Omg! You are so amazing. I absolutely love your idea to get gifts for a child your son's age. That is wonderful. So sorry for your loss.

May you find true healing. I recommend this book available on Amazon, "Lessons From a Place of Pain: An Account of God's Healing Power and Restoration after a Great Loss"

My feeling is that posting stories like this just scare the hell out of pregnant women - forget the ‘raising awareness’ cliche - beaten to death! You, as parents acknowledge your child ‘that’s really cool.’

Life fact: life is scary. So many things can go wrong, people you love can get cancer, babies can die in your womb, your parents can die in a freak car accident. Talking about the scary things that have happened to a person 1.) let's other know what to watch out for, 2.) let's those who have had scary things happen to them know they're not alone, 3.) is healing.
I've lost 4 children. Two of them could have been saved but I did not educate myself sufficiently and no one told me what to watch out for. Stories like this can save people's lives.
So yes, for women sharing their stories like this, it is raising awareness. It lets them know what their options are if something like this happens to them and lets them know they're not alone if it does happen.
