Arny is just a legend among gentlemen. The globe will stop rotating for a moment when he finally departs. No one will ever replace such a unique human being. But till then, get to the chopper!
im so envious of these days, the 80s seemed amazing, especially walking around with a crazy physique in the times before everyone was a bodybuilder, just pure vibes, no social media, just good music and people
I can speak for the 90s, AMAZING. People were cool, werent crazy and social media obsessed at eachothers throats, no cell phones but still some tech and good gaming, PEAK. 2020s by far the worst decade.
@footballfan2804-i8i Yeah i feel bad for you guys, no gas lighting, the news wasnt peddling hate. On the bright side you might live long enough to where they figure out how to slow aging and maybe things will get better when the ai overlords clean house.
When I was first starting to lift in the 70s and wanted to see a variety of exercises and how to do them, Arnold’s book “Education of A Body Builder “ had all the answers.
The biggest thing I notice between then and now is that these days nobody and almost nobody does Pull Ups man. Arnold, Mike, Lee Haney they all were pretty big guys too. All in the 200-220 weight range but still they did regular bodyweight pull ups before touching a Barbell on Back Day. Hence the beautiful V Taper along with the thickness. Nowadays it's just about who can be heavier and bigger. Bodybuilders these days are not a pleasant sight to see.
I cannot believe the way they're doing the seated cable rows. If I did it like they did and swung my upper body back and forth that much like they did, my back would be paralyzed. Everything they do, I can just feel the pain in my lower back as I watch it. I just can't believe how Arnold didn't sustain any permanent back injury with that kind of motion. I guess those guys were just built different.
...no, they didn't get injured precisely because they did the movement with a proper full range of motion. You guys just do partials then wonder why you're injured all the time
@superservices4818That may be so, but you still have to have a pretty healthy and strong lower back to move like that and not get injured. And I don't have that.
I was one of the 4,000 people who attended the 1974 Mr. Olympia in New York City. Arnold competed against Lou Ferrigno, Franco Columbu, Frank Zane. He was at his all-time best at that contest. To say that Arnold destroyed the competition is an understatement. When he hit a pose, his muscles exploded. He had the finish to his muscles that no one else had. Size, shape, definition, finish. It wasn’t even close. My jaw dropped more than a few times. My friends and I were flabbergasted. That’s how good he was.
wow... you’re incredibly lucky to have witnessed that live. being one of the 4,000 people at the 1974 mr. olympia in new york, seeing arnold at his absolute peak against lou ferrigno, franco columbu, and frank zane… that event is already written in history books as one of the greatest bodybuilding shows of all time.
@HulktubeMotivation Thanks very much! Yes, it was a wonderful evening. As Arnold was posing, I recall saying, "Arnold looks like he's from outer space!" That's how different he looked, compared to the competition. It was . 😉 Great video! Keep up the terrific work!
In every exercise shown in this video he has an insane range of motion. Combining that with high reps and crazy intensity is wild - no wonder he built such an impressive physique
@forasagothe point is, genius, if you are natural, you won't be able to execute the same amount of exercises he did without seriious injuries and lack of results due to overtraining. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve credit for what he accomplished. It's just a warning for those who think the kind of training he did would fit to anyone. Without the deugs, your body wouldn't support that.
@adamkaminskiit's always the people with the shit builds who want to include steroids....steroids don't replace hard work and commitment.....stay weak homie
He's still extremely passionate about how he lifted, that's awsome.. plus he enjoyed helping other bodybuilders with their workouts.. but in a way, it was sneakey because some would say that's a hell of a tactic..."keep your friends close, but your enemies closer" he knew how they lifted, but still wanted to out lift them, so he knew he was always bigger!!
