This is actually quite understated. Without Kson, there's no HoloEN (at least it wouldn't have gotten the amount of push it did and probably much later), she pushed the boundaries of what vtubers could do on stream, she had the most authentic karaoke streams I've ever witnessed, and beyond all that, she still looked out for her comrades more than she looked out for herself. I was hoping you'd include the story about Asakura Konoha, where they didn't even know each other, but Kson saw her post about all her computer stuff dying, so she just straight up sent Konoha her computer. She's such a wild and lovely person.
Kson is truly a legend, and I can say that without a bit of overstatement, and yet most of the time she's so down to earth and chill that it can be hard to get it across to people who haven't followed her trough what she's been trough, but if you did, that incessant positivity starts to gain an almost holy aura. I hope she keeps making new friends and fans, doing whatever the fuck she wants and living her best life for many decades to come.
Very good video. It's always weird doing a history of Kson with the sort of gaping hole in her history due to vtuber culture but this video did a fantastic job despite that. The one area I felt there was definitely some uhh missing context was for why Nijisanji was blacklisting her, and uhh the fact that they weren't the only ones.
Some notes: - You said 2017 because she said 2017, but still show her first video from 2016 (kson remembered it wrong when talking to ironmouse) - The Grand Prix prize money was 1 million yen - The censor thing was not from the stream, but from an edited video article done by some gaming site (you can see that it's only a 10 minute long video, please fact check stuff from that place)

Kson is definitely one of my favourite vtubers. At first I got to know her from some of the meme reaction vids I found on yt, but the more I watch, the more I appreciate her. I love that not only she can have such fun humor, positive mood in every stream, she also have an impressively strong connection with her Western viewers, which is a wise move if you want the world to see what you are truly capable of. She must be a very fun person to be around with, heck, checking her yt channel makes me wish I knew Japanese. I honestly didn't even know she won her favourite video game's audition, but it's satisfying to hear it. One of the most inspiring parts of the Yakuza contest story is Kson's appeal points. It really goes to show her self-confidence and how well she knows her strengths. That, combined with her unstoppable passion, proved her to be literally a one-in-a-thousand kind of person. But we shouldn't forget that sometimes the support of the people in our life also helps us reach success. In this case, it was the lucky arrival of Kaname Ai. Another kind-hearted and selfless individual who actively helped her competitor. What a story, goddamn.
She's really an inspiration to me. Her whole saga was like a humble carp going up the mountain to become a dragon. (I really wanted you to talk about how she promptly put herself on the fire to help a friend, but it was in "another life") By the way, I really recommend to seek info on Kuroda Takaya, Kiryu's seiyuu. Yup, profitable tho, as long as you're smart about it. Remember Niji isn't so big in the west and kson is popular with the western audience, not so much with the asians. The biggest incomes for niji are japanese events/collabs/sponsors and bilibili audience + chinese investors. I think Cover opted out of china because of their plans to make a worldwide experience with the whole game and their other plans which would've required tons of moderation to adapt to the chinese market, plus most of their audience was western + sea anyways so might as well just keep the majority of their clients.

Yeah Kson is a fucking legend, there's no doubts about it, anyone who doesn't know the story about this legendary Dragon of a vtuber is missing out, she basically started the whole english vtuber thing.... if there's someone seeking out to become a vtuber, then it's mostly due to the influence of Kson because of what she's done to the vtuber sphere in general... Kson basically opened the gates to all the vtubers we have nowadays... she wasn't the first vtuber, but she was the first to openly talk about spreading it globally, and she did it... I like to picture in my mind the planet full of vtubers and then holding the world like Atlas, would be Kson.
That is one Life Goal down, but I hope she has several more, particularly growing the VShojo JP branch. She has a lot of contacts and it would be nice to see her have a thriving group. where they can get involved in all sorts of VTuber shenanigans.
I got randomly recommended this video, I am not super well versed in Kson lore but still got captivated and watched the whole thing, great video and props to her for pulling this off. I haven't played this particular yakuza game yet but it is on my backlog. I'll be sure to see what the interaction with Kson's character is like when I eventually do though!
everyone tends to forget what happened with her and china. i dont think nijisanji hates her, the talents or the higher ups, the reason they dont do collabs with her is because nijisanji still has connections to the chinese market and they also have chinese talents and doing a collab with kson is could hurt those talents and it would prob kill that cash cow that hololive left behind. no matter what, kson will have that stigma follow her throughout her career, look at what happened when she joined vshojo, nyanners artist dropped her because of kson, the chinese hold grudges for a long time. So i doubt nijisanji will give up an entire country worth of revenue just for one person, unless kson somehow brings in years and years worth of $ from a few collabs. dont forget, nijisanji is a business first and would see the negative effects of having a collab with kson. it shouldnt be like this but thats the world we live in.

