I've actually been noticing this for about 15 years or so. The Game has some kind of lisp, and also Lloyd Banks has an interesting sound. There's something about it that makes them unique sounding which is incredibly important for being memorable, but there also might be something significant related to an internal battle they face, whereby they "can't talk properly" at a young age, so they grow to become incredibly good at talking over top of beats.
