For such a short trip and for the fact that you wasn’t filming as much in order to stay present as you mentioned, you really captured so much of the character of the city and how dynamic it is. It really came through how much you was enjoying the experience and there for I enjoyed the vlog more so than vlogs from people who actually live in the city on a full or part time basis. Can you go to Japan next please! I think I would really enjoy seeing that city from your perspective! X
Walking in New York is one of the most enjoyable things in life I think. As stimulating and overwhelming the city is, the key is to slow down and take in the moment as you did when you get to a destination to fully immerse yourself in the magic of the city. The hot sauce bit is hilarious. It’s like me staring at the dumplings aisle at H-Mart, a chain Korean grocer in the States. Haha. Hope you have a nice Christmas back home!
New York has a very unique energy. The first time I went for a proper visit, I went with my Mom. We’re both introverts and don’t love crowds. We went to a tiny but fantastically charming restaurant and it was just two rows of tables all lined up together so you were sat directly next to other parties. At first we looked at one another like … eh, I dunno about this. We’re Canadian so we are used to loads and loads of personal space 😆. We decided we were too hungry and tired from miles and miles of walking to look for another place. Before our orders arrived, the lady sitting next to my mother turned her head, smiled at her and said, “Excuse the interruption, but I love your bracelet. It’s so unique!” They had a quick exchange and then without any awkwardness the lady turned back to her dining partner and they carried on as if we didn’t exist at all. That was the moment when the penny dropped. We realized that with so many people around you at all times, and mostly people you likely won’t ever see again, you just get on with it. You behave as though you’re the only ones in the room or the space you’re occupying. No one cares that much about what you’re doing or saying so ….. carry on! I must say as well that the vast majority of people we encountered were polite and warm while also respecting this sort of unwritten social contract that you don’t hold people up, everyone has somewhere to be so keep it polite, keep it short, and everyone can carry on. After that, we felt like we had loads of space around us and the people were just a part of the backdrop around us. We fell in love with the city and I’ve been back as often as I can manage (it’s a quick commuter flight for me). Also, I was stunned with how small some landmarks seemed in real life. They’re all cheek by jowl against one another and somehow it makes the city feel approachable for all it’s enormity. Seeing the Guggenheim for the first time, for instance, took me unawares. I’d only seen it in photographs which are always cropped in such a way as to make it seem as though it stands alone in a square or some such. I literally walked right past it and my Mom had to call out to get my attention hahah. It’s just there, all casual like, on the corner beside those glorious old apartment buildings. Was not expecting that at all. The tree at Rockefeller square was another one of those. I mean it’s HUGE but nestled in between those massive buildings, it seemed kinda normal sized lol. I hope they had the shops across the way all done up when you were there. It’s dazzling. I felt like you did a bit of a Meg Ryan tour of the sites and I loved it! When Harry Met Sally and You’ve Got Mail all in one video 😊. I’ve done most of the You’ve Got Mail tour. Was so fun. We ate at the cafe where he finds out that she’s his mysterious online correspondent. I’m glad you took the time to take it all in instead of focusing on getting footage. You’re a talented photographer so I enjoyed the quiet montages of the cityscape.
i don't even know how to word this properly but this video was truly so magical. i always think you manage to make your vlogs (and other videos) so lovely and like. soothing in a way? i've never been to new york but i really liked watching you explore it in your way. i hope you had a great time :)
This was so stunning to watch! It brought comfort and inspiration on a rainy day. Outfits were 197374/10. Beanies, noted! Not only am I inspired to go to New York but to explore my own city. Thank you, watch a gift.
So glad that you filmed bits while you were there! It's always lovely to see how you capture the beauty and spirit of wherever you are. I felt the same way about New York in terms of its overstimulation, and the sheer amount of tourists. I was worried as well that I'd be too anxious, however, I felt the complete opposite while I was there. I found New York gave me such a sense of calm, and I do think that is due to the city's almost organized chaos, as well as pockets of charm. As a fellow 25-30k steps a dayer, I think walking really helps mellow the anxiety; you're constantly in a state of wandering and I think that by being in a state of calm and being on your own terms, it sets the tone for your trip. I'm so glad that you loved the City, it really has a way of charming people. :)
Thanks a lots, Brittany! This video is so motivational, aesthetic. I have a dream to visit New York one day. It’s a pleasure to watching the city by your eyes❤❤❤
Have you ever watched John Wilson's series? A lot of it takes place in NYC. A famous episode is one about scaffolding. You might find it odd, charming, and a bit eye opening for your return visit.
As a born and raised New Yorker, this vlog made me so happy. And that you weren't sure how you'd feel about NYC before you visited, but had your mind changed once you were here, is a testament to this beautiful, energetic, alive city I am proud to call home. Thank you!
Lovely vlog Brittany which brought back so many fond memories. Myself and dear friends went to the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting on our first night in New York. It was so cold and we couldn’t get close but the atmosphere on the street was amazing.
Beautiful! Thank you for taking us with you. I watched it three times just to catch every single bit. For me it was one of your most beautiful vlogs and even NY seemed calm and relaxing with you. As if you were grounding the city. I didn't hear a single siren :). May I ask which boots you are wearing in the first minutes? The ones with the silver toe? Thank you!
Loved it - it was quite similar to my trip so it was very nice to kinda go back to memories shot as usual in your delicate manner. Also didn't know you and Klaudia were friends.
Lovely vlog. NYC is one of the best places for an introvert (Im a fellow introvert and live here). There is a lot of anonymity because it is so densely populated. Hoping you took some hot sauce back home. If not, I recommend Heatonist in Williamsburg for your next trip.
Loved the vlog! It had the perfect NYC vibes for me - really hope to visit the city for the 1st time in 2023… and fun I could understand a bit of the conversation in Rythm Zero because they were talking in Dutch 😂
I knew you would do NYC well with your beautiful vlogging and editing style!! Thank you once again for a visually stunning video. Come back with Dean! Also next time get the pastrami at Katz. 😂
New York, my favorite place to be. I am addicted and your vlog was so inspiring...need to go there again soon since COVID made me stay at home for the past two years...thanks for sharing your days there.
Iv been so excited to see this vlog! Most beautiful filming of New York, well done Brittany 😊 Also if anyone know where the grey jumper Brittany wears in the cut back in the UK I’d love to know!
I'd suggest the pastrami on rye at Katz if you return. It's a bit heavy but very good if you enjoy pastrami. Also I love the noguchi museum! My favorite in ny
This was so lovely! What is the song that’s playing near the end when you’re at the Noguchi museum? It’s really nice and calming, hoping to figure out the band ♥️
I’m not very good with travel so may never make it to New York - I enjoyed seeing it through your lens though, thanks for taking us along with you for the journey! 🙂
I'm a New Yorker (I live in Brooklyn, close by to where you were staying 🤗) and loved this vlog! I'm so glad you explored Brooklyn as well as Queens, and captured everything so beautifully. Come back next year - and honestly I think Autumn (October) is the best time of year here!!!
dear Brittany , may i ask you which nailpolish you wore in this video e.g. in minute 15:03 or 16:25? Loved the vlog an the impressions of new york. so beautiful
I really want to go to New York, it's something I just know I will love but it's always seemed so out of reach for someone like me, not enough money, no work opportunities there, no friends/contacts etc. I'm going to make it happen someday, in the meantime thanks for the trip
All I kept thinking when you left to get napkins after taking a bite of your hotdog was. . . We'll protect your hotdog 🌭 for our Brittany. Don't you worry about thing girl. 😏
Hi. How are you? I hope you are well. can I suggest for you to make another video titled WHAT WOULD I WEAR. It’s been so cold recently and all I seem to wear is sweatshirt , jeans and a big coat. I would like to get some more ideas , am going through a very stagnant time with fashion
i'm unsure about anyone else but the Vlog was quite quiet for some reason. I didn't expect a NY vlog so it was lovely to see! was wondering if you are still planning on going to Oz?
US grocery stores are garbage though. I'm a native New Yorker but work in London. London has way better selection at grocery stories, markets, butchers etc. The quality is much better in London and you have much better pre cooked meal options.
I love your vlogs, they are one of my absolute favourites! But I would really like to hear some reflecting on flying out of a substainable and enviromental perspective since I know you were in New York for not so long ago.

