Instead of queerbating or a fetishized gay relationship, we got an actual canon healthy relationship between two men in a sports anime. Maybe there is some good in the world.
YES YOU GET ME. It's not yaoi. It's a sports anime with a healthy couple, that happen to both be men. So what. They helped each other, that's healthy. The plot focuses on how Yuri and Victor and Yurio and MORE grow as PEOPLE. It shows they have flaws too and that's nice. Though queerbaiting can be debatable, it's mostly seen as canon that they're together now.
Coming back to watch this after the official news of the cancellation of ice adolescence ;-; I remember watching and re-watching these previews and teaser trailers for yuri on ice in 2015-ish, before any official trailer ever even came out and being so excited because the music and the clear passion behind this project moved me. I don't know what went on behind the scenes to have led to the cancellation, I am just sad. I hope someday Kubo-sensei can share with us details of what she wanted ice adolescence to be so that we can at least dream about it in our dreams and our fan writings. I would also KILL to see the unfinished animations. Like surely they have cut footage ;;;;;;

That, someday, we will get a season two of Yuri!!! on Ice and the Ice Adolescence movie. It has been years, but we still cling to that hope. ALSO oh my god the music is wanting me to pick up my violin and start playing, which I haven't played in a few weeks since I haven't had any motivation... Looking forward to this.

I used to figure skate back when I was young, my struggle didn't start out on the ice, it started from my skates. LOL... I still remember my first pair of skates, it didn't take too long to break them in, but boy, my 2nd pair of skates was a nightmare... it hurt sooooo bad that even simply wearing them for 30 mins was good enough to make me want to cut off my own feet. Figure skating isn't just some sport that requires lots of practice, it's a sport that demands balance, strength, speed, timing, precise control of all body parts.... and on top of all of that, you gotta make it look elegant. This anime looks like it's going to be really good, can't wait to see!!

The amount of love they put into this project.... Think about it, even the trailer... Most anime trailers are only made of pieces of the anime, but they animated this trailer separately. I mean, just wow...
There's something incredibly visceral about the sound of ice being carved like this, I can't wait to watch these sequences in full routines! The animation puts me in high hopes and the nostalgia of the figure skating world for me is something I look forward to experiencing.

There's something incredibly visceral about the sound of ice being carved like this, I can't wait to watch these sequences in full routines! The animation puts me in high hopes and the nostalgia of the figure skating world for me is something I look forward to experiencing.
Let's not forget about the OST, I AM SURE THE SOUNDTRACK IS GOING TO BE GOLD, and prolly 50% of the reason I'll cry for this anime
