Keep thinking of this comment. Your other comment (on the cam auto video) I perceived as critical of the channel, and now I feel stupid. Thank you so much for saying this! Makes me feel awesome!
Absolutely love that you showed the push marks. Other videos make you think that they glassed it without sanding and we all know that's not always possible. One of the best videos online right now I would say.
Hand down the best step by step explanation I have seen on a RUclips channel. Keep it up bro. I have been watching you for a while and this video alone has answered so many of my questions it’s unreal. Love the illustration as well.
Dent Vets PDR Training maybe we served together? I was at KMCAS Kaneohe Bay from 90-93, Camp Pendleton 93-96, Oki 96-97 & back to Camp Pen in ‘97. Gulf War in ‘91 with a Security Detachment from KBay.
Dude ur videos r great like the originality of the repair video not like the other artificial videos on RUclips.your videos speak a lot about u honesty. Thanks bro
Thanks man! My partners and I Decided on the new name because we wanted to show what this job, and what this industry are really like. Acting like Gods that never make mistakes doesn’t really help. Seeing how we screw up and fix the issue will give people confidence who eventually make the same mistake. We may not look as cool, but we hope it helps people get better faster!
So using the tolecut was just basically refining the actual surface of the paint. The small little amount or creases or texture in the metal must still be there. Still looks great and like you said customer definitely won't see this.
Love the video!! Glad you're a dent guy and not a video/illustrator guy!! Your tips have helped save me hundreds on my wife's car. Do you have any advice or tips for working out dents, both large and small, on classic motorcycle tanks?
currently at Auto body school in denver, co...and i always learn every video, then go to school and apply it during my little down time i get for the practice..... keep em coming bro..thanks!!!!!
Psssss...... you live in Denver. Quit auto body school immediately. Come here right now and train with me....It hails all the time in your state lol!!!
+Brian Wallis hey I’m in Indiana, we are currently covered in hail as well. If I lived I. Denver that’s all I would do. Set up a full time shop, and just work hail all year round.
Great repair! Not an easy dent at all. I've no problems using tolcut, I do think you was maybe a little heavy on the flatting though. I've done this myself and once the orange peel is gone it really stands out on the panel. Not hating, just my opinion. Great channel and great repairs!
Kovak makes that stuff... Pink, green black is normal stages they have a bufflex range also.. Pricey but quality.. They do the Eagle R1 palm sander.. Air tool.. All Japanese quality, 👌 what a machine..I have one ❤️❤️❤️
Holy cow, as a dent tech myself I am really liking your content, your thought process working through a repair most of us just do it and don't think about what we are doing, we just do it. So it is nice to kind of look over what is happening and what we would do in those circumstances. Man, you are doing some great stuff, much respect brother.
Thank you. As a 15+year tech myself, I’ve had to slow the fuck down and take a look at what I’m doing in order to explain it worth a shit 😂. It’s actually been quite the growing experience for me too!
Great job I’m trying to be a pdr im body men tech an I really want to learn how to a pdr an what tool do you recommend to star any info would be appreciated thanks
Hey Jim ! Great video buddy . And BTW its Chef Bobby this will be the name of my company in the near future with your help of course. Looking forward to your videos and training !
Hi Friend.. Ive been starting to watching your videos. So far i like your explanations about all of the pdr. I have also a quastion for you? Doest work for like these creases to use an induction heater to soften the metal that will shrink?
In certain situations it can but, always assume it won’t. That’s just a shortcut you can use AFTER you perfect these skills. Most of the time pushing skills are still necessary
Haha I’m pdr 101 and all the other “paid content” I don’t even worry about time. They will be as long as they need to be to cover the subject completely!! These though....... hahaha I don’t think anyone wants to through 20 minutes of me blabbing! So I try to keep it to the point.
@@RealWorldPDRTraining tha actual process physically takes a long time but tha understanding of method r ideology takes time is what is most important. i greatly appreciate you sharing some tricks of the trade, just madd food at one time for a fan of tha art to digest, all im saying...
Great instruction as usual Jim! I know this was a tricky one due to the access and then the texture but how long did you take to complete this repair & how long should a beginner expect to take to finish it? should he even try it?
I would really think this is more of an intermediate dent, and with the poor access, somewhere in the upper range of intermediate. I would say hold off on this type of repair, but I have been surprised by guys before! This took me almost 4 hours to complete. Bearing in mind I was filming it which eats up a lot of time and the shop always has people coming in and out for estimates and whatnot.... so maybe 2-3 normally? I’m slow though. I don’t rush repairs, and meticulous by choice.
You’re very welcome! Look out fornPDR 101 coming very soon! We are going to sprinkle some real world advances trajning in the mix too to keep things interesting at no extra charge!
Oh yes!!!! “BB gun” damage is a different animal. Sharp, is different than deep, which is different from big. All of which will be covered in the Pdr training series. In essence super sharp dents take the pressures exerted to a really extreme level. Using very sharp tips on that is also necessary, but at a different point during the repair.
Hey Jim, Andres Acuna here from Colorado. May I have your email for some business question and training information. Love your channel brother, best learning channel for PDR !
Sorry bro I see no difference between tolecut and normal color sand paper tolecut is just 10× more money but all and all love your work bro keep up the good videos 👍
Still don't understand how you removed really that dent ... You should have made an animation how what to do after the one you did of what you shouldn't
Lol there’s always that guy. One out of a thousand customers, one out of 50 jealous techs 😂😂. I got bad jokes. Yea, for me. I know that 99 percent of customers haven’t looked deep enough st their own cars to notice orange peel. Most of them I’d assume would rather a slicker spot then some small push marks. Either way this customer would’ve been satisfied, but I think this way looks better personally.
The name is changing to “Real world Pdr Training” and this is the reality. My two partners and I don’t intend to sugarcoat anything, just show what this career is about. jon simpson this feels like forever ago. Stoked we forged a friendship man!
nice save. i always use the tolcut block supplied......especially on a bodyline and finish with 3000 3m trizact......very easy to polish back up!
Very good tech. Very good step by step teaching . You are skilled. Not many techs could get that dent to that level.
Best pdr videos on RUclips. Appreciate the Knowledge. Been doing it 7mths...and never had it explain like that.

Hey Ryan, it’s not ideal, but if that’s your option, it’s sure as hell better than taping it up or anything

Hi Jim excellent tutorial I assume that if the brace wasn't in the way you would have still used a sharp tip tool to avoid oil can problem ?
You got it!!!

Does tolecut work on cars that are ceramic coated?
Oh yea, it’ll take the ceramic coat off in that area though. So if possible avoid it.
