I think Porter Robinson deserves an honorable mention either for nurture or for worlds in an eventual part 2. Even if the production is not on par with the likes shown here, I feel his influence in the scene plus his side projects really earn him the place. Great video!
The production on Worlds is fantastic. The synths are glistening and pristine, with flourishes of game-like sounds, synth drum fills and use of vocaloid that give the album such a unique identity among it's contemporaries. Meanwhile, Nurture is kept fairly minimal in production, letting the lyrics and the melodies speak for themselves and conjuring a serene atmosphere. In these senses, I think the production is just as good as anything listed in the video
Here's some of mine that I would add! (excluding anything from Radiohead or Aphex Twin) 1) Nurture by Porter Robinson. He mixes the sounds of Japanese folk with euphoric dance pop so well. It's an album as cathartic as it is intimate and beautiful. 2) Skin by Flume for the otherworldly sound design and incredibly curated features. His mixtape Hi, This is Flume is totally up there as well. 3) Caribou, Our Love, for the playful sound of indie rock woven in with calming electronics 4) Machine Girl's Wlfgrl is up there as well, for taking various drum and bass genres and breathing new life into them for a fun and creative explosion of sound 5) M83, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming, for the beautifully cinematic (yet not overdone) shoegazy production and painfully nostalgic lyrics.
He said at that start that Aphex and Radiohead were disqualified along with Daft Punk, as well as Björk and LCD Soundsystem. I'd add them too if it wasn't for that
I had literally not heard of any of these, so thank you for introducing them to me. It is so hard to get out of the feedback loop of streaming platforms to find new discoveries, so I still really rely on places like this channel to help curate new discoveries.
on spotify, i recommend looking for new music by scrolling down on an artist’s page to see “similar artists”. its a mostly great way to discover new stuff
Something I appreciate is that you didn't just go with other super popular edm albums like Calvin Harris, David Guetta, or Zedd, but instead went with unique and interesting albums that deserve a ton of more love
This may be my opinion however almost all David Guetta, Zedd, Calvin Harris albums I've heard all suffered from aging production or sound. One More Love by David Guetta sounds very dated now.
Since you mentionned Bjork while talking about Sophie, I think you would have a field day if you try to dip your toes of Bjork's discography and how much she held the torch of artpop throughout 3 decades, especially with the release of her new album
Fantastic video. There's loads I'd add to the list: Portishead - Dummy Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole, all their albums Bicep - Isles Jon Hopkins - Singularity Four Tet - There Is Love In You Bonobo - The North Borders, Fragments Justice's next two records are well worth a look, like 70s/80s era excess done with synths SBTRKTs debut Disclosure Dive by Tycho Moderat's debut Moon Safari and Talkie Walkie by Air The Warning by Hot Chip Melody AM by Royksopp Psychic by Darkside Fever Ray's debut and Silent Shout by The Knife Cassius - 1999
Yeah i can second your every entry on this list, nothing to add. Especially SBTRKT and Jon Hopkins as well as Bonobo and Moderat have been defining i'd say and i would have loved on of those four to be on the list.
Röyksopp’s Melody A.M. should’ve gotten some mention. Nothing else sounds quite like it, not even the duo’s other work. It shifts from dreamy, melodic soundscapes to slamming house beats seamlessly and is a hell of a ride throughout. One of the greatest downtempo records ever produced.
Good list but you’re missing Oneohtrix point never, one of the most innovative and groundbreaking artists of the 21st century. Replica, r plus seven, and garden of delete are all fantastic
We need another list with these: Settle - Disclosure Santigold - Santogold M.I.A.- MAYA Basement Jaxx - Rooty Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles Four Tet - There Is Love In You Jessy Lanza - Pull My Hair Back Kelela - Take Me Apart Caribou - Our Love Random Album Title - Deadmau5 Honorable Mentions: Laurel Halo - Dust Shlohmo - Bad Vibes
I'm so happy that Against All Logic 2012-2017 was included! But I also feel like Jaar's debut album Space Is Only Noise deserves just as much credit or even more, hopefully it will get a mention in a part II
Seeing Boards of Canada getting mentioned on every video brightens me up. They're like one of my favourite artists ever period; and the rarities they've put out to public (A Few Old Tunes, BOC Maxima) and the undiscovered gems have been intrigued me for years about their overall sound pre-MHTRTC.