I still study him...just learned something with this video...😊..I read his book decades ago he was talking to his mucels....I did 🎉 Dankeschön Herr Schwarzenegger 🙏
Remember b at junior school been a kid not many ppl trained like these days me dad used pick me up ripped and jacked all me m8s at school were like god look size ur dsd was not many ppl about then oviousky in gym there was that got me it to it thro my dad competing took me gym at 12 lifting my 7 pound dumbells 😂
My favorite back workout: 1-chin-ups 2-one arm dumbbell rows 3-bent over dumbbell rows 4-dumbbell deadlift Do 3 sets of 6 reps, Rest 30 seconds between sets
A lot of people argue about Arnold’s training method as opposed to Mike Mitzner but you look at both of them and there is no doubt you can argue with either of them that they are living proof that each of their methods works. It is about what works for you and what you want to achieve
Arnold’s only works because of steroids not knocking him down but a natural lifter cant push themselves as hard with overtraining Vs mike mentzer was geared more towards natural lifters who no where near the recovery speed or muscle building power of anabolic steroids
@luchiani1171 this is not true Arnold‘s work for him and it could work for natural lifters too just all depending upon what your goals are. That’s what I said both can work. It just depends on what goals you’re trying to achieve and with the individual body make up is some people are naturally lean and naturally shredded so they’ll have an easier time staying shredded then gaining weight versus some other others. Have a much easier time putting on Waite building mass but have a much harder time shredding cutting down or getting defined so with those two individuals and all depends on what they’re trying to achieve. They can employ one of these methods and they can work for them even naturally.
@dominicksans7204doubt it, dont think most people could dead lift, squat and bench 200lbs+ for 5-6days in row without a rest day, i could see people working out 5-6 days weeks 2hours a day with light weights and cardio but no way with heavy loads like arnold was doin or telling people to do
They didn't have stupid smart phones 🤳🏼 they had pure foods, no fast food take away restaurants, they had plenty of sunshine something we don't get at all in the uk these days, only the fake sprayed clouds 😢 they had the best years of being amazing humans
I love the "pushing your genetics to their absolute limit" , instead of "testing humans limit to performance enhancing drugs". Because the first phrase kinda half implies to natty people, not saying genetics dont matter to people on drugs, ofcourse genetics matter too, but phrasing it like that...
Yeah, standing on a bench and repping three plates a side like that… that’s no joke. Pure old-school strength, balance, and confidence. Only a real beast pulls that off. 💪🔥
noteworthy that he was a powerlifter before he ever started high rep or high volume training in general. he could lift astounding weight because he built astounding strength first.
1974 Arnold Schwarzenegger was the greatest of all time. Today's bodybuilders have overdeveloped hamstrings glutes and deltoids. Out of proportion, and synthol galore, along with massive bubble guts.
Overtraining probably for definition, but not for muscle growth. It reaches a certain point where there is no more stimulation to be made, and that does not actually need 35 set to happen
I always struggle with my back workouts. I can get the width, but the thickness is the weak point. Been told I fly through my back workouts and need to slow it down. Arnold has the size and strength to really show off back along with Ronnie and Jay.
that’s exactly it. if you already have the width, slowing down is the key to building thickness. control the weight, pause and squeeze every rep. focus more on heavy rows... barbell rows, t bar rows, seated cable rows, chest supported rows, and one arm dumbbell rows. rack pulls and deadlifts also add serious mid back density. Try this Joshua 💪💯
For real…. try seated rows slow. Pull the weight slowly and also release it slowly. Most people don’t control the pull. Guaranteed, you’ll see results. 💪
I am not a bodybuilder. So why do I watch? Passion. Passion that can make you reflect and applies to everything.
He listened to his body
The way Arnold explain the movements makes you wanna lift the whole gym at this moment.💪🏿🏋🏿💯
best motivation ever 💪💯
Yes
💪🏽😂
Bit of gear helps
Bit of gear does help…his form or training in general certainly didn’t.
I just wanted to be the Best , Arnold Schwarzenegger , !!! Ever !!! he will be remembered for 1000 years ,,,
Arny is just a legend among gentlemen. The globe will stop rotating for a moment when he finally departs. No one will ever replace such a unique human being. But till then, get to the chopper!

@Phyzm1 yeah man, im 17 and feel i was born in the wrong generation, you are so lucky to have experienced it, appreciate the insight
@footballfan2804-i8i Yeah i feel bad for you guys, no gas lighting, the news wasnt peddling hate. On the bright side you might live long enough to where they figure out how to slow aging and maybe things will get better when the ai overlords clean house.
80s, 90s, early 2000s was peak humanity..
Arnold=Perfección
Dude was a beast
Great respect to the old school
When I was first starting to lift in the 70s and wanted to see a variety of exercises and how to do them, Arnold’s book “Education of A Body Builder “ had all the answers.
