I thinking listening to Parkway Drive and Killswitch for the past 8 years has kind of ruined my appetite for new metal. A lot of these new bands seem to have a generic sound, regardless of how hard I look for nuances with their music. It's funny listening to this video because there are 3 bands that really stand out to me: Parkway Drive, August Burns Red, and Breakdown of Sanity. Just about every other band feels generic. I wouldn't complain if it came up on someones playlist, but I wouldn't go out of my way to look for their music.
I think most new metalcore/deathcore bands copy off each other. Parkway Drive, Killswitich Engage and A Day To Remember kinda perfected the generic sound we hear today.
Couldn't agree more with you... Although, Slipknot for me has a unique sound whilst also being heavy. Killswitch, Parkway and Slipknot are my main bands of choice on my iPod. Just my opinion though...
Your breakdown list reigns supreme! But Smoke em If You Got Em by Parkway Drive is a notable absence! inclusion of Breakdown on Sanity makes up for it!
now i agree these are all choice breakdowns and you have swell taste, but you defintly should expand your genre horizons, theres some ridiculously tasty breakdowns in something other than this general metalcore technical grouping you got here. That being said this is a great compilation.
I can see that you are a great fan of BoS! :D just like me hahaha i would put in exactly the same songs and breaks ;p thnx for the video man. it was impressive!
@EscapeTheFruitcake Sir those choice words describe my exac feelings towards that band. I personally thnk they have the most talent of any metalcore band to this day and i will freak out when the new cd drops
It’s a shame that For Today ended up separating. They had such good breakdowns and overall sound. Plus they would have been another huge band from Iowa (not many famous bands from Iowa besides Slipknot)
For Boneyards, you should've used the 'There's blooooooooood in the waaaaater!!!!' part :D nice video, i reckon you should listen to Northlane, they're an Aussie metalcore band with wicked breakdowns
Rolly One of the most generic breakdowns I've heard, no offence. No melodic guitars, nothing to make it stand out from other breakdowns. This is just my opinion though.
Yea I guess the lead up to it is more climactic. And I know that what you hear before something can greatly change your enjoyment of that something. Like when songs have intros, or when the a song flows into the next.
You guys should check out Texas in July, especially their two most recent albums, each with a different singer but they're both fucking shit hot albums, breakdowns galore in each.
Jarryd Margot Hehe, AA is just not my cup of tea. Hm, I would probably say "The Ghost Inside", "Make them suffer" and "Born of Osiris" Those are few of my favorites. Hope you like their stuff.
***** The Ghost Inside = Incredible, got most of their albums. Haven't heard Make Them Suffer, will check em out. Which is your best album from Born of Osiris, I have listened to them but not much. Stoked Blind Witness is working on some new material!
Jarryd Margot Born of Osiris' last album "Tomorrow We Die Alive" is amazing IMO. It has such a unique sound, definately worth listening to. The first song, Machine, has the most epic intro I've heard in so long lol.
great song...no doubt about that. Back Burner was the song that got me into metal though, so I am extremely biased. Not to mention, I've never seen any crowd go harder than we did during the last breakdown of back burner. It was fucking wild haha
Chad Flamm In Lost from The Gateway EP there was the Darth Vader breathing sound before the breakdown and right before Seclusion starts on the same album there's the audio from Gandalf talking to Peregrin at Minas Tirith.
ignore the hater, how the fuck could you post a video that everyones gonna agree with, i loved every single breakdown in this vid! keep up the good wooork
Love listening to these breakdowns compilations. Most of them introduces you to bands you never knew about
My point exactly
Parkway, fuck yea.
Parkwaydrive has been my favorite band and it still is. My favorites song is a deathless song.
Toxicity74 bra parkway drive is my shit I've seen them live
I saw them live on two separate occasions, they are fucking awesome.
August Burns Red and Parkway Drive kill it. Probably the best on the list

tombstonetomatoe 99 then you should listen to the Song "The Writer"
As soon as I saw For Today, I knew this was gonna be a kick ass video
I love you for having rationalist up here, one of my favorite abr breakdowns. Also loving all the rest!
This is easily the best video i've ever seen for Breakdowns all combined. Soooooo heavy! And great choice of breakdowns! \m/

Holy shit! I'm late but this is the first and only video that has ever had Confession as a breakdown!! Props dude!
Its all about Breakdown of Sanity!!! Update this, they have 2 other badass albums out. Good work my friend.

SuperItalia494 I grew up with Slipknot bro, I shoudl've mentioned them
How could you forget??? lol
Your breakdown list reigns supreme! But Smoke em If You Got Em by Parkway Drive is a notable absence! inclusion of Breakdown on Sanity makes up for it!
The breakdown came. So did I B)
This is probably one of the best compilations of breakdowns on the internet.
You have an excellent taste of good breakdowns my friend!
My favorite breakdown is the one in Laid to Rest by Lamb of God. I think that could have been 22 on the list =p I needed this list though. Thanks bro.