Still hurts me how dubstep's name got totally dragged through the mud thanks to Skrillex Et al. Mid 2000s was such an interesting time for dubstep, and not the awful hyper stuff most people associate it with. if you like Untrue, check out people like Kode9 (Hyperdub label head - who signed Burial) track - 9 Samurai Mala - album Mala in Cuba Loefah - tracks Mud, The Goat Stare The Bug - track Skeng, Poison Dart
you know skrillex did originly drag it through the mud but have you heard his new album quest for fire it takes alot of insparation from alot of the old uk dubstep days
Great list - I'd definitely be putting in something from Bonobo if I did something like this, every album from Black Sands onwards is incredible in my opinion and I frequently revisit them for tonnes of different reasons
James Blake's self titled album is like no other. It's so intricate and delicate, his voice is amazing and distinctive, and the silences and spaces within the songs are so perfectly placed. I love that album dearly.
Other albums that could be mentioned are: 1 - The Fat of the Land / The Prodigy 2 - Dig Your Own Hole / The Chemical Brothers 4 - 76:14 / Global Communication 5 - Selected Ambient Works 85-92 / Aphex Twin 6 - Die Mensch-Maschine / Kraftwerk 7 - The Last Goodbye / ODESZA 8 - Black Sands / BONOBO
Brilliant! Thanks for introducing me to new albums. I listened to Sweet Trip a few months ago and I really loved it. I would love to see you make a video on 100 gecs/hyperpop!
I enjoyed the list. I will give the sugestions a try. Personally I have always enjoyed James Blake James Blake thoroughly. Same with In Colour. And SOPHIE. Omg. I guess Leak 04-13 by Jai Paul fits, and also Bon Iver's 22, A million too. But these are probably already know by your viewerbase. Gallows by DRAMA is very cool and funky with soothing vocals. Through the Walls by WhoMadeWho is to me a great electronic rock album with a mesmerising vocal. And even though it is a well-known album, GENERATIONWHY by ZHU is just so incredibly well produced it deserves a shout out, on my list
Thank you, yes. The latest Royksopp is incredible, Junior/Senior are amazing... everything they do is incredible. Hurry Up, We're Dreaming is peak M83 but on a recent re-listen, I feel it hasn't quite held up.
“Immersion” by Pendulum should have gotten at the very least, an honorable mention. It is easily the best Drum & Bass album of the 21st century. I can hardly think of any modern-day D&B song that had actually left me speechless. It baffles me to see that there’s barely anyone making D&B like Pendulum anymore. It’s one of the few D&B albums that actually makes me feel like I’m going through a journey, and witnessing a satisfying end to it. “Encoder” is easily one of the best album closers ever. Period. Not to mention the amount of experimentation with sound, and genres in the album, you get an incredible dubstep song like “Set Me On Fire”, a house track like “The Island”, and a metalcore/D&B fusion with “Self vs Self”. Despite being different from the other tracks on the album, they all fit perfectly, and bring the album to bigger heights with their interesting sound. A lot of people still listen to the album, but it hardly feels like most modern-day D&B producers haven’t picked up on the lessons they could learn from Pendulum.
An album with zero skips. It’s a classic. Of pendulums albums, they really found ‘their’ sound by immersion. Hold your colour was very British jungle/garage type DnB with lots of samples. ‘In Silico’ (my favourite album) is where they were finding their feet to become that pendulum sound. With more vocals from Rob, they found that rock DnB flair. ‘The tempest’ is a fantastic album closer too. Immersion, with loud punchy guitars, pounding drums and tasty synths with some great features and Rob Swire singing his heart out. I also like that the final track, encoder, ends with a underwater swishing as if to say it’s over. And then their follow up track, Driver starts with the sound of water anda man gasping for breath as if to say ‘we’re back’
I'm torn about this. I much prefer Pendulum's older work, before they became a live band. Hold your colour is a great album and I never really liked what they did after that. It's weird, because I grew up on rock and metal, and am also massively into DnB, and produce it myself, but I just really don't like the crossover. I think a lot of producers have been heavily influenced by Pendulum, but the style of dancefloor DnB they were making back in the early to mid 2000's, while looked back on fondly, doesn't really fly in todays scene.
