Hello again! We are back at Merseyrail, once again! At long last! Today we are finding the longest journey on the network! Hope you enjoy! Follow me on the Twitterz: @NickBadley
Ah Capenhurst. The starting point for some many journeys in my youth. Although in those days it wasn’t Merseyrail and Bache hadn’t even been built. Going to Liverpool had to change at Rock Ferry for Merseyrail. I actually remember when the terminal was moved from Rock Ferry to Hootn
That’s interesting. I would think Formby to Hightown (or some thing like that) would be long as the field stretches for a long time but when you consider it it’s shorter! Great video!
Longest I did on that network was Bebington to Rock Ferry, but then they took the train out of service 😀 Be interesting to see how much different the 777's will make on those times.
Yeah I've heard about how they aren't doing services to Green Lane and Bromborough Rake on the Chester-bound trains, but had no idea about the half-hourly Capenhurst services.
@@NickBadley When they had the reduce timetable of every 20 minutes during the pandemic, every train did stop at Capenhurst, I remember going there once during every 20 minutes but never experience the fast trains passing there, only been a fast train passing through
Guessed right before watching. I think you picked a bad time to film. For a while a few stations would be omitted from certain journeys. I know Green Lane & Bromborough Rake would often be missed out so I’m presuming Capenhurst was part of that operation. Enjoyed again thanks 👍
Love the videos keep them up. I would of guessed Maghull to towngreen before the new station was built as those fields (dubbed starhill) last forever would never of guessed
If you're only going by distance, I think you're only getting part of the picture, especially if you factor in arriving into Liverpool Central from either Brunswick or Moorfields when trains often have to wait for a platform to free up, or speed limits, etc.
Ey you made it back to the right L city! But anyway your content is very interesting to watch and is definitely very professional comparing to other channels with around the same amount of subs as you. Keep it up!
Hi Nick, have you ever thought about the longest journey you can do on the entire Merseyrail Network? I think it could be Hunts Cross to Southport but I could be wrong.
Yeah it was quite annoying, only way you'd find out is until you get on the train and it says "next station is.." or, if you're lucky, the dot matrix at the platform will be a newer one which says the stations it's calling at
@@caramelldansen2204 I believe that there is such a thing as the “Bielefeld Conspiracy“ - the local council even used it in their tourist info a few years ago.
Technically wouldn’t it be Hooton to Bache as only every 2 Chester trains stop at Capenhurst?
Next up; What's the most average Merseyrail Joyrney?
Easy! If you're a tourist it's Lime Street to Central...
@Steve H what about if your a commuter?

Another great video Nick. You / Jago and Geoff Marshall are my go to railway videos.
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoy :)

Aren't the ones that skip stops technically longer?
Capenhurst only gets a 30 minute service as you experience in the video, nice video Nick
Ahhhh, that would explain it. Must remember that next time!
@@NickBadley They also done that for Bromborough Kate... Sorry Rake and Green Late they have less frequency as well

*have thought

ayyyy 1k subs congrats
I do think that the Class 777 Merseyrail trains should be in service from next year. As always keep up the good work Nick.
Hoylake-west kirby is a short journey but there is a very low speed limit approaching west kirby so it could be a contender for 3rd place

Hi I have been watching you beautiful videos which taken me aback,I hope more have to come yet prettier than that,
Was anticipating you getting a train that skips Capenhurst haha

Another Merseyrail video? Let's goooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
brilliant video and very interesting finding the longest journey on Merseyrail and looks fun to do aswell
Just so you know capenhurst is served by every other train.
Hi Nick, have you ever thought about the longest journey you can do on the entire Merseyrail Network? I think it could be Hunts Cross to Southport but I could be wrong.
Try Chester to Chester.
am i missing something? isnt the longest Liverpool central to chester?
If the stop near Liverpool South Parkway was open
Liverpool south parkway and that stop would probably be the closest between stops
Great work mate! BTW the Merseyrail trains look as if they've never been renovated, they're in terrible nick...
I’d say Southport - Hunts Cross.
Fastest journey on merseyrail is moreton to meols .. ( mph ) as it's perfectly flat . One of only two places the trains can reach full speed .
try Moreton to leasowe. think you will find it longer.
Hunts cross to Southport ?
0:58 Let's go to waynesdale or ainsdale?
Is that a watch 5
Does 507/508 have an AC?
DC only.
What is the longest Merseyrail route?
If you mean longest continuous route you can take from terminus to terminus, I'd imagine it'd be Chester to Chester, via the underground loop.
Southport to Chester for the longest and Hillside to Birkdale for the shortest.
Without visiting stations twice it would be Southport to Hunts Cross, otherwise Chester to Chester
whats the most annoying mersyrail journey.
Should have added Swearing Kevo
Merseyrail say it Moreton to Meols.
Those skipping express trains are a menace.
Are they not clearly labeled?
Yeah it was quite annoying, only way you'd find out is until you get on the train and it says "next station is.." or, if you're lucky, the dot matrix at the platform will be a newer one which says the stations it's calling at
@@NickBadley
Fortunately here in Bielefeld,
except for the main line trains,
we don't have a skipping service
so I can hop on any tram
for all stops.
And the main line skipping trains
are differently numbered
(because it's Germany)
