What an excellent interview! Some real wisdom there about the dangers of ghettoization of thought and the need for humility as we all seek answers to the big questions. Kudos to Brian Cox and David Wilkinson for setting a high standard of thoughtful and positive dialogue.
I so much enjoy hearing Brian Cox. I must say his aside of world harmony, whilst he is fixed deliberately on the heavenlies. Enjoy talking about life and death matters as if afternoon tea is a right podium? So dear, and civilized, but so very far from possible. Christ has come, Christ has died, and Christ will come again ! Oh, don’t bother yourself declaring this “such bigotry!” Nonsense! Utter and irrevocable nonsense. The Creator, and Master is none other than the LORD, Himself, The vastness, the incomprehension, require a simple childlike faith to settle these beyond our grasp questions . He has said, “Come unto me, and I will show you great and mighty things, which thou knowest not!” Is there any wonder in the fact that most of greatest discoveries, and advancements for mankind come from Christian societies? Much prayer for this precious, wondering “child”, that as he peers in the great beyond, he will encounter Christ, Himself, in the personal privacy of his own thoughts. A place so small as to be infinitesimal compared to the broad universe, but still God’s most cherished possession..the human spirit, and soul.
I like this guy. He seems a decent man. He is interesting and humble or at least presents himself as such, but he is guilty of so much of what his counterparts are in their presentations of their disciplines. There are no infinite universes. There is no infinite anything in the material realm/material reality. Infinity is impossible in that it is not quantifiable and in order to exist, according to the very physics he would advise us to believe, all of materiality must be delineable, limited and quantifiable. Infinity is a concept often involved in the foundations of various claims of cosmology and particle physics. For example, that the universe could be infinite in scope. Well, it can’t. Consider…the universe is expanding and has been since it was the fraction of the size of an atom, that size which they have quantified. It is said to have expanded via inflation to the size of a grapefruit, another quantification. It then is said to have continued to expand but at a slower rate. So what is expansion? It is the progressive increase in value, number of measure by quantifiable increments. So what then was that last increase in measure of the scope of the universe just before the very next one was infinity? As you can see, infinity is an abstraction, not a value or number. Likewise, even IF there were other universes, which there are not (for later if anyone is interested), they cannot be infinite in number. How did they become so numerous? If we are talking about the multi-verse a la Alan Guth, then it is impossible for they are said to have popped into being via other big bangs in sequence after that of our universe or the “mother universe” from which they sprang. Just as in the increase in the size of the universe, these new universes could not ever be infinite in number for the same reasons. This also applies to every other theory of multiple universes I have studied. It bothers me that these men make such statements, using terms which also are employed to define the context of such propositions, making it very clear what they mean in their minds. This then exposes the contradictions in their theories which begs the question, “are they deliberately lying to us or are that that stupid that they don’t see it”? If in fact that DON’T mean what we all think the terms they use, mean, then that need to stop using them. It is generally with extreme hubris that such claims are made by those like Lawrence Krauss and R. Penrose, though his elite English accent and Dutch uncle manner does soften the effect of the arrogance of his position and our unenlightened belief in God. Perhaps none of them is as smart as we all thought they were.
@@nuntichaapsiram2560 i suppose that was directed at me. Funny, you seem to think i am wrong yet you are incapable of demonstrating how and why? Who is it then with the closed mind? You i think.
@@jamestagge3429 your description might be right. There's nothing to be infinite or unlimited but then here we are with limitation of our capability. Let's say there's universe was expanding, if we could make the whole uiverses was in scale of 100%, as much as we learn, we had only discover about 5% of it while it was expanding. So rather than say it was infinite, we can use the scale number of universe was (x) which can be any number than infinite. But i agree if some say that possibility has the scale of infinite since it was changing and growing time to time and (x) scale would be based on the progression value
@@DanielLennon100 Thanks for your response. I realize that we have a limited capacity, as your comment suggests, but even in that I think we can be safe in understanding that the universe cannot be infinite, especially if it got to its present size by expansion. IF we could measure it at any time, such as before the big bang when scientists claim to know that it was 10 -15m, that is quantifiable. From just that alone we know unequivocally that it could never become infinite. Infinity cannot be quantified. As I posted before, if we had infinite rocks and took away a trillion, trillion, trillion times a trillion, we would still have infinite rocks and could not have created that infinity by adding a given number of rocks over time. Brian Cox knows this better than most. Any physicist should and if they keep claiming idiocy like the universe is infinite, then they can only be deliberately lying to us to facilitate this pathetic atheist narrative they embrace with such ferocity. Keep in mind, it is they who have chosen the terms being used. It is they who have defined the context in which they “are” used. In the case of both, there is NO other conclusion to draw but that either they are being deceptive or they are not half as intelligent as we all have believed.
Theology is not a "response", it's an observation of what is. Jesus said, "I am". He is what is. You can only make a positive statement of what is. You cannot say what is not because it isn't. The position of atheism is no position at all. Agnosticism is not knowing of a position. The reality is that the only other position to take is an object credit giving position which is a false position to take. The true position to take is that you were made to exist by a preexisting written word that no physical thing can ever significantly sequence. That is what is observed. Any other position would have to be proved and there is no evidence of any other position because there is only one truth. Only your Maker can cover for you Himself and remake you again from the inside out by the power of His true word. No one else can.

Reminds me of Carl Sagan. Professor Cox is doing important cultural work. Wonder and curiosity are to be valued and nourished.
Love this dude
Deep down..brian being there is like a heavy metal rock fan attending a 'songs of praise 'recording...aghhhhh.....
Theology is knowing everything there is to know.
Theology is claiming to know and have the answers to everything but not really knowing anything..
theology is pretending to know everything. Otherwise known as being a complete and utter ignoramus.

So speculation is "cutting edge"...
