Old video, but just wanted to say I clicked on your guitar lessons on a whim one night and grabbed my partner's guitar. I've been playing guitar everyday for two years now, and it's made an immeasurable impact on my life. Just want to thank you for bringing so much joy to my life.
Its funny ive been playing guitar 10 years and every so often, I still get back to absolute basics. Sometimes when you plateau, going back to the easiest scales, will actually help alot. Never ever give up on the basics.
I'm so glad you've posted these because I've gotten about as good as I would with private lessons without paying a ridiculous amount of money. I'm about to go to college and will not be able to bring my guitar with me but I've finally achieved my wish of learning to play the guitar. I've been wanting to do this forever.
What would I do without this guy? This has thought me something that has bothered me. And that is the timing. The sync between the hands you mentioned. I've learned this scale in just a matter of minutes with quite good coordination with the synced hands because of your thourougness. You are excellent. By far the most valuable guitar teacher I've seen both personally and on the internet. Probably the best teacher over all... thanks Andy.
I subscribed i love the way you teach I got zero in my last test for guitar when I never knew how to play c major scale but I have learned it in half an hour and tommorow is my annual exam wish me good luck thanks for your help Andy your channel rocks
Absolutely incredible teacher / video. I've been playing guitar for only 3 days and I'm literally playing this scale with no issues thanks to your direction.
Thanks you my brother, love the way you teach. I just started playing guitar 3rd days ago and your teaching skills are awesome 👏 thanks again my friend. God bless you 🙏
Hallo Andy, it‘s so good to recapture your old lesson which reminds how important it is to repeat the guitar lesson. Thanks for the explanation, it‘s helping me to move forward although the lesson is 8 years old. Many thanks, Aslam.
You can play a C note on the low E string on 8th fret on the guitar and play a C major scale from there. It's how I got it from a G major scale. A lot of options
Omg your a life saver i needed to learn my c major scale and I had never practiced or did it once and I had to have it memorized by tomorrow and now I have it memorized that you so much and wish my luck oh and I subscribed and liked thank you again
Thank you!!! I’ve been looking for a video that explains this. Knowing the piano, I needed this to truly understand the guitar. This made things much clearer
Andy Thank you I was so frustrated 😠 😡. I got angry at myself cause I couldn't get it at first . After awhile and I repeated 3 times the video I got it. Especially the open cords . Your an awesome teacher.
i get why you would choose the c major scale but why not play it the standard way? there are many shapes to play the c major scale in but i believe as a starter this is confusing
He seems to go the approach where you use as few fingers as possible early on for as much as possible lol. Not just for this video, but I noticed that with a lot of his beginner material. Which isn't necessarily bad, it's just a difference in opinion I guess. By the way, the audio on the closeup mic is really, really bad. It sounds so aggravating with headphones lol
Wow loved this lesson, except I still haven't figured out how to play the last C note (appears Andy puts first finger on first fret on the B string)?? Doesn't sound right, anyone help plz? Also the B note (2nd last one) is B string open, correct? He finishes off a bit quick on these 2 but the rest were great, thanks :)
I have no problem playing scales on a piano, so that doesn't scare me one bit. Guitar scales are maddening because the notes are over the neck, However, I intend to master it.
I think it’s fascinating that guitar has a deeper meaning to it than just putting your fingers where they need to go! It’s amazing to learn
I’m sorry you didn’t win prime minister lol 🥺

I like the fact that Andy tells you precisely what fret and what string to play to know what note you playing on that scale step by step. Thanks Andy!

Thnx 4 making it so easy to understand
Thank You so much this helped so much😄
I think you should learn the piano basics before learning guitar. Makes theory easier to understand because of how the keys are laid out visually.
THANKYOU SO MUCH. VERY HELPFUL

If I'm left handed...? (Playing backwards?)
No:) you should ask someone to adjust your guitar for a left handed person. They'll change the strings' places for you

Probs late to the party here bit is andy calling the third string the fourth?
Where is the playlist to this??? Or does it have one?
Great sir
Tnq sir❤
This is the 1st position right?
You have the same guitar as me!
this video was helpful but I have a question about the D note, why is it open?
What is the problem with it? :D
Because the D note simply just the 4th string on your guitar at least I think that's why I'm fairly new too
Man you good,!thank you

Good teacher
Why do we just go octave to octave? When we begin to use this in songs, won't we go outside of the octave? Hope this makes sense.
In India it is as below
"SA RE GA MA PA DHA NI SA" same pronunciation as DO RE MI FA
Great advice ty
thanks a lot this helped

Thx
Helps alot

Cheers Andy! Mega helpful plus - Northern Accent FTW!
