Iga is playing really well. Her service games are strong; she begins with big serves. I saw quite a lot of serves in the 180+ kph range. That's right up there. This will put her in a good position to win points and games, and then puts pressure on the opponent to hold serve. If they dont hold, then they're going to be facing a difficult time breaking Iga, so the idea of losing serve basically means the set is gone. Pressure, pressure, pressure.

Swaitec s whole game is based on just 3 pillars - very much the modern game as introduced by the Williams sisters 25 years ago - 1) ripping the ball as hard as possible from back to mid court ; 2) outright foot speed; enables her to get to most balls in time and set up a rapid reply & 3) - Strategy is same as No1 ; not much to think about - just rip that ball as hard n fast as possible - all else will fall into place Currently, she does all 3 of these better than anyone. At 22/23 her foot speed still there ; but as Osaka has shown , once a % that speed goes , with her basic game it becomes harder to stay on top Be interesting to see if she can remain at the top at 25/26 years of age ??
