My cat lays her ears back if I approach and she doesn't want to get petted. I ignore her and a minute later, she demands petting. That's cats for you: it's on their terms.

one of my friends had a bird that answers affirmatively with "f*** off/you" anytime he hears "step up" this is especially funny when we're watching a movie or show where someone's saying "STEP UP" to start a fight, and Brad just goes "f*** you!" from somewhere in the background 😂💜
@@esppupsnkits4560 all their animals have people names. Brad is some sort of parrot and he's a total bro, they have a "pulled out of a Disney cartoon" Doberman named Millie, a Yorkie/Scottie mix that looks like an old man and is named Frank, and a cat that they officially named Trevor, but usually (rightfully) call Richard. i had the privilege of getting to drop off Frank at the vet once, and there was a new girl there who just went "oh, yeah, i would say that's definitely Frank." 😂
So, on the petting thing... When I was a kid we had a cockatiel who was fine with being held but would draw blood if you got close to touching anything but his feet. My 9y/o self decided to wrap him in a towel (chicken burrito!) and pet the top of his head... and he LOVED IT. If his cage was open and I got a towel he would immediately fly to me. After taking him out of the towel he'd request head scratches by trying to touch the top of his head to you fingers. But by the next day he'd be back to biting unless he got towel time first. Weird bird.
Well, weighted blankets are used for both humans and dogs to calm anxiety (friend has a dog with severe separation anxiety from abuse, she is much calmer with her blankets and a giant bean bag), so the weight of the towel probably calms the bird down alot.