If you make a part 2 i would definitely include both Madeon and Porter Robinson. Both of their 2-album discographies are super fresh-sounding and they each amplify different aspects of electronic music in super unique ways.
some fantastic picks here! discovery is my favourite electronic album of all time, but cosmogramma is a 10/10 for me, and untrue, velocity: design: comfort and since i left you are all up there
You know that almost all the albums on the list are ground breaking? Reborn is not even Kavinsky’s best. It’s a good album, it’s just not in the same level as these.
björk's 'homogenic' , ! ... "classical strings + techno electronica beats , with a hint of anger . both a punch to the gut , 🤜 and a fist in the air.” ✊ 🇮🇸 🇪🇦 🇬🇧 🎼 🎻 🎤 🎧 🎚️
Great video! Discovered some new albums to listen to 😊 For part 2, I think Mura Masa self-titled debut album deserves a mention. Although I like Soundtrack to a Death much more Also Kaytranada 99.9%!
been listening to sweet trip for the last week and I absolutely love it. Untrue and James Blake are in my top 20 Albums of all time. Only heard Flying Lotus and Sophie, I liked them but havent spent as much time on them as the others. Sure thing I'll listen to the others here, u seem to have a great taste!
Forgot: Mount Kimbie's Krooks and Lovers is also Goated. And if you like a less known suggestion, Cid Rim woth his new Album Songs fpr Vienna is also a gem. Thx spotify algorythm
Jon Hopkins' Immunity is my favourite album of all time - I'd have been interested to hear your thoughts on it but top 12 doesn't have the same ring. If you were looking to explore different angles of electronic music, I would always point to Nils Frahm or Bonobo (particularly Migration).
Huge thank you for putting literally all of the info in the description, including the over-publicized artists. My partner sent this to me really late last night and it was nice to get some info at a glance before I had time to come back and watch.
If you ever make a part 2, here's some other albums to consider Nurture by Porter Robinson Inside Out by Tourist (or any tourist album for that matter, love the dude) Louie by Kenny Beats 99.9% by kaytranada Hi This Is Flume by Flume Causeres of This by Toro Y Moi (such an underrated of his, rlly great blend between early 2010's indie and electronic with plunderphonic elements)
The Ineffable Truth by G Jones is the best electronic album of the last decade imo. a perfect blend of EDM/IDM with incredible sound design and it’s an album that just flows so perfectly. no skips!
BURIAL deserves all the recognition he can get. UNTRUE is a fucking masterpiece and one of the best albums in underground electronic scene. Also honorable mentions you should have included: EPROM, Alix Perez, G Jones, OfTheTrees
“Untrue” is an incredible record, front to back. Without doubt, one of the best bloody electronic albums. In terms of its feel, it’s unrivalled. Just grimy, rain-soaked London streets at nighttime. So gorgeous, man.
great takes, some albums that would need to appear in a part 2, in my humble opinion, would be: Flume - Hit this is Flume ODESZA - A Moment Apart Digitalism - JPEG TEED - When The Lights Go KOAN Sound - Polychrome
I’m so glad I found your video! I’ve been trying to find flying lotus for so long! I heard them in a playlist but was to busy to add it to my lists, and so it got lost in the algorithm. Thank you!
So glad you mentioned flying lotus he's seriously one of my favorite and one of the most unique producers. Another edm artist that I think deserves appreciation would be kaytranda
Sweet list, love it! I would add: Crystal Castles - S/T (Dance-Punk, Synth-Punk) Crystal Castles - II (Witch House, Dance -Punk) The Prodigy - The Fat of the Land (Hardcore Techno, Big Beat) Porter Robinson - Nurture (EDM) Leftfield - Leftism (Outsider House, Tribal House) Daphni - Cherry (Tech House, Microhouse) System F - Out of the Blue (Uplifting Trance) I Hate Models - Totsuka No Tsurugi (Techno, Tech Trance) Everything but the Girl - Temperamental (Liquid Drums and Bass, Alternative/Contemporary R&B)
I feel like Schwefelgelb is an artist duo not too talked about. A really refined old school techno sound, especially with Das Ende vom Kreis. Heard someone perfectly describe it as “what the electronic artists of the 70’s might have envisioned the genre would sound like years later”.
Ohhh really missing some Oneohtrix Point Never in here! Also would include people like Flume and Kaytranada. Another, extreeeemely underrated album is Only Diamonds Cut Diamonds by Vegyn. So good.