For Today has so many intensive breakdowns ! Portraits era was just awesome

Parkway Yea Buddy!
glad to see people actually promote for today
now i agree these are all choice breakdowns and you have swell taste, but you defintly should expand your genre horizons, theres some ridiculously tasty breakdowns in something other than this general metalcore technical grouping you got here. That being said this is a great compilation.
10:19 takes the cake, though I would've loved to hear PWD's Boneyards' end breakdown too
For Today is awesome!
Finally some songs that I know and I would also choose ;)
Fuck yes I love these 2009-2012 top deathcore/metalcore breakdown videos
This is eargasmic.
This is the type of shit I'm looking for!!! All of this is legit!
I can see that you are a great fan of BoS! :D just like me hahaha i would put in exactly the same songs and breaks ;p thnx for the video man. it was impressive!
i wish that you put High Rise in here since you put two other I, The Breather songs... the opening breakdown is awesome
Breakdown Of Sanity. Oh my god yes!
first video that i saw appreciate the genius that is August Burns Red-Blinding Light
the last one is easily the most brutal. Breakdown of Sanity kicks so much ass.
@EscapeTheFruitcake Sir those choice words describe my exac feelings towards that band. I personally thnk they have the most talent of any metalcore band to this day and i will freak out when the new cd drops
you ended right before the greatest part of "when silence breaks"!!!!!!!! D:
dude after watching this video, ive checked out a fuckload of new bands haha sick video man
BoS are the kings of breakdowns!
It’s a shame that For Today ended up separating. They had such good breakdowns and overall sound. Plus they would have been another huge band from Iowa (not many famous bands from Iowa besides Slipknot)
Breakdown of sanity is pretty bomb
I’m so glad I seen in the midst of lions on here underrated band IMO
The names for these top videos are starting to become more and more clever.
The breakdown of Signs (by Awaken The Dreamer) is sick too !
Breakdown of Sanity crushes them all, even thought I love most of these bands.
They prove themselves worthy of their band name.
For Boneyards, you should've used the 'There's blooooooooood in the waaaaater!!!!' part :D nice video, i reckon you should listen to Northlane, they're an Aussie metalcore band with wicked breakdowns
yeah, you're right, it is. I was just thinking vocally
Breakdown of sanity are king!
Parkway Drive, August Burns Red and As Blood Runs Black are fucking classics
ITMOLs guitar squeals are amazing :D
Welcome (Intro) by Breakdown of Sanity, from The Last Sunset.
I'd add O.G Loko's breakdown by Of Mice & Men :D
No
TheAPANDASSASSIN why :c
Rolly One of the most generic breakdowns I've heard, no offence. No melodic guitars, nothing to make it stand out from other breakdowns. This is just my opinion though.
I actually like it for its simplicity :D i don't know btw, maybe it's because i'm kinda new to the genre haha
Marc Dunn Can you do better? I highly doubt it.
something tells me you like Breakdown of Sanity. I like you.
Muito top!
rationalist by ABR sooo good!
Yea I guess the lead up to it is more climactic.
And I know that what you hear before something can greatly change your enjoyment of that something.
Like when songs have intros, or when the a song flows into the next.
that intro is \O.O/
100,000th view. Doing some heavy squats!!! Sick mix.
FlippedSociety fuck yeah!
Yeah dude, I cried when I saw that. You really got under my skin, under there deep.

The Ghost Inside 👌

You guys should check out Texas in July, especially their two most recent albums, each with a different singer but they're both fucking shit hot albums, breakdowns galore in each.
In the Midst of Lions as well
The title cracked me up.
dream theaters - honor thy father has a pretty damn good breakdown.
Whatever man. Beyonce had the greatest breakdown of all time!
At least SOMEONE knows what quality music is.
***** surely you know I was joking. I just felt like pulling a Kanye.
***** don't feel bad lol I'm an odd one I really am. Few people actually get my humor. Most just laugh so I don't feel stupid for opening my mouth.
I think you mean Britney xD
She may have the greatest thighs ever...other than that Beyonce can eat sh*t!😊
Northlane??
Obey The Brave??
Whitechapel??
A Day To Remember??
Asking Alexandria??
Blind Witness??
Why did you have to include AA in there, you almost had my upvote
Haha come on, they're pretty decent. Any other suggestions, I'm always open to new material (legit question)! :)
Jarryd Margot
Hehe, AA is just not my cup of tea. Hm, I would probably say "The Ghost Inside", "Make them suffer" and "Born of Osiris" Those are few of my favorites. Hope you like their stuff.

That's what I'm thinking right now
In the midst of lions. Herods demise.
In the midst of lions and for today 👌💎💎💎💎💎
great song...no doubt about that. Back Burner was the song that got me into metal though, so I am extremely biased. Not to mention, I've never seen any crowd go harder than we did during the last breakdown of back burner. It was fucking wild haha
But this is an amazing vid a lot of my fav bands like elitist, abr, and the new crimson armada

Massive ones hahaha. Not to mention they used to do Star Wars and Lord Of The Rings samples.
+P3 Gaming what do you mean by samples
Chad Flamm
In Lost from The Gateway EP there was the Darth Vader breathing sound before the breakdown and right before Seclusion starts on the same album there's the audio from Gandalf talking to Peregrin at Minas Tirith.
the ending of leviathan I by parkway drive is another one of their most brutal breakdowns
Fuck yes for Breakdown of Sanity!!! I think the fast breakdown at the end of Infest is the best...hehe that rhymed...
