This is kinda why I think Dubs dont do well often. A lot of times a characters voice in JP isn't that far off from their normal voice. Some VAs are amazing and can do a multitude of voice ranges but a lot of times it's not that different. Mosts dubs however seem to try to add an extra layer of "anime" and kinda miss the point. Look at video games, plenty of amazing VAs for them. We need that level in anime. Even JP game voices the majority of times use the same VAs you'd find in anime. I don't know why the US couldn't do the same.
