zero is alive. He was the center of conflict that everyone struggled for because his body was so much more advanced than any other being in the story. Zero knew that he had to be gone for the world to have a chance at peace and that's why he let the Sigma explosion kill him. It was the only way that he could protect X. That's what makes this scene so powerful. Dr. Wily's creations are made for the sole purpose to destroy Dr. Light's creations and in giving his life it was like Zero defied his programming to do what he thought was right. When I was 12 and watching this for the first time I was fighting like hell to hold back the tears. Although I knew it would happen eventually, NOTHING could possibly prepare you for this. Zero has since remained my favorite character in gaming. RIP Zero. You will not be forgotten.
champjr36 zero zero zero! have you ever wondered why was there so much focus on zero when the name of the games are called MEGAMAN X!? keiji inafune the asshole who has been working on megaman longer than anyone else at capcom wanted zero to steal all of the good scenes from megaman. the reason why is because capcom rejected his design for megaman x and I don't blame them. keiji wanted megaman x to be red with a spikey helmet and fights with a sword instead of a arm cannon! so keiji decided to spit in the face of every megaman fan by ruining megaman and forcing people to like zero!
but if the story ended here keiji inafune would have made megaman be the main villain in his own games and if that had happened i debut that megaman would have lasted as long as it did. but if you're a zero fan maybe you wouldn't have cared.
@Manolo2k Funny thing... that's exactly what this game is... the real ending to the X Series. This was supposed to be the entire end for Mega Man X but then Capcom Decided to make Mega Man X6 without Keiji Inafune's consent... and it ended up screwing with the timeline... Megaman X1 -X5 - Megaman Zero 1-4 - Megaman ZX- Advent.
Well, like I said, that was the original intent of the story that Capcom threw a monkey wrench in with X6.Omega, Veil, and all of that stuff wasn't really thought up yet when Kenji was working on MMZ. The series became popular, so Inafune decided to work on some of the plot holes in the later games. Zero's copy body was shattered when he and X did a combined attack called "Final Strike" on Omega during the elf wars and Zero sealed himself in a similar fashion to X6. This is from the audio drama.
@GozetaGX I don't really consider x6-x8 part of the series... Zero was supposed to be dead (totally) at this point, since the MMZ series came after x5, is when his memories start coming back
@lollimonier He knew he had to die in order to restore peace because he realized he was a maverick all along, the start of all chaos traces back to him. He's the 1st maverick, wasn't infected, but created-The original,The Legendary Red Maverick. Not only his death may bring end of the maverick war,it will also relief him from the guilt of the murder of his beloved Iris. To me,Zero is more likely Kenshin Himura from Samurai X.Burdened by his own past & guilt...
i remember the first ime i palyed thiz game i waz 11 years old i passed it with megaman and i got sad becuse zero died and stuff to me thiz game out of all had the most drama and action . i felt sadness just seeing that zero died and then the ending song is even sadder and at the end i was like dam. i miss palying thiz game
@UltramanGaria Well the original creator of Megaman X actually intended the story to end in Megaman X5, but another creator wanted to continue the story. I forgot there names, but you could look it up.That's why the plot in Megaman X6 is a bit odd from the rest.
Well, Dash/Legends was produced during X4 and X5, it featured X's utopia as Eden (unseen ingame). DASH 2 changed it into Heaven (seen ingame). Z feature this as Neo Arcadia, which X ruled. But, Neo Arcadia is only the start. Ciel (french for "sky", dimunitive of "heaven") looks like the Master and Roll, add in Girouette and things started look integrated. ZX even furthers it.
OK, Let me try to clear up some of the confusion of Zero's story with fragments of facts I've picked up. Originally, Kenji Inafune was going to end the X series at X5 and continue the story with MMZ. The story was that the place that Ciel found Zero is exactly where he fell and that it IS the Original Zero.. Note that the damage he took in X5 and the damage shown in MMZ is nearly Identical. However, X6 was made without his knowledge while he was on other projects and had to alter the story.
I never cared about Zero until X4 when they started fleshing him out. Then he became my favorite character in the X series. When this scene hit me I was so sad.