"the phone" we are going to San Fransico . . . "that would be a very good crank call Craig"
So much respect for his body building and all he went through. Such discipline.
The biggest thing I notice between then and now is that these days nobody and almost nobody does Pull Ups man. Arnold, Mike, Lee Haney they all were pretty big guys too. Rarely see anyone doing dips either.
Pumping Iron

@superservices4818That may be so, but you still have to have a pretty healthy and strong lower back to move like that and not get injured. And I don't have that.
Watching those barbell rows hurt my back. But these guys had so much muscle to stabilize the back already.
9:30 - 9:50 the way you weaved those 2 posing sequences together...Epic !
I was one of the 4,000 people who attended the 1974 Mr. Olympia in New York City.

Very lucky👍🇬🇷
So lucky you could be there to see that. Amazing. Thank you for sharing. Oh I wish they had filmed it.
@LennyLewis
Thanks, Lenny.
Arnie will always stay the best, period !
💯 facts
In every exercise shown in this video he has an insane range of motion. Combining that with high reps and crazy intensity is wild - no wonder he built such an impressive physique
Yeah, sure... Don't forget the massive quantity of steroids...
@adamkaminski - totally see your point - just feels fair to give credit where the hard work is due 💪🏻
@adamkaminski meaningless because all his competitors took the same stuff in similar amounts. he didn't have some secret advantage.
@forasagothe point is, genius, if you are natural, you won't be able to execute the same amount of exercises he did without seriious injuries and lack of results due to overtraining. Arnold - GOAT
Arnold Schwarzenegger é o maior fisiculturista de todos os tempos E além disso é o melhor ator de filme de ação
No question one of the most perfectly symmetrical backs in the world....some have been freakishly bigger....but none more symmetrical.
Such a fckn’ great video 👏🏼
G.O.A.T
6:59 T-Bar Rows
6:59 T Bar Rose 🤣
I still study him...just learned something with this video...😊..I read his book decades ago he was talking to his mucels....I did 🎉
Dankeschön Herr Schwarzenegger 🙏
Arnold is the goat of goats!

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Back is backing because a green
style is aroused by legendary Arnold.
Old school era will always be the best and the foundational standard in my book.
Back is burning..🥵
For sure it will, doing chin ups alone will burn your back
Arnold always had the Knowledge the edge. This is all about this.
Have u read his book The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding?
@HulktubeMotivation Apartheid, bro, get with it. Fast!
he also had the proper steroid cycles
@droliff Bhakti Yoga is an ultimate steroid, but it should work.
Great genes and hard training. Train as hard as you want but without great genes then Arnie you will not be.
Arnold
What is the wight when backrow .
We want at Stratford crunch. So we can send are video to you
Sincerely ♡ Summer
If your back ever gets so thick and full were you can not wipe your ass somethings wrong.
like current mr olympia contenders
Interesting...
❤
People don't realize there is no one way, because everyone's body is different!
I read he couldnt take the pain of lower sets with Arthur Jones…that was a different level
“Arnold is the greatest build man in the history of humankind”. Franco Columbo
Look at his shape! Its unbelievable!!!
2026 goal: defeat the overtraining devil.
Who had the best dealer ?
Remember b at junior school been a kid not many ppl trained like these days me dad used pick me up ripped and jacked all me m8s at school were like god look size ur dsd was not many ppl about then oviousky in gym there was that got me it to it thro my dad competing took me gym at 12 lifting my 7 pound dumbells 😂
My favorite back workout:
1-chin-ups
2-one arm dumbbell rows
3-bent over dumbbell rows
4-dumbbell deadlift
Do 3 sets of 6 reps,
Rest 30 seconds between sets
Training and get muscle pain and then maybe protein and rest I was able to do while I was younger but in 30s I am not keen to do it
What he calls chin ups is what most people call pullups, no? Overhand grip is normally called pullups or is there something I missed?
Best V shape ever 😍
love that wide v taper 💯
Dorian owns the back category. Arny takes the chest
A lot of people argue about Arnold’s training method as opposed to Mike Mitzner but you look at both of them and there is no doubt you can argue with either of them that they are living proof that each of their methods works. It is about what works for you and what you want to achieve

Mike Mentzer did high volume training also, he changed to heavy duty in order to be different and sell more books.
