At the time, global expansion was much harder than it is today. Eventually, Source Music let them go, but they should have been honored as legends for their legacy and achievements. While HYBE likely made this decision to prioritize growth and global expansion, it still feels bittersweet. The recent 10th-anniversary album is a dream come true, but I can’t help wondering-what if they had stayed? They may not have fit the 4th or 5th-generation mold, but their unique 3rd-generation style would have brought greater musical diversity. It’s natural for companies to prioritize profits, but respecting their legacy would have elevated the company’s value. I’m filled with joy and sadness-I miss them so much.

I got into Gfriend, especially their more witchy sounding songs, when they were already disbanded, so this was awesome to see. I love the other song on the album!
the employees didn’t know gfriends contracts were terminated until the new articles i think like 80% left. my take is that source wanted a group popular in the states and knowing that gfriend wasnt they decided to let them go and that’s where le sserafim comes in. kpop now is like if ur not popular in the states then it doesn’t matter if ur main audience is in asia