When I was just a lad in middle school, about 1995-96, I actually had a cryptic premonition of this event. I was given a timeframe of 77 months (or 6y, 5mo) from that point. It actually ended up being more like about 5 years more or less. This was a great ending though I was depressed because it meant Zero was gone. In retrospect, while I think X6 screwed this game's canon up, it did hint at wily with the shell of isoc, add to the mystery of Zero, and shoot towards the MMZ series.
@MisterSalvador inafune wanted this to be the last one, but having it end so unexpectedly he decided to let X6 go into production as an apology to the fans for having it end all of a sudden. Then in X7 he didnt have much to do with it, he mostly produced it. X8 he let some other guy have a turn with it and do what ever he wanted with it, and this new guy wanted to change the look to the X cast.
even in his own gam he (almost) died! on Megaman Zero 4 after defeating Wail you'll see that Zero has fallen along with ragnarok, but soon after Ciel's last word you can see his helmet and a figure standing in front of the sun
@burpethead In X3, Zero gave his saber to X, not his buster. In X1 he gave his buster if you didn't get the Light capsule for the buster, but that got somehow fixed.
I'm with you, I've only had a crush for less than two years, but I was practically bawling, I hate having to see Zero go like this, and the music makes the feeling worse T_T WAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! ZERO!!!!!!!!!!
zero si estas escuchando este mensaje simboliza que nunca te olvidaremos ni a ti ni a iris. descansa en paz con el amor de tu vida, que es iris. hasta el proximo "megaman X" zero
@ZuIu2012 Actually if you got to certain Light Capsules in MMX6 with Zero he mentions that he doesn't know who repaired him, the implication that I got was that like Light Wily is now some sort of sentient hologram and that he was the one who fixed Zero up after all Wily would not have his greatest creation out done by Light.
@XXCo0olDudeXX Originally, it was supposed to end here. Capcom made X5 without Keiji Inafune's involvement, who intented this to be the end of X and to be connected directly to the beginning of Megaman Zero series. I've read that X6 made a big discrepancy within the canon Keiji imagined, but he edited some of Megaman Zero story to compensate. I don't know the details tho.
this is one of the saddest moments in video game history. after shadows death and before Lucas fighting his own brother LONG LIVE MEGAMAN X VOTE FOR MEGAMAN X9
I am anxious to know how the old games connect with the X games, I mean, with Megaman 10 comming up, something of about THIS has to be said somewhere on the storyline. By the way, I agree with what you said, that being who create who.
On my previous comment, I meant to say X5 near the end, not X6. It would all have made decent sense if X ended here, followed by Zero series. Since I got totally lost about the story from then on in and nothing beyond X5 made much significance... But then again, some stuff from later X games were pretty interesting. Still, I'd say that the essential is X1 through 5. 6 was a challenge and 7 was very mixed, but X8 was very good. Command Mission had nice characters too.
if i remember in x6 zero went to sleep in a capsule for many years for restore himself and in megaman zero he is found in a capsule so maybe capcom tried to unite the story from x6 to zero series........but x 5 is the end in the manga after all
This is the robot death that tore me up when I first saw this, I was like😭😭😭 but then I said to myself, he's a robot he be rebuilt that's why I didn't get too sad.
I like how they don't even beat around the bush in this ending when it comes to words such as "die", they don't say "shut down sigma" they say it as it is.
I gave it as an example of how non-realistic objects get into games just for the joy of the gamer. Just to point out that storyline and gameplay are seperate things in any game :D
I remember watching this when I finally kicked Sigma's ass, I was finally convinced that Wily had indeed created Zero, and seeing Iris in his memories, and that he had to die to restore the peace. I cried while watching the ending, that shows, how much I loved the MMX series, if you look at the ending credits when it says, "Thanks for playing" you can see that X survived and holds Zero's Lightsaber! But I was glad that Zero came back in MMX6, boy was I glad! :)
@prjibaro1 This is explained badly by the manuals and games, but the basic gist of it is this: Zero figures out his origins in this scene, and in such learns that he was the original robot to carry the virus Reploids are machines copied off of X's design. The virus was to infect and destroy X. Since reploids are based off of X, the virus effects them too. The virus was expelled from Zero's body in the fight with Sigma before X1, but Zero thinks he is the sole carrier, and so must die for peace.
Successfully take down the space colony with either the Enigma or the space shuttle (by beating the boss mavericks with little to no continues when collecting parts) and finish off Sigma as Zero. You can change the ending after destroying the space shuttle by beating Sigma as X.
