My brothers provided me the best example of first world problems in the history of the universe. We’re in the car on the way to my choir rehearsal, and I’m refusing to turn on the movie. They just barely survive all the way to my friend’s house (we carpool). It’s about ten minutes away from mine. And I tell them that they’re seriously dealing with some first world problems. They respond “what’s that?” And I start to explain, “well, you know how some people don’t have food or clean water?” And one of them says, “I don’t need that. I need a movie.” The epitome of first world problems.
My final stated 9 minutes ago and I can't find where they changed the room to. That was me this morning and its gotta be one of the few first world problems that'll shave years off your lifespan.

First world problems is a dumb concept. Yes, there are plenty of grand scale problems, but we can have our own little pointless problems so long as we don't act as though they are on the same level. No ones entire life is completely focused on everyone else and the absolute worst things that could happen.

Humm, I'm not sure what to make of this. While as an insider it did seem funny, to someone outside who is struggling, I can only see this making people more angry and hating us more. It kinda feels like this is shoving our "success" (albeit maybe (and probably) only temporary), if that's what you wanna call it, in their faces. If so, it seems highly immature and shallow, not to mention damaging. Maybe they should try exerting their energy in a more positive direction, idk like singing about their empathy towards world hunger. With all that's going on in the world today, this just seems in very bad taste...Or maybe it's just me, am I am missing something here...?

Maybe I am just not "in the know" about what this term is supposed to stand for, as I read in wikipedia.."The term is used to minimize complaints about trivial issues by shaming the complainer." But I have to say on first glance, this video and all those comments did not seem like it was shaming anyone, especially the complainer. It seemed more like it was laughing at others and a nasty inside joke for those lucky enough to "live it up" in a First World Nation. I sincerely hope all those who commented mockingly about their first world problems are of those "in the know", cause if not, I fear for our future and we have a bigger problem on our hands than I could have ever imagined...
