    Really good video. Your description of types of running gait was the first time I really understood what is meant by things like heal strike. Thanks Lucy!

    Just for people who do heal strike, it’s ok to do this, the Olympic athletes physios have said that it is rare to get damage from heal strike. I’ve been a heal striker and never had issues and been running since I was 11, I think would be more damage if I tried to change now

    I just read 'Breath' and I've started to try and implement nasal breathing in my running but it's so HARD!! Usually get 1k in and give up

    • @nataliakacmarova7211
      @nataliakacmarova7211 20 дней назад +1

      Not sure if mentioned (I did not notice if Lucy mentioned) but running trainings are not just about running technique, gadgets and same. You should implement zone 2 runs (those easy nasal slow runs), interval runs and tempo runs. You will build higher vo2 level over time and it will be easy for you to breath with nose even with faster pace and for longer distances. I am running for many years and I have noticed (I was thinking same when I started) that many people think running is just about to go and run and of course they will give up bc after year it will be same suffering as fist day.

      I’ve been nasal breathing since I read the book at the end of March. It’s so hard at first. I even raced 5km on Tuesday and did it all through my nose. Little by little. I need a sweat band on though to wipe my nose! Definitely get more snot

      @@vegankatemate4809 not sure which book are you referring to, however, do not worry if you implement all aspects for increasing VO2 it will gets easier over time

    Nice timing. As a 45 yr old bloke I'm looking to get back into running. Used to run 20 miles easy, did half Ironman and then injured my Achilles. Ever since then 15 years, been worried about running again. But I'm going to try. Good advice here. Definitely warming up the calves is big one! More so if u weigh 100kg like I do. Lots of repetitive strain.

    Awsome vid Luc, hitting the ground with the correct foot strike, SO important. Risk of "inviting" a whole load of bio mechanical problems like calf strains etc.
    Socks ? Spot on, don't scrimp.
    Another good tip on breathing
    In through the nose
    Out through the # ss
    Aids propulsion ! :) ☀️

    Great video wish I had this when I started to run. I been for almost a year and still struggle with proper glute activation whilst running which I think limit my performance.
    It would be amazing if you did touch on that in one of your videos, both best way to strengthen glute for running and activate it properly before and during run. Hope your hip heals soon and enjoy the summer

    I just purchased the MyProtein hydration vest recently, it was $82 USD but I used a creator discount code so it ended up being ~$60. Cheaper than most comparable products on the market (Salomon, Lululemon, Osprey, etc.) Unfortunately it looks like they're out of stock for the time being, though.

      Personally, I would keep your runs to about 4-5 miles at a time. If you want to get your mileage up, just go twice a day instead of one long run. That way you can keep well nourished and your body will less readily resort to burning muscle.