I almost cried when I encountered this scene from X5... Zero Epically Dies, X got shish-ka-bobbed with Zero... I was shocked when Sigma still managed to do a cheap shot... Man, my memories, they're coming back to me!
@Thegoldandsilverboy7 X1: Zero was badly damaged and his parts held captive by Mavericks (must not've been fun for X, imagining toting Zero's head in a wheelbarrow). X3: No idea X5: "I'm not dead yet, dammit!" Z4: "He's dead... isn't he?" No, I don't think so. With as many times that he's died and come back, I bet he's still out there, somewhere, somehow. Zero doesn't die easily, and something like Ragnarok isn't near enough to do him in.
actually if you look near the lens flare(shiny thing on the right) you can see a sillhouette of someone and they're holding the z-saber so he might be alive
Well,X5 was supposed to b the ending of the X series but capcom said to make an X6 so the money would roll in and such,ya know. And to clear things, the timeline goes like this: X->X5->Zero & X get destroyed->X is being repaired by Dr. Light->X6 story line takes place-> in the middle of X6, Zero is seen alive again->X6 ends->zero gets sealed->Megaman Zero storyline takes place. And bout the virusses, ill cover it another time, when im not so buzy like now.
@UmbraMooh How if Wily didn't know X existed, he was focused on the original Megaman wasn't he? :S (in fact isn't that one of the rumors circulating that the original Megaman was eventually killed by Zero?)
@Luxai The robots of the X series are not part human. They are machines with the capacity to grow and learn and go beyond their initial programming, making them human-like, but they are not in any way made of human parts.
The way I see it is that Zero transferred himself to a new body after this, and then later Dr. Weil finds this one and turns it into Omega Zero in the MMZ series. Makes a bit more sense than magical auto-repair.
Capcom: and then you'll be a virus program in megaman network transmission. Zero: let me guess, i die at the end of that too, don't i? Capcom: actually you live and decide to explore the cyberworld. then you never appear again for the rest of the battle network series. Zero: oh, great...
Though Zero's initially created to destroy Reploids (as programmed by Dr. Wily), Zero made a decision to destroy the virus not only to help X, but also to maintain peace. His encounter with Sigma, his creator, Iris, and X are the memories that are part of his meaning of life. He believed that in order restore peace, he has to die because his virus has been a burden for so long.
actually CM happened before X8 since in CM axl was searching for his origin story and in X8 he knows he's a prototype model for the new generations that has the copy ability.
It's ironic.
Dr. Light's final creation and Dr. Wily's final creation turned out to be best friends.
+DrakeX93 DO you think who save X when Zero died ? this music is so sad
I've heard sadder, like Emotion from Pokemon Black And White.
ok got it
i also said that a year ago
Still, this is a good game tho.
that's a very good point here!😊
//This is one of the reasons why X5 is my favourite Mega Man X game... and why Zero is my favourite fictional character...
You're really overrating Zero as a character...
@@philithegamer8265 so who is better? your shitty OC or something?
Zero needs a break, srsly. How many times does this guy have to get half his body blown off, lose people he cares about, hijacked and forced to fight his friends, wrestle with his old violent programming and identity... and with no real consolation. Is the series creator depressed or something?😅
(continued) Also, the scene at 1:25 is from a battle that took place in a flashback sequence in MMX4, and Iris, the girl at 2:52, was his friend, also from X4. He had to take her out.
que final tan tirste , un final inesperado totalmente por mi
it makes me cry each time when I saw 😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔his real pure love for x as his only truthful friend ...i love the friendship between them..zero..you are my favourite love forever 😭😭😭😭😭❤❤❤❤❤love you sooo much
Zero... Is so... Awesome
What a fitting end.
One of the most badass characters of all time.
A fucking trauma when i saw him die the first time
How is Zero badass?
@morbentfel They wanted a very very fast turnaround with making this game. This was supposed to be the final MMX game in the series, and Mega Man Zero was supposed to be them reviving that 'corpse' of Zero to fight X, who went mad when either the virus took him over, or because Zero died for good, ergo all reploids who argue with humans must be maverick.
Dro... Drop dead...
got to say, that was one hell of a badass line :)
This is fr memories 😭😭😭💯
Rest in peace Zero until one hundred years because you will wake up in a new era
To me, this is where the story should have, and did end. The later games were fun, but the story all but went flat.
