@@marlanicole1601 You’re technically right. They whistle why they sit on the water but it’s not actually called a whistle. They’re just feeding calls. An actual wood duck whistle is the noise they make when they fly. Me being a duck hunter I just thought I’d point that out. If you don’t duck hunt it’s not important.

Ive had woodies drop in on 3 different occasions this year in small canadian goose spreads, no motions. Just bought a cheap woodie call and cant get the soft tone before breaking the reed
I have two duck Commander wood duck calls. One sounds perfect but one is very very raspy. It's actually too raspy. What do I need to do to get rid of the raspiness in my wood duck call
Not sure if wood duck sounds change by region but I live in Minnesota with a pond in my backyard and I just started putting out nest boxes this last season was my first year and was very successful. I had wood ducks in my pond all summer 24/7 the second call with multiple bursts is a female looking for a mate seen females frantically swimming alone in the pond making that noise multiple times. I am less familiar with the other sounds as I didn’t hear them but I think those are females getting chased by males. They make another sound shorter single when that happens. If you are trying to attract males to a pond id go with the second. But also im not a duck hunter. Feel free to check my results on a video I posted “to attract whitetail bucks first attract wood ducks” by B Matts they appear at 4min 19sec not a RUclipsr just posting for documentation
It’s simple. Also why would you want to know what a flying mallard sounds like? You’re not gonna do flying calls when none of your decoys are flying. That makes no sense.
I would get a call that does the tongue roll sound by itself. That’s what I use. And just blow a short burst of air with a “T” sound and you’ll be callin in bull sprigs all day long! Good luck man
😂 Bs I have literally went back and forth with a wood duck on the water making that sound. Watched it swim towards us then finally hop up fly in to the brush where we were hiding. The flying sound is drawn out longer sound.

It’s not good when they whistle that means they’re flying. They only whistle when they fly.