Did you explain who Claudia is and why you were there with her? Beautiful vlog. It's on my bucket list to celebrate Christmas in New York.

Such a beautiful blog, I’ve never seen New York from such a lovely perspective before.
Love that you left some clips with raw audio! It gives clear image of the atmosphere;)
New Yorkers open the window a lot in the winter because lots of apartments don't have adjustable heat!

I love how your friend is filming herself instead of that gorgeous sunset, lol!

I’m going to NY in a few months - now more excited than ever! Anything o can’t miss?
As a Newyorker, it's strange watching this vlog. Hope your friends and you had a nice time in Big Apple :)
You found the perfect neutral nail color! Mind sharing what it’s called?

Wait, is this the Klaudia Estee was big friends with?
You have captured New York perfectly
i think you got there the day after i left. i love new york in the late fall - the absolute best time to visit.
The light is beautiful! So different to the dull grey skies we have here in the UK
love the silver hoops from the outfit with the black hat! where are they from?
I’m so happy my city treated you so kindly

Hi so random but could you do a hobonici how you use it video or a segment?
Turkey at Katz's.... Not what they're known for ... Pastrami on rye and mustard is the ticket.
may I ask where the black leather jacket is from?
Hi. How are you? I hope you are well.
can I suggest for you to make another video titled WHAT WOULD I WEAR. It’s been so cold recently and all I seem to wear is sweatshirt , jeans and a big coat. I would like to get some more ideas , am going through a very stagnant time with fashion
A wonderful vlog! Just wondering what camera you use to film? Or is it your iPhone...
Thank you 🤍 Most of this was on my iPhone 13