+rockmenx8xx F**k you a*****e !!
0:28 IMMA CHARGIN MAH LAZER!!!!!
ZERO fucks were given.

@UltramanGaria
Well the original creator of Megaman X actually intended the story to end in Megaman X5, but another creator wanted to continue the story. I forgot there names, but you could look it up.That's why the plot in Megaman X6 is a bit odd from the rest.
Zero, in this story will join his Iris.
Indeed, the old virus (zero virus) was never fully removed from zero. And the part on a reploids head is something like the eye, something vulnerable.
Holy shit they killed a fucking icon of the series that's brutal
They dragged him back after this game dude.
@@philithegamer8265 that's the problem
X series should have ended after 5, knowing even 5 was mediocre
But hey at least we have the Zero and Ex series
X was the icon of the series
i played all parts and endings are some emotional they almost make me cry
@MisterSalvador
inafune wanted this to be the last one, but having it end so unexpectedly he decided to let X6 go into production as an apology to the fans for having it end all of a sudden. Then in X7 he didnt have much to do with it, he mostly produced it. X8 he let some other guy have a turn with it and do what ever he wanted with it, and this new guy wanted to change the look to the X cast.
when I heard this song combine with seeing X destroyed I really friggin' cried.
even in his own gam he (almost) died! on Megaman Zero 4 after defeating Wail you'll see that Zero has fallen along with ragnarok, but soon after Ciel's last word you can see his helmet and a figure standing in front of the sun
Very correct.
The Zero series was adapted to support X6 and so on, despite X5 was the originial start of Zero and the end of X.
zero si estas escuchando este mensaje simboliza que nunca te olvidaremos ni a ti ni a iris.
descansa en paz con el amor de tu vida, que es iris.
hasta el proximo "megaman X" zero
@ZuIu2012 Actually if you got to certain Light Capsules in MMX6 with Zero he mentions that he doesn't know who repaired him, the implication that I got was that like Light Wily is now some sort of sentient hologram and that he was the one who fixed Zero up after all Wily would not have his greatest creation out done by Light.
@burpethead also if you chose zero in the character select screen you'll be able to use the z buster.
@XXCo0olDudeXX
Originally, it was supposed to end here.
@legionofpie -pats him on the shoulder- I know....I know.
the Iris part fucked me up so much as a kid, and now it hits harder now after going through a breakup...

this is one of the saddest moments in video game history. after shadows death and before Lucas fighting his own brother
LONG LIVE MEGAMAN X VOTE FOR MEGAMAN X9
I'm still crying
if i remember in x6 zero went to sleep in a capsule for many years for restore himself and in megaman zero he is found in a capsule so maybe capcom tried to unite the story from x6 to zero series........but x 5 is the end in the manga after all
This is the robot death that tore me up when I first saw this, I was like😭😭😭 but then I said to myself, he's a robot he be rebuilt that's why I didn't get too sad.
Man I miss these good old days 😭
I cried when I saw this....literally, I really DID cry.
@prjibaro1 This is explained badly by the manuals and games, but the basic gist of it is this:
Zero figures out his origins in this scene, and in such learns that he was the original robot to carry the virus Reploids are machines copied off of X's design.
"...Iris...I`m sorry...." One of the saddest phases in videogame history
I almost cried when I encountered this scene from X5... Zero Epically Dies, X got shish-ka-bobbed with Zero... I was shocked when Sigma still managed to do a cheap shot... Man, my memories, they're coming back to me!
@Thegoldandsilverboy7
X1: Zero was badly damaged and his parts held captive by Mavericks (must not've been fun for X, imagining toting Zero's head in a wheelbarrow).
X3: No idea
X5: "I'm not dead yet, dammit!"
Z4: "He's dead... isn't he?" No, I don't think so.
Zero... I don't believe it... you were the most awesome, and most bad ass hero of all time... you were cool... and now... you can Rest In Peace. T_T
Well,X5 was supposed to b the ending of the X series but capcom said to make an X6 so the money would roll in and such,ya know.
And to clear things, the timeline goes like this:
X->X5->Zero & X get destroyed->X is being repaired by Dr.
And your statement = Win. Couldn't have said it better myself.