@@Yiman Don't worry, Hololive and Vshojo have done slimey things too, it's common practice in big corps and associations looking to make it big. The reason hololive backed up kson/coco was because if they didn't, they would take a huge hit with their audience, which was mostly composed of westerners back then (now it's mostly east and southeast asia). Remember Kson left because she kept fighting with the higher-ups who didn't give her freedom and she mentioned how they always complained whenever she pushed the limits, so the stress of fighting the trolls and fighting her bosses made her quit. Vshojo didn't protect their talents, they protected themselves. Wactor is yet another shitty vtuber company (almost completely gone now) etc, etc, etc. Business is business in the end, it's not about principles, being morally superior/correct, not a charity either, it's about money.
That's one hell of a underdog story. Went from a office worker to streamer to big Leagues to being harassed into quitting to building her own brand and to finally achieving her life long goal of being in her favorite game franchise ever while winning the 1 million prize pot.

Orginally she wanted to work as a manager, but the staff recommended that she becomes vtuber instead. Because of that Vtubing became very popular outside of Asia, The agency that she worked for became one of the most popular content creating agency's, became the #1 superchatted RUclipsr in the world, had the 10 highest viewed livestreams in the world and inspired a lot of people to become vtubers. Also there was an incident where she had a whole country constantly harass her and throughout all the drama she managed to stay strong and positive. After the drama she continued to work until mid 2021 where she left the agency. However, during her final month working for her agency instead of leaving and fading away, she went out with a huge bang. After that she took a 1 month break from content creation and returned to streaming again. Kson is a legend, she is the definition of a gigachad, she is basically kiryu kazuma. One thing I'd like to point out is I intentionally left out a few details (for oblivious reasons).

This is actually quite understated. Without Kson, there's no HoloEN (at least it wouldn't have gotten the amount of push it did and probably much later), she pushed the boundaries of what vtubers could do on stream, she had the most authentic karaoke streams I've ever witnessed, and beyond all that, she still looked out for her comrades more than she looked out for herself. I was hoping you'd include the story about Asakura Konoha, where they didn't even know each other, but Kson saw her post about all her computer stuff dying, so she just straight up sent Konoha her computer. She's such a wild and lovely person.
Kson is truly a legend, and I can say that without a bit of overstatement, and yet most of the time she's so down to earth and chill that it can be hard to get it across to people who haven't followed her trough what she's been trough, but if you did, that incessant positivity starts to gain an almost holy aura. I hope she keeps making new friends and fans, doing whatever the fuck she wants and living her best life for many decades to come.
Very good video. It's always weird doing a history of Kson with the sort of gaping hole in her history due to vtuber culture but this video did a fantastic job despite that. The one area I felt there was definitely some uhh missing context was for why Nijisanji was blacklisting her, and uhh the fact that they weren't the only ones.
Some notes:
- You said 2017 because she said 2017, but still show her first video from 2016 (kson remembered it wrong when talking to ironmouse)
- The Grand Prix prize money was 1 million yen
- The censor thing was not from the stream, but from an edited video article done by some gaming site (you can see that it's only a 10 minute long video, please fact check stuff from that place)

I mention it because it's another situation when intention doesn't equal reaction it provoked. Same as with offending, this lies on listener as well, and heavily.
They hate her because she's just that GREAT of a person they cannot be. She has a genuine drive to just do what she wants and I think people from different walks of life can learn a thing or 2 from that.

Kson is definitely one of my favourite vtubers. At first I got to know her from some of the meme reaction vids I found on yt, but the more I watch, the more I appreciate her. I love that not only she can have such fun humor, positive mood in every stream, she also have an impressively strong connection with her Western viewers, which is a wise move if you want the world to see what you are truly capable of. She must be a very fun person to be around with, heck, checking her yt channel makes me wish I knew Japanese. I honestly didn't even know she won her favourite video game's audition, but it's satisfying to hear it. I hope when she retires she will find her right partner to enjoy her life with, and her fans won't turn all their backs when they find that out.