@@noahsabadish3812 yeah very excited for that! I have a slight ‘fear’ that it’ll get a bit repititive with that Kaytranada production and Aminé just rapping over it, but it’s probably not going to be that long, so should be good!
Aussie here, Since I left you, The Avalanches is fucking amazing! So good to listen to the whole album on a journey! also, yes to Jon Hopkins! I saw him play Immunity in Berlin at Bi Nuu, under a train station, incredible! So good, I had a friend say it was her “get shit done album”❤
Wow I love all the albums everyone is sharing! Gonna add some albums I love to the list: Grant - Cranks Lone - Reality Testing Leon Vynehall - Music for the Uninvited Paradis - Recto Verso Ross from Friends - Family Portrait Mount Kimbie - Crooks and Lovers DARKSIDE - Psychic
Here go some more!! • Porter Robinson - Worlds • Basement Jaxx - Rooty • The Prodigy - The Fat of the Land • M83 - Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming • AIR - Talkie Walkie • Mont Duamel - Sunshine • Purity Ring - Shrines • The Postal Service - Give Up • Royksopp - Melody A.M. • Oliver - Full Circle
No mention of Porter Robinson or Madeon? Both started out with EDM-stylised albums (Worlds and the Deluxe release of Adventure are great), but have moved onto blending other genres into their sound. Nurture is gorgeous with it's folk influences and personal lyrics, while Good Faith has some great disco grooves and a moody atmosphere.
Gonna add some more suggestions to this list! The descriptions are maybe a bit wanky but hopefully paint a good picture of what the music sounds like and why I love it. All of these are 10/10 in my opinion, I really recommend just listening to each record in full (but I'll add some recommendations for where to start, too) Talaboman - The Night Land: Varied mix of hazy, dreamlike, almost shamanistic downtempo/techno with achingly beautiful melodies. (check: Safe Changes, Loser's Hymn) Daniel Avery - Drone Logic: Brilliantly crafted bleepy bloopy techno with lots of drama and a really distinct sonic profile. Kinda makes you feel like you are stepping inside the mind of an awakening machine intelligence (check: Naive Response, Drone Logic) Skee Mask - Compro: Utterly sublime and intricately detailed ambient techno with next level sound design, as broken as it is stunningly beautiful (check: Flyby VFR, Via Sub Mids) Dauwd - Theory of Colours: Would vaguely file this under "house" but in practice it's a lot more interesting and unique than that. Richly textured, precious and delicate music like a crystal gleaming in the light that might break as soon as it's touched (check: Macadam Therapy, Unconscious)
Thanks for making me go back and listen to In Colour properly. Its one of those albums that i know a heap of tracks off of, but realised I had never listened to in its entirety.
A bit sad that neither ** by Caravan Palace nor *Coco, Pt. 2* by Parov Stelar didn’t even warrant an honorable mention. Even in spite of that, however, this was a great list; *Since I Left You* has to be one of my all-time favorite albums.
Absolutely Parov-Stelar should have been on there. Also Boris Breja although he is more EDM. Would have loved to see Photay at LEAST get an honorable mention. Also where in the heck was Baths?! And absolutely 0 mention of Irish Electro Queen Rósín Murphy .
I would put in here Fred Again's album: Actual Life 1. It's not about the production, but the concept behind it, the way he uses samples of his life to tell the story, all focused on the emotion and journey of a healing proccess. It's one of the most groundbreaking albums in terms of how honest and pure it sounds.
Syro to me is still by far one of the most impressive electronic albums of the 21st century "perpetually over publicized" is such an odd way to categorize the most skillful and inventive musician in the history of electronic music.
There simply won't be enough love for an amazing record like Cross by Justice
It’s so goood
@@TKbeatwerk nahh it's ok
I have Justice “Cross” on cd. It’s good, but I was blown away by this album on vinyl..
Justice rules
Average at best
I had no idea how much I needed this video
and this video only covers music past 2000. the '90s are peak electronic
Oil of every pearl's un-insides is my fav electronic album of the past decade. Just so ahead of it's time, so influencial in pop music and culture.
wrote this before watching the vid, you gave it a #2. YES. WE STAN TASTE IN THIS CHANNEL.
The transition from It's Okay To Cry to Ponyboy rewired my brain chemistry
So happy to see In Colour by Jamie XX talked about! It's fantastic!
drop your lastfm asimo
In life, there’s roadblocks
“I wish I loved myself as much as I loved Since I Left You” is my favorite Middle 8 line ever
In Colour will always be legendary and hold a special place in my heart. Jamie xx needs to release a sophomore album already.
