    Hi Dave, I'm 62 and just brought my first bivvy the same one as your review, don't know how old it is but paid £25:00 for it. I'm a match fisherman turning "Carpy" it's well good keeps me dry when it rains and warm when it's windy. Great honest review. Thanks for posting.

    I'm watching some old geezer putting up a tent, I must be sad. It's actually interesting!

    Great Video, I have the same Bivvy and still use it to this day. Had it well over 10yrs and its a bit battered now but still works as intended. I’ve never water proofed it and it never leaks so maybe I just got lucky

    Great review David. JRC do some good stuff. I bought a JRC Contact 2-man bivvy about 12 or so years ago, then spotted a JRC Contact 1-man bivvy on DoneDeal for not much money (40 or 50 quid) not long after, so I now still have both. Great bits of kit and only about 5 minutes to erect either of them. Nowadays I only use them as day shelters when fishing to keep my gear and myself dry because in my advancing years I've embraced the comforts of an hotel's indoor plumbing and a, fresh, ready cooked buffet breakfast when on an overnight fishing trip. However, if the hotel or B&B weren't easily available, then either of the bivvies would still be a great alternative even after all these years. Great kit.

      I must admit a B&B is a great idea for the fishing trips too nothing quite like a hot shower and meal cooked by someone else to warm you up after a day on the water.

    Are the JRC sti and defender models the same size? As I need a new wrap for mine.

      Honestly amego I don't know you'd need to ask JRC customer service for that info

    Hi Dave
    Great review bud, concise, accurate and to the point, JVC as I says on the tin, good quality and a good price, it can take and still keep you safe.
    Take care, stay safe and keep it lit 👍 my friend.

    Hi Dave, enjoyed your review on the bivvy and had a chuckle at same time. Being tall myself I went for a Fox eos 1man and would recommend it for yourself if you ever looking for another shelter, its a good bit taller. Chears again for the video 👍👍

      I have a JRC xxl Quad bivvy it's big enough for me to stand up in I don't intend to buy another bivvy unless this one dissappears amego.

    Nice review Scobie! I'm on the market for a new winter bivvy with a bit more room - you made some great points to consider that I hadn't even thought about. Where did you get snowed in - Loch Alvie? Ive had many happy times in the Gorms.

    • @DavidScobie
      @DavidScobie  3 года назад +1

      I got snowed in a few different occasions in Scotland I did a bivvy session on Loch Garry in the forest stretch beside the road and got woke up to a bang the place was white and some crazy guy drove off the road into the ditch and rolled his motor, now that was a weird occasion having to make a shook up motorist a mug of coffee in the middle of a blizzard then let him use my mobile to phone his woman to say he's "kinda wrote off the motor" his words.

    The jrc brolly is the best bit of kit ever

    • @DavidScobie
      @DavidScobie  3 года назад

      Agreed I've the 2 rib STI brolly its took a kicking over the years and still keeps going.

  • @BarmyTwubble

    Still use my sti 10,000 brolly with wrap, been with me all over europe , day sessions to a month at a time over many many years. Not sure why its called sti brolly as its a bivvy and not a brolly? But it is, maybe cos how light and long it is when packed away. 3 rib , 5 minutes to put up, loads room, great 10,000 wrap, light as anything , packs away fast, the case is very long and thin so can actually go in a rod bag if you wanted. If you can find the jrc sti brolly with 10,000 head and wrap, id really recomemd that you get it. Currently cant find them anywhere so im looking at this perhaps for my son as hes old enough now to want a bivvy, baitrunners that match etc, and dont my wallet know it lol

      The bivvy I use for most sessions these days purely because my back is smashed is the JRC xxl Quad bivvy i am going to be doing a review of it in due course, it's not as old as the JRC STI one but equally a good bivvy

    • @roderne4271
      @roderne4271 3 года назад +1

      Yes I find in and out of the door and just sitting up crouched over coz my head was hitting the top was the problem whit my back that is why I got the fox series r xl ther big but I love the room

    • @DavidScobie
      @DavidScobie  3 года назад +1

      I'm at a point where I need headroom amego simply not to annoy a back injury that already makes my life awkward at the best of times.

      They were state of the art in bivvy technology way back in early 2000s.
      I wonder would any of the modern counterparts last the same time.
