    This new series has been very insightful, getting to know our Singaporean roots. Hopefully in future episodes, we get to see other culture's old trades too!

    So much respect for Kelvin! He's so passionate about his business in making traditional kuehs, and so patient yet entertaining in teaching the talents!

    Ah yes Ang ku kueh... My childhood...
    A hard dish to master, especially with the dough/ skin making part.
    Boiling hot water that has mixed with the glutinous flour quickly...
    But to what I know, you can't replace this part with machinery work.
    Unfortunately.

    When i was in Xiamen, local told me they seldom eat these stuff because it is mostly for prayer purpose and sold to tourist. In Singapore, it become a national heritage.

    You realise that at the back of the challengers .. there’s like a whole bunch of mold behind Chika

    • @susielee5615
      @susielee5615 2 года назад +2

      Yeah but this sort of thing is still pricy. Not much ppl would do moulds like this anymore. Plus they have a workshop to teach others (kids, adult, elders) no one likes their things broken right?

    Apologies for this negative feedback. I want to give feedback that the audio quality for this video is lacking. The volume is inconsistent and jarring. The cuts between scenes and background music is confusing.

    Adria should have removed her nail polish before getting her hands into the mixing of flour cause of hygiene purposes. She even put her hand inside the hot water (8:04) to stir !? omg

      I am rather surprised that most of them were wearing jewellery like rings, bangles and bracelets when kneading the dough and paste. Aren’t they worried to drop into the food during preparation. Imagine these articles may also trap food debris that can contaminate food during preparation. Omg

    • @rachelcookie321
      @rachelcookie321 2 года назад

      They aren’t selling the dough they made. It probably all just got thrown out because it wasn’t good enough quality. So it doesn’t really matter how hygienic it is.

    I don't know how I feel about the girls handling dough with a full set of painted nails. Even the owner wearing a ring while handling the kueh distracted me.

    Uhhh im 23 and i wouldnt eat ang ku kueh coz its too oily....my throat....x.x i see the oily dough and the oil put in i just lost my appetite for lunch. mochi is better. maybe can make a not oily ang ku kueh with nicer fillings like strawberry jelly then i will eat. lol, i am literally describing mochi...just make mochi la. sg so hard to find mochi, i run all over dondondonki also cannot find the deliciously light japanese mochi

    • @rachelcookie321

      You don’t need to be so negative. You don’t have to like it but many people do and it’s important part of Singapore heritage. They shouldn’t just replace it with mochi.