Dude’s been teasing us with singles and remixes.
Jamie confirmed his next LP comes out this year
in color it's just a great album all rounded and really colorful, sleep sound was stuck in my top most played songs for a entirely month, it's just great, specially that sub bass line all the song
Burial truly is one of the most important electronic artists as of today. Truly my no. 1 all time electronic artist.
Only Discovered him fairly recently and I’m entranced
checked his discography, sounds bad tbf
i know a lot of artists who makes such type of music but it sounds 10x times better (no negative towards Burial)

Yes, along with Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Pet Shop Boys, OMD, Human League, Soft Cell, 808 State, and many many many more.
Underworld as well
I would add Sebastian-Total
Yeah, but except Four Tet all of them would also fall into the P.O.P. category.
as THE big beat fan, I gotta say Fatboy Slim is nowhere near The Chem Bros of Prodigy. someone like Lo Fidelity Allstars is closer to that level imo
Arca absolutely deserves more credit. She has helped define the sound of electronic music over the last 15 years along with Nicolas Jaar, SOPHIE, OPN and FlyLo
OPN 👌
Underrated comment
Solid list! Some personal favorites I would add:
1) M83 - Hurry Up, Were Dreaming
2) Disclosure - Settle
3) Rufus Du Sol - Bloom
Love Bloom! Although I feel the tracks get kinda random in between. Solace & Surrender are great & much more consistent with their style. However, Innerbloom is THE ONE that stole my heart ❤
I feel like Hurry Up, We're Dreaming should have definitely been part of this list imo. At least an honorable mention.
Rufus du sol is so slept on!
I'd personally add Daniel Avery's "Ultra Truth" to this list!
Hell yes, love me some Disclosure.
Boards of Canada - Geogaddi is a masterpiece album. It's beautiful and terrifying at the same time! ❤
Love that album. I got into making electronic music partly because of the song Alpha and Omega.
Geogaddi is such a great album. It's one of my favorite albums.

What an album, it has so many direct influences
Some albums that should be listened at least once :
The Field - From Here We Go Sublime (amazingly done microsampled house)
Autechre - Confield (way more unhinged than Aphex Twin, their discography is amazing)
808 State - 90 (creative old school house)
Any Kraftwerk from Autobahn to Electric Café/Techno Pop (the robots before Daft Punk)
The Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole, Surrender and Further (their whole discog is amazing tho)
Kaytranada - 99.9% (Flying Lotus if he did RnB)
Boards Of Canada - Twoism, MHTRTC and The Campfire Headphase
LCD Soundsystem - Self-Titled and Sound Of Silver
Brain Eno - Another Green World (electronic classic)
Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Architecture And Morality, Dazzle Ships (creative synthpop)
Floating Points - Crush (the first half is amazing and expressive IDM)
Hudson Mohawke - Cry Sugar (not the best album pacing but creative production)
Future Sound Of London - Dead Cities, Lifeforms (early 90s psychedelic ambient music)
The Orb - U.F.Orb (same but more progressive)
Soulwax - Nite Versions (incredible production with rock influences)
Underworld - 1992-2002 (better than listening to their actual albums personally)
Roni Size/Reprazent - New Forms (Jungle done right)
The Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land (that one big beat trio)
Edit :
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavillon (Electro Pop on Steroids)
Fatboy Slim - Halfway Between The Gutter And The Stars
Massive Attack - Mezzanine
I might have forgotten something, but I was really surprised to see no Chemical Brothers on this list considering that they are the british equivalent of Daft Punk. I have to say, In Colour was a great choice
I too was surprised not to see any Chemical Brothers. Or Fatboy Slim for that matter.

Chemical Brothers are arguably “B.O.B.”.