@luchiani1171 Not true, you still have to stimulate the muscle to grow steroids or no steroids.
❤❤❤
lets go love the support man
I think he never did 315 barbell row, that was maybe just for the photo
I bought Barbell Rose and T Bar Rose at 1-800-Flowers.
Nice motivation
Lets gooo…. love the support 😍
notice how better they look than todays guys, the skin, the face the gut all looked normal, legs not all blown up
They didn't have stupid smart phones 🤳🏼 they had pure foods, no fast food take away restaurants, they had plenty of sunshine something we don't get at all in the uk these days, only the fake sprayed clouds 😢 they had the best years of being amazing humans
Very Good Video! 💪💪💪
Thanks for the support Ray… what should we do the improve more ?
I don't know it's already Very Good 😂... you need to continue with other old time bodybuilders perhaps! 🤔
I love the "pushing your genetics to their absolute limit" , instead of "testing humans limit to performance enhancing drugs". Because the first phrase kinda half implies to natty people, not saying genetics dont matter to people on drugs, ofcourse genetics matter too, but phrasing it like that...
Form, schmorm
Best back i think was Joel Stubbs
الكينغ
So when people say you’re overtraining, say good that means I’m creating definition! 😂
Dave Draper had the best back ever.
Kia Green had the best back!
If I did those standing rows Id break my back,, Risky exercise for us normal folk but for the GOAT, easy!
What is New School Bodybuilding ??
You must do the exercise properly… 😂 As Arnold just slings the weights around.
Frank Zane was my hero..
Big back attack
best back in 70's
Arnold had a great back, but Franco Columbo had the back that was otherworldly,,,...
Und aftervards you go to the guard tower and hope for a break out attempt…..thats what my dads said
1974 Arnold Schwarzenegger was the greatest of all time.
Today's bodybuilders have overdeveloped hamstrings glutes and deltoids.
Out of proportion, and synthol galore, along with massive bubble guts.
Lots of sets in slightly different movements....to failure.
With good drugs yes!!!

Who are you kidding? Pushing the roid injections to the limit not their genetics!
Overtraining probably for definition, but not for muscle growth. It reaches a certain point where there is no more stimulation to be made, and that does not actually need 35 set to happen
Apparently it worked.
Shit. Arnold was wrong for all those years. Thanks for setting us straight buddy. Phew, dodged a bullet.
BUT HE MADE DAT 35 SETS PER BODY PART WERK LIKE A CHARM!!!!
no entire gym dressed in black like a funeral. they actually had some style and color.
11:27 If Arni calls you "faules Schwein" a lazy pig, you know you've got to stop playing around.
Everyone loves Arnold... i love arnold, but he wouldn't be anything now-a-days
But noone is like him nowadays.
at 66 years old I have been working out just so I can eventually do a pull up... maybe more than 3 push ups. you really deteriorate rapidly after 60.
Nonsense. I'm over 60 and can easily do 30 pushups in one go
He trained like this when juicing, when he cycled off he cut his volume. This era was probably the healthiest juicing era.
I always struggle with my back workouts. I can get the width, but the thickness is the weak point. Been told I fly through my back workouts and need to slow it down. Arnold has the size and strength to really show off back along with Ronnie and Jay.
Do more rowing exercises with heavy wights. And Dead lifts
@lakshanrathnayake3157Got it! Thank you!! I will be doing that today!!
that’s exactly it. if you already have the width, slowing down is the key to building thickness. control the weight, pause and squeeze every rep. focus more on heavy rows... barbell rows, t bar rows, seated cable rows, chest supported rows, and one arm dumbbell rows. rack pulls and deadlifts also add serious mid back density. NO ONE HAS A BACK LIKE RONNIE COLEMAN, NOBODY!!!!
Ronnie Coleman had a back twice as big
And all this is possible with the use of steroids.
Gallons of it
and marijuana
Deca and D-bol is what built Arnold’s thickness and width. He conveniently leaves that out.
He lied in interviews he gave back then. He swore that he wasn't using steroids. He was, as he admitted later
Well dur
"Barbell rose" (3:36)?? I'm gonna ask my local florist for a nice bouquet of barbell roses 😆
Rows dummy
All this for what? a future trophies and medals? Human beings are crazy....
Just feels like ai ugh i'mout