One of the most inspiring parts of the Yakuza contest story is Kson's appeal points. It really goes to show her self-confidence and how well she knows her strengths. That, combined with her unstoppable passion, proved her to be literally a one-in-a-thousand kind of person.
But we shouldn't forget that sometimes the support of the people in our life also helps us reach success. In this case, it was the lucky arrival of Kaname Ai. Another kind-hearted and selfless individual who actively helped her competitor.

Try "free speech" in any western related media - for example express disaproval with the "pride people" on literally any aspect. You'll get cancelled (and maybe even sanctioned) faster than you can say "im offended" :D
Yup, profitable tho, as long as you're smart about it. Remember Niji isn't so big in the west and kson is popular with the western audience, not so much with the asians. The biggest incomes for niji are japanese events/collabs/sponsors and bilibili audience + chinese investors.
I think Cover opted out of china because of their plans to make a worldwide experience with the whole game and their other plans which would've required tons of moderation to adapt to the chinese market, plus most of their audience was western + sea anyways so might as well just keep the majority of their clients.

Yeah, truth is for almost all types of business your choices are China, or Almost Everyone else. Not literally exclusionary, but China will dictate what you can say, what you can do, etc even outside of China, if you are not already a globally dominant company (and will still push many of them around).

Yeah Kson is a fucking legend, there's no doubts about it, anyone who doesn't know the story about this legendary Dragon of a vtuber is missing out, she basically started the whole english vtuber thing.... if there's someone seeking out to become a vtuber, then it's mostly due to the influence of Kson because of what she's done to the vtuber sphere in general... Kson basically opened the gates to all the vtubers we have nowadays... she wasn't the first vtuber, but she was the first to openly talk about spreading it globally, and she did it... I like to picture in my mind the planet full of vtubers and then holding the world like Atlas, would be Kson.

I got randomly recommended this video, I am not super well versed in Kson lore but still got captivated and watched the whole thing, great video and props to her for pulling this off. I haven't played this particular yakuza game yet but it is on my backlog. I'll be sure to see what the interaction with Kson's character is like when I eventually do though!

i dont think nijisanji hates her, the talents or the higher ups, the reason they dont do collabs with her is because nijisanji still has connections to the chinese market and they also have chinese talents and doing a collab with kson is could hurt those talents and it would prob kill that cash cow that hololive left behind.
no matter what, kson will have that stigma follow her throughout her career, look at what happened when she joined vshojo, nyanners artist dropped her because of kson, the chinese hold grudges for a long time. So i doubt nijisanji will give up an entire country worth of revenue just for one person, unless kson somehow brings in years and years worth of $ from a few collabs.
dont forget, nijisanji is a business first and would see the negative effects of having a collab with kson.

@@Yiman Don't worry, Hololive and Vshojo have done slimey things too, it's common practice in big corps and associations looking to make it big. The reason hololive backed up kson/coco was because if they didn't, they would take a huge hit with their audience, which was mostly composed of westerners back then (now it's mostly east and southeast asia). Remember Kson left because she kept fighting with the higher-ups who didn't give her freedom and she mentioned how they always complained whenever she pushed the limits, so the stress of fighting the trolls and fighting her bosses made her quit.
Vshojo didn't protect their talents, they protected themselves.

I keep coming back to this video, cause through sheer force of kson being the character she always wanted to be, herself. You can't get that anywhere else, just a ball of humble passion. I know this wasn't in the video (which i think is obvious for reasons) around late 2019 Kson joined a big vtuber agency which literally changed vtubing history. Orginally she wanted to work as a manager, but the staff recommended that she becomes vtuber instead. Because of that Vtubing became very popular outside of Asia, The agency that she worked for became one of the most popular content creating agency's, became the #1 superchatted RUclipsr in the world, had the 10 highest viewed livestreams in the world and inspired a lot of people to become vtubers. Also there was an incident where she had a whole country constantly harass her and throughout all the drama she managed to stay strong and positive. After the drama she continued to work until mid 2021 where she left the agency. However, during her final month working for her agency instead of leaving and fading away, she went out with a huge bang. After that she took a 1 month break from content creation and returned to streaming again. Kson is a legend, she is the definition of a gigachad, she is basically kiryu kazuma.

We know about the other contract, it's the elephant in the room, and played a massive part in things. 🤫 And honestly it cannot be undersold how impressive it is that she was growing on two different fronts simultaneously, and then carried that momentum forward from 2021 on. I think that year really defined just how tough our gal truly was, and she has only built on it since then. So damn proud of her.