Cry Sugar is wonderful. I’d also add Bubba to your Kaytranada mention

Since you mentionned Bjork while talking about Sophie, I think you would have a field day if you try to dip your toes of Bjork's discography and how much she held the torch of artpop throughout 3 decades, especially with the release of her new album
I never expected OOEPUI to be featured. I love this album. RIP SOPHIE
Fantastic video. There's loads I'd add to the list:
Portishead - Dummy
Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole, all their albums
Bicep - Isles
Jon Hopkins - Singularity
Four Tet - There Is Love In You
Bonobo - The North Borders, Fragments
Justice's next two records are well worth a look, like 70s/80s era excess done with synths
SBTRKTs debut
Disclosure
Dive by Tycho
Moderat's debut
Moon Safari and Talkie Walkie by Air
The Warning by Hot Chip
Melody AM by Royksopp
Psychic by Darkside
Fever Ray's debut and Silent Shout by The Knife
Cassius - 1999
Jon Hopkins GOATed. some of the craziest textures in electronic music
Also loved moderats 2nd too
Yeah i can second your every entry on this list, nothing to add.
Royksopp is fkn excellent
Good list but you’re missing Oneohtrix point never, one of the most innovative and groundbreaking artists of the 21st century. Replica, r plus seven, and garden of delete are all fantastic
Yeahhh OPN is really missing here
We need another list with these:
Settle - Disclosure
Santigold - Santogold
M.I.A.- MAYA
Basement Jaxx - Rooty
Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles
Four Tet - There Is Love In You
Jessy Lanza - Pull My Hair Back
Kelela - Take Me Apart
Caribou - Our Love
Random Album Title - Deadmau5
Honorable Mentions:
Laurel Halo - Dust
Shlohmo - Bad Vibes
I'm so happy that Against All Logic 2012-2017 was included! But I also feel like Jaar's debut album Space Is Only Noise deserves just as much credit or even more, hopefully it will get a mention in a part II
Loved the video!! I trink Flume‘s mixtape deserves a shout as well!
Shout out to death's dynamic shroud! Those guys are making some mind blowing electronic music
Where's Aphex Twin?
Still hurts me how dubstep's name got totally dragged through the mud thanks to Skrillex Et al.
Mid 2000s was such an interesting time for dubstep, and not the awful hyper stuff most people associate it with. if you like Untrue, check out people like Kode9 (Hyperdub label head - who signed Burial) track - 9 Samurai
Mala - album Mala in Cuba
Loefah - tracks Mud, The Goat Stare
The Bug - track Skeng, Poison Dart
you know skrillex did originly drag it through the mud but have you heard his new album quest for fire it takes alot of insparation from alot of the old uk dubstep days
Great list - I'd definitely be putting in something from Bonobo if I did something like this, every album from Black Sands onwards is incredible in my opinion and I frequently revisit them for tonnes of different reasons
he’s an astonishing artist
I am so glad that some of them were already in my rotation but now I found some new artists thx
James Blake's self titled album is like no other. It's so intricate and delicate, his voice is amazing and distinctive, and the silences and spaces within the songs are so perfectly placed. I love that album dearly.
Other albums that could be mentioned are:
1 - The Fat of the Land / The Prodigy
2 - Dig Your Own Hole / The Chemical Brothers
4 - 76:14 / Global Communication
5 - Selected Ambient Works 85-92 / Aphex Twin
6 - Die Mensch-Maschine / Kraftwerk
7 - The Last Goodbye / ODESZA
8 - Black Sands / BONOBO
I was looking for this comment! Add Leftfield’s ‘Leftism’, another classic.
Absolute legends for making this video. Something I’ve been needing for a long time
Some of my favourites you haven't mentioned:
Royksopp - The Understanding
M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
Caribou - Our Love
I love caribou. They should be respected moar
Thank you, yes. The latest Royksopp is incredible, Junior/Senior are amazing... everything they do is incredible.
Hurry Up, We're Dreaming is peak M83 but on a recent re-listen, I feel it hasn't quite held up.
100% agree with The Understanding, it's a perfect album!! I keep getting back and caught again in repeat even if it's almost 20 years old, omg...
Love Boards of Canada! Geogaddi is a masterpiece, my favourite of theirs.
And then their follow up track, Driver starts with the sound of water anda man gasping for breath as if to say ‘we’re back’
I love Pendulum, I'm waiting for their new track to be released.
And my boy Flume! He changed the game... way too many times for EDM.
thanks for saying this! Love both of these artists and their vision and unique feels in their music
Thanks for the video! Jus listened to Geogaddi and Since I Left you and these have definitely become some of my favorite records ever!
some fantastic picks here! discovery is my favourite electronic album of all time, but cosmogramma is a 10/10 for me, and untrue, velocity: design: comfort and since i left you are all up there
There's this album you have to listen to since I think it fits this list easily: Reborn by Kavinsky. I can't recommend it enough.
