Might try that part about the recoil pose being a bit less than the action pose, since I've always made the recoil and action pose in the same pose and manner.

You can apply the concepts here using tweening or using a rig 😊 When animating a rig you can apply the framework: Starting - Anticipation - Action - Overshoot - Recoil - Settle. But to animate it in the same as I did, with the same look then it would be impossible. There's a certain limitation to a rig. But if you're asking if you can apply the framework with tweens, then yes! Yes you can 😊 I apply this concept even when I'm doing Ae animations with a Duik rig. 😊
There are a lot of softwares in which you can animate frame by frame. Here are some of them: 1. Adobe animate 2. Photoshop 3. Toonboom 4. Krita 5. TVPaint In our studio we mainly use Adobe animate for frame by frame work 😊