A good portion of that album is co-produced by one half of Justice too
@@sgm3488 I am aware of that, and it's friggin awesome.
You know that almost all the albums on the list are ground breaking? Reborn is not even Kavinsky’s best. It’s a good album, it’s just not in the same level as these.
@@sgm3488 wowowowowow
Awesome list! Happy you included VDC. I would also give a shout-out to “I’ll Try Living Like This” by death’s dynamic shroud.
THANK YOU for mentioning sweet trip 🙏 It’s my favourite album of all time
björk's 'homogenic' , ! ... "classical strings + techno electronica beats , with a hint of anger . both a punch to the gut , 🤜 and a fist in the air.” ✊ 🇮🇸 🇪🇦 🇬🇧 🎼 🎻 🎤 🎧 🎚️
Great video! Discovered some new albums to listen to 😊
For part 2, I think Mura Masa self-titled debut album deserves a mention. Although I like Soundtrack to a Death much more
Also Kaytranada 99.9%!
hopefully some Four Tet or Caribou as well
@@thegabagool Yes! Can’t believe I forgot Four Tet and Caribou
Also Bicep, way too many good artists out there
Dude, words cant describe how good that first "Avalanches" album is.
been listening to sweet trip for the last week and I absolutely love it.
Jon Hopkins has made some of the best electronic songs ever. just stunning
So happy to see SOPHIE, Burial & Flying Lotus on this list! All 3 of those albums have been so important in my life. I couldn't recommend them enough!
Huge thank you for putting literally all of the info in the description, including the over-publicized artists. My partner sent this to me really late last night and it was nice to get some info at a glance before I had time to come back and watch.
If you ever make a part 2, here's some other albums to consider
Nurture by Porter Robinson
Inside Out by Tourist (or any tourist album for that matter, love the dude)
Louie by Kenny Beats
99.9% by kaytranada
Hi This Is Flume by Flume
Causeres of This by Toro Y Moi (such an underrated of his, rlly great blend between early 2010's indie and electronic with plunderphonic elements)
Hi This Is Flume is great but I've come to love Big Fish Theory by Vince Staples just as much if not more, for that kind of electro-pop-rap-fusion
@@unhelpfulrevelations7989 big fish theory is sooo good as well
Great video! I'm glad you include albums like In colour and Since i left you. A respectable list.
Since I left You by The Avalanches, is definitely one of those albums that is one of its kind.
Justice better be on here.
So gorgeous, man.
great takes, some albums that would need to appear in a part 2, in my humble opinion, would be:
Flume - Hit this is Flume
ODESZA - A Moment Apart
Digitalism - JPEG
TEED - When The Lights Go
KOAN Sound - Polychrome
YES i thought I was the only person mentioning Polychrome. unbelievable that this album even exists
This list needs There is Love in You by Four Tet. Also Give Up by The Postal Service if it counts
Four Tet is one that just got inched out. He would definitely take a spot in a Part II
@@Middle8 definitely add caribou, four tet, and deadmau5 for part 2
ah yes no aphex twin
He was mentioned but was among the pop artists
Go to 0:34, buddy.
I’m so glad I found your video! I’ve been trying to find flying lotus for so long! I heard them in a playlist but was to busy to add it to my lists, and so it got lost in the algorithm. Thank you!
Wish this got more views this is a great video concept and great execution
So glad you mentioned flying lotus he's seriously one of my favorite and one of the most unique producers. Another edm artist that I think deserves appreciation would be kaytranda
Sweet list, love it! I would add:
Crystal Castles - S/T (Dance-Punk, Synth-Punk)
Crystal Castles - II (Witch House, Dance -Punk)
The Prodigy - The Fat of the Land (Hardcore Techno, Big Beat)
Porter Robinson - Nurture (EDM)
Leftfield - Leftism (Outsider House, Tribal House)
Daphni - Cherry (Tech House, Microhouse)
System F - Out of the Blue (Uplifting Trance)
I Hate Models - Totsuka No Tsurugi (Techno, Tech Trance)
Everything but the Girl - Temperamental (Liquid Drums and Bass, Alternative/Contemporary R&B)
no opn 😞 daniel will be hearing about this
I feel like Schwefelgelb is an artist duo not too talked about. A really refined old school techno sound, especially with Das Ende vom Kreis. Heard someone perfectly describe it as “what the electronic artists of the 70’s might have envisioned the genre would sound like years later”.
Love this video! A year now after first watching it and it got me into my favorite albums
I graduated highschool in 2012. In 2013 my second semester in college I really broadened my music horizon and found James Blake and my life changed.
Ohhh really missing some Oneohtrix Point Never in here! Also would include people like Flume and Kaytranada. Another, extreeeemely underrated album is Only Diamonds Cut Diamonds by Vegyn. So good.
every artist you mentioned 🔥 hoping Kaytranada delivers on the amine project this Friday
@@noahsabadish3812 yeah very excited for that! I have a slight ‘fear’ that it’ll get a bit repititive with that Kaytranada production and Aminé just rapping over it, but it’s probably not going to be that long, so should be good!
I really like the fast pace of the video. Precise opinions and no time wasted
These videos where you just recommend music you really like are probably my favorites you do, great vid!
8:18 argument got me to listen to the album. "its a must listen for those with ears"🙏
Wow I love all the albums everyone is sharing! Gonna add some albums I love to the list:
Grant - Cranks
Lone - Reality Testing
Leon Vynehall - Music for the Uninvited
Paradis - Recto Verso
Ross from Friends - Family Portrait
Mount Kimbie - Crooks and Lovers
DARKSIDE - Psychic
A lot of good takes in this one.
Here go some more!!
• Porter Robinson - Worlds
• Basement Jaxx - Rooty
• The Prodigy - The Fat of the Land
• M83 - Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming
• AIR - Talkie Walkie
• Mont Duamel - Sunshine
• Purity Ring - Shrines
• The Postal Service - Give Up
• Royksopp - Melody A.M.
Gioli & Assia are not too big on the album department but still a worthy addition here
I’ve heard every album from # 7 and up except number 2. Will definitely check it out if it’s held as high as some of the greatest albums of all time
Gonna add some more suggestions to this list! The descriptions are maybe a bit wanky but hopefully paint a good picture of what the music sounds like and why I love it. All of these are 10/10 in my opinion, I really recommend just listening to each record in full (but I'll add some recommendations for where to start, too)
Talaboman - The Night Land: Varied mix of hazy, dreamlike, almost shamanistic downtempo/techno with achingly beautiful melodies. (check: Safe Changes, Loser's Hymn)
Daniel Avery - Drone Logic: Brilliantly crafted bleepy bloopy techno with lots of drama and a really distinct sonic profile. Kinda makes you feel like you are stepping inside the mind of an awakening machine intelligence (check: Naive Response, Drone Logic)
Skee Mask - Compro: Utterly sublime and intricately detailed ambient techno with next level sound design, as broken as it is stunningly beautiful (check: Flyby VFR, Via Sub Mids)
Dauwd - Theory of Colours: Would vaguely file this under "house" but in practice it's a lot more interesting and unique than that. Richly textured, precious and delicate music like a crystal gleaming in the light that might break as soon as it's touched (check: Macadam Therapy, Unconscious)
Jamie xx is really good
Missing some Tim Hecker, death's dynamic shroud, Massive Attack, Squarepusher, Bajofondo and Arca, but great list!
Thanks for making me go back and listen to In Colour properly. Its one of those albums that i know a heap of tracks off of, but realised I had never listened to in its entirety.
Thank you for talking about velocity design comfort it’s such an underrated album and does get talked about enough I love it
Air - 10 000 Hz Legend
Denki Groove - Tropical Love
Gesaffelstein - Aleph
Alt 236 - Leviathan
Todd Terje - It's Album Time
Only bangers
another electronic album id like to mention is “Love What Survives” by Mount Kimbie.
These are all fantastic records. Great list man.
Also Empire of the Sun’s Two Vines !!!!!!!
Also kick iii by arca
I would put in here Fred Again's album: Actual Life 1. It's not about the production, but the concept behind it, the way he uses samples of his life to tell the story, all focused on the emotion and journey of a healing proccess. It's one of the most groundbreaking albums in terms of how honest and pure it sounds.
Man literally when to RYM and went top rated electronic albums of all time
Right? Basic list
This is an amazing list! If there is a sequel totally include something by oneohtrix point never
Syro to me is still by far one of the most impressive electronic albums of the 21st century
"perpetually over publicized" is such an odd way to categorize the most skillful and inventive musician in the history of electronic music.
